Story
My story is both heart-warming and heartbreaking, but I'm glad I found my way back to the rescue organization that can help me find the forever home I deserve. I can be a gentle and loyal companion who simply craves the love and attention that every dog deserves. Despite the neglect I experienced in my previous home,I have adjusted well since being returned to the rescue. My shyness and caution around men is understandable, but with the right patience and care, I'm confident I will blossom into a wonderful family member. Here are a few key points about you that stand out: I am a loyal and humble companion who appreciates the simple things in life, like gentle pats and a calm voice. I may be a bit shy at first, but will warm up to people and become the heart of the home. I would do best in a quiet, loving environment, and would make a great match for older children or a veteran looking for a furry friend. Despite the neglect in my past, I have adjusted well since being returned to the rescue.  I truly believe that with the right forever family who is willing to give me the time, patience, and love I deserve, I will flourish. I have so much to offer, and I hope to find that special someone who can provide me with the forever home I've been searching for.  Please fill out an application for me at www.fureverdogdenver.com, if you have any questions or would like to meet me, please call 720 588-6809. ##2096191##

Story
Cheech - The Escape Artist Chihuahua About Cheech: 2-year-old male Chihuahua Neutered, up to date on shots and microchipped Outgoing and friendly with people Prefers the company of smaller dogs, especially female pups High-energy and very clever - can climb chain link fences to escape, so will need a secure, high wooden or nylon fence no chainlink. Personality and Behavior: Cheech is a lively and affectionate Chihuahua with a big personality packed into a small body. He loves people and most dogs, though he tends to prefer the company of smaller pups, especially females. His clever and adventurous nature has earned him the nickname "Houdini" - he has an uncanny ability to climb to the top of chain link fences and then jump down to freedom. . Cheech is mostly house-trained and comfortable using a doggie door, he has marked in the kitchen. He does well when crated, but will need close supervision to prevent any daring escapes when doors are opened. Tragically, Cheech's adventurous spirit has led him to kill a chicken after getting out, so he is not recommended for a farm or rural environment. However, Cheech seems to do well with older children and could make a delightful companion in the right home, as long as his escape artist tendencies are carefully managed. Ideal Home: Cheech would thrive in an active home with a securely fenced yard and plenty of enrichment to channel his high energy. He would do best in a home without large dogs, and one with responsible owners who can provide close supervision to prevent any unplanned adventures. An experienced Chihuahua owner or a home with older dog-savvy children would be ideal for this clever and affectionate pup. ##2195191##

Story
The Brush gang arrived at the Rescue from Brush, CO.  Animal Control had them for some time and could not find their furever families, so they asked for help.  They are a sweet, friendly group of Austrailian Cattledog, Lab and pittbull.   They are a very energetic and happy group that can jump high, so a high fence with a large yard or property will be needed for these pups.   Brush pink flowers is an almost 2 year old and looks mostly Cattledog with her spots, she is spayed, microchipped and current on shots.  She is kennel trained but has not spent time in the house, she has her own kennel at night but shares her yard with her brother. Please fill out an application at www.fureverdogdenver.com   If you have any questions or to meet me, please call (720) 588-6809. ##1788564##

Story
Video: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/ZnVouAvph-c Axle is a young adult boy who weighs about 40 lbs. He is the absolute sweetest boy who loves cuddles and gets along great with dogs of all sizes and with cats. He is very calm and only gets excited when you direct your attention towards him. He doesn't jump or paw at you. In the video he was terrified in a shelter with a 100 dogs barking so that level of excitement is not his normal. He has wavy/curly hair but it's soft, not wiry. He is an absolute gem. He is currently still in Oklahoma where he was rescued but he can only be adopted out of state where people treat animals well. He has to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport at one of our transport drop off locations below. If things don't work out for some reason, which rarely ever happens, we will either find a local foster to take him in or he will go back to Oklahoma on our next transport until a new home is found. Note: No dogs are advertised as potty-trained because most dogs need at least some re-training in a new environment and after being in a shelter/rescue environment/strays. www.facebook.com/desideratarescue (copy and paste into a new browser window) Transport locations: - Washington State (Kennewick, Spokane, Tumwater, Tacoma, Tukwila, Lynnwood/Edmonds, Bellingham) - Oregon (Portland and Springfield) - Colorado (Ft Lupton) - Idaho (Heyburn and Boise/Meridian) - Utah (Ogden) - Wyoming (Evanston, Rock Springs, Laramie) - Montana (Missoula) - Illinois (Vandalia, Springfield, Chicago) - Indiana (Spiceland, Burn Harbor) - Michigan (St Joseph, Battle Creek, Ann Arbor) - Wisconsin (Madison, Wausau, Eau Claire, Appleton, Milwaukee) - Minnesota (Minneapolis/St Paul) - Iowa (Des Moines) - Ohio (Columbus and London) - Pennsylvania (Erie, Pittsburgh and Harrisburg) - New York (Buffalo and Albany) - Connecticut (Enfield) - New Jersey (Bedminster) - Nevada (Las Vegas) - Arizona (Flagstaff) Vetting: neutered, microchipped, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, dhpp vaccine x 3, lepto vaccine x 2, dewormed several times, on monthly flea and tick prevention, on monthly heartworm protection, heartworm tested (negative). Video 1 (copy and paste into a new browser window) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLS7qQ0Yj1I Video 2 (copy and paste into a new browser window) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8F91z-04nVI Badger is a husky mix who was listed at the shelter as 8 years old. When he first arrived, I thought he was much older and that he would be a hospice case. He was stiff and frozen in fear and skinny. He would barely move. I put him in a kennel with younger dogs and he soon found his youthful spirit again and is like a different dog now. I don't know his age for sure but he has lots of life and happiness left in him and I think he is younger than 8. He weighs about 60 lbs now. He learned how to climb out of the 6 ft chain link kennel but he doesn't stray far from it except to follow me on walks. He goes down the pond to take a dip but mostly just hangs out by the kennel. So while he has the skills of a husky to escape, he doesn't have the urge of a husky to run off and go explore. I don't even put him up when I leave because he doesn't go anywhere. He is great with other dogs but sometimes doesn't know how big he is so he wouldn't be good around scared little dogs. Not because he would hurt them, but because they might get scared of him. He is fine with my chihuahuas but they are very bossy and not scared of anything. For that reason, I also don't think he should be around cats. To be clear, he is not aggressive at all, he just tries to play with everything and with his size that just wouldn't work with a dog or cats that's scared of him. He is very food motivated and walks well on the leash as well. He is an awesome boy and I am glad he didn't die at the kill shelter. He is currently still in Oklahoma where he was rescued but he can only be adopted out of state where people treat animals well. He has to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport at one of our transport drop off locations below. Story
Dane is a stunning blue merle great dane mix. He is about 8 months old and great with dogs of all sizes and with cats. He was rescued from a small rural shelter where he was slated to be euthanized due to time and space. He is a chill dude who likes to nap, go on walks and hang with his friends. He is currently still in Oklahoma where he was rescued but he can only be adopted out of state where people treat animals well. He has to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport at one of our transport drop off locations below.
