Story
Name: Chief Breed: German Shepherd Mix Sex: Neutered male Age: 9 Weight: 76 Needs Experienced Adopter Good with dogs? Yes, Chief is good with other gentle, friendly dogs who will be respectful of his boundaries. He may enjoy hanging out quietly at first, then take a nice walk with his new friend. Good with cats? No Good with kids? Yes, Chief could feel safe with calm, peaceful children 12+ who respect and understand his shy nature. Energy level: Low, Chief loves to relax outside, summer or winter! He will lie and soak up the sunshine in a sunny, private yard with a high fence. Medical/Behavioral needs: Chief is a big, fluffy, gloriously handsome boy, but on the inside he feels like a little dog who is timid and shy. He is afraid of most things that are loud, scary and new. He is slowly but steadily blossoming with loving foster care and gradual introductions to other safe animals. Rewards and treats help him open up to show his adorably silly side! He loves chicken and hot dogs and will eagerly push his head into a treat bag for more! Animal Characteristics: Chief is a sweet and sensitive soul looking for a forever home where he can feel safe, protected and loved for just who he is. This good boy needs a patient adopter who can relax alongside him and let him come out of his shell. Chief is immensely deserving of his very own “happily ever after” adoption story. Story
Mae Anatolian Shepherd/Pyrenees Mix Female 3 years old 93 lbs Hi, I’m Mae! I’m the ultimate companion for all your Colorado adventures, and I’ll curl up with you on the couch for lots of snuggles once the day is over. I’m such a love and I can’t wait to find a forever home of my very own! I’m a calm and easygoing dog with the people I know and love and am very gentle with little people. I enjoy rambling in the snow, camping trips, and hiking, and I’m also great company if you’d rather spend the day reading or working from home. I have an easy going way about me at home and I always love being with my people. I’m also crate-trained, but I don’t usually need one at home because I’m a well-behaved pup. I’m potty trained as well! I do need a home with a fenced yard (and a quieter environment overall) so please no apartments for me please! You can count on me to be your best friend and loyal companion! While I am really comfortable with those I know and love, I am a guardian breed and am naturally wary of new people, especially new people that visit my home. I do best being introduced to new people outside of my home (and even then, I need someone to go slow with me and understand that meeting new people isn’t the easiest for me.) However, I do great with other people and dogs in neutral environments like parks. I’m a very loyal pup to my humans and that sometimes results in me being overprotective to someone outside of my “trust circle” I’d do best in a quieter environment where we don’t have a ton of new visitors and my human doesn’t need or expect me to meet new people a lot in general. I also can get really overwhelmed out of the home where I feel like I need to defend my humans (for example, at a brewery) and I have nipped at new people in those situations. Therefore, I’ll thrive in a home where my human has a quieter lifestyle overall and can consider what situations I will do best in outside of the home. I usually do really well on a leash. But, occasionally I see a dog I don’t like and I am a big girl! So I will need an adopter who is able to manage a big dog on leash when I’m pulling (and a harness is very important for me!) I have done well meeting dogs out and about on walks but I’ve never lived with a dog so I can’t share how I’d do with another dog in the home. I do need a cat free home! Are you ready for the most loyal, loving dog friend? Please learn more about the adoption process and fill out an application at https://pawsco.org/adopt/adoption-process. You can also contact my friends at PawsCo at adopt@pawscoadoptions.org if you have questions. I look forward to meeting you! "PawsCo is committed to helping me thrive with my new family, so they will sponsor up to three virtual training sessions with our training partner GoodPup to help me settle into my new home!"

Story
Name: Señor Suave Breed: Lab / Hound Mix Sex: Neutered male Age: 8.5 years Weight: 73 lbs Good with dogs? Yes, as long as he does not have to compete for human affection and is being treated as the “top dog.” Good with cats? No Good with kids? Yes, he does great with kids! Energy level: Medium to High. He needs 1-2 walks per day, minimum of 1 mile long each, and playtime in a yard. He has also enjoyed a run/walk 5K and a little trail hike. Behavioral needs: Senor Suave is a very talkative hound when he gets excited! He is interested in and may chase small animals like rabbits, squirrels and birds. He does not like to be left alone and will bark because he wants to be with humans. When he has moved to a new foster home, he has taken several days to resume eating and stop pacing. He’s ready for a forever home with lots of love and attention, and despite his age is willing to learn new tricks! Animal Characteristics: Senor Suave is soft, sweet, cuddly, gentle and playful. He is friendly and eager to meet new people and positions himself to receive petting. He also loves belly rubs and ear scratches, and will give kisses in return! He may be a great first dog for a family with children and one of the adults working part time. Sierra

Shepherd (Unknown Type) Siberian Husky

Female, 11 mos
Denver, CO
Size
(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Details
Good with dogs, Not good with cats, Needs experienced adopter, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Name: Sierra Breed: Shepherd / Siberian Husky Mix Sex: Spayed female Age: 9 months Weight: 52 lbs Needs Experienced Adopter Good with dogs? Yes, she does best with doggy friends who are also high energy and will give her a lot of grace, because she is still learning how to play appropriately. Sierra can continue her socialization in controlled 1:1 or small group play. Good with cats? No Good with kids? Not tested Medical/Behavioral needs: Sierra is a survivor! She’s healing from a broken leg and paw injury that nearly led to amputation, but her limb was saved. As a puppy, she had to be on cage rest to recover, so she’s eager to make up for lost play time and learn her manners. Sierra is very excitable, loves to jump and barks at new people and dogs. She is learning that she has plenty of food, so she is fed separately from other animals. She has not been around children, but will do best around people who can read her behavioral cues. Energy level: High! Sierra requires a lot of physical and mental stimulation to keep her happy and engaged. An active adopter who can provide plenty of exercise and activities such as sports or dog agility training would be an ideal match for her. With her boundless energy, she would thrive in an environment that allows her to burn off steam and challenge her mind. Animal Characteristics: Sierra is a curious, courageous, intelligent, playful, strong minded dog with adorably floppy ears. She forms a strong bond with her person, but is quite cautious of new people and needs slow introductions. When she has warmed up, she will ask for love by partially climbing into a lap and enjoy being petted. She may become excited and start to get mouthy, and she can be redirected to a favorite toy. Sierra needs a patient, dedicated forever home where her training can be continued as she blossoms. Please learn more about the adoption process and fill out an application at www.pawsco.org/adopt/adoption-process.
