Story
This here is Rosie, she absolutely loves people but does not love other animals. We had gotten Rosie 4 years ago at a shelter in St. Cloud. Rosie is 6 going to be 7 on 10-16. We are looking for someone who can accommodate her for we no longer can. Our hearts are broken but it’s what’s best for both our gals. Rosie loves going outside, car rides, and loves attention. She does have incontinence, she’s on a pill and it works perfect. She does have a kennel, harness, collar, bed etc.

Story
Meet Wasko, a 6-year old German Shepherd. Handsome boy who loves going for Car rides, playing fetch, and cuddling with his people. He's house-trained, crate-trained, muzzle-trained, and knows basic commands. Wasko will wait to take treats, eat food, and even go through doorways only with permission with the "wait" and "okay" commands. He's extremely well-behaved indoors. Well behaved with bathing and tolerates the hair dryer with no fuss. Loves being brushed and ear cleanings. Nail clipping he's uneasy about, but it's doable. He trusts people handling his paws. Does well at the vet. He's up to date on his shots. He's a German Shepherd, so he's protective and alert, but not aggressive with people. Wasko needs slow underhand introductions. Usually new people making him do tricks for treats makes him more comfortable. Then, he's your pal. He's an alpha and generally doesn't like other dogs or cats. Prey drive, but not obnoxious.Ideally, he'd do well as an only pet.

Story
*This animal is a part of our “Seniors for Seniors” program where we offer senior adopters an opportunity to adopt an eligible pet at a discounted fee.* Hi, I’m Rosette—though my foster calls me Rosie—and I’m a beautiful senior girl with a soft heart to match. I’m sweet, gentle, quiet, and very easy to have around. I enjoy the company of my foster’s three senior beagles, but I also appreciate my own peaceful downtime when I need it. I’m a good little follower and happily tag along with the other dogs when it’s time to go potty, even in this cold weather. I haven’t shown much interest in toys yet, but I do know what I like when it comes to comfort. At night, I sleep on the bed with an open-door crate nearby, and I seem to prefer the cozy bed life. I’m still settling in and figuring out my routine. I came in eating canned food only, but my foster is transitioning me to kibble with chicken, which is going much better for me. My walking skills are still a bit of an unknown since I came from a handicapped household, but with patience and kindness, I’ll let you know what I’m comfortable with. I think I could be very happy as an only dog, soaking up love in a calm, quiet home—or with gentle senior companions like myself. If you’re looking for a peaceful, loving presence to share your days, I might just be your girl. Rosie is showing early signs of kidney disease, including increased urination and drinking, and will need to stay on a kidney prescription diet for support. An adoptive home where someone is home most of the time will be best to accommodate her need for extra bathroom breaks. Adopting a senior dog is like getting a vintage car – it comes with character, a few extra quirks, and might need a bit more maintenance. Expect occasional tune ups at the vet for oil changes (aka meds), and embrace the fact that those 'normal lumps and bumps' are just part of the well-earned charm package! Ruff Start will share all known health information with adopters and recommendations to keep your senior dog in top shape. Rosette (Rosie) is from an owner surrender.

Story
Meet McGee: The Elusive Girafuahua Narrated in your mind by Sir David Attenborough, please. In the wild and wonderful world of rescue dogs, there are many fascinating creatures. But few are as rare, as leggy, or as delightfully entertaining as the elusive Girafuahua. At first glance, McGee may appear to be a young Chihuahua/Jack Russell Terrier mix. But look closer. Notice the small athletic body. The impossibly long legs. The alert expression. The ability to stretch, perch, observe, and somehow know exactly what is happening on every counter, couch, toy pile, and human lap within range. Truly, nature is magnificent. McGee is friendly with humans and loves being part of the action. He has been a fan favorite at social outings. He enjoys toys, walks nicely on leash, and does well in the car. Potty Trained and Crate trained! He is also an expert treasure collector. Stuffies, bones, and beloved toys may be carefully gathered and relocated to his bed, where he can admire his collection like a tiny museum curator with giraffe legs. Like many rare species, McGee has bursts of joyful energy followed by serious cuddle time. He loves to play, explore, and proudly carry his treasures, but he is equally happy settling into a lap with his favorite person. McGee can do well with other dogs, especially with proper introductions and playful companions. However, this long-legged gentleman takes his relationship with his people very seriously and can be a little possessive of them around other dogs. He will do best with adopters who can provide structure, boundaries, and gentle reminders that love is not a limited resource. Adopt McGee, and prepare to share your life with one of nature’s most remarkable little long-legged wonders.

Story
Hershey was surrendered when her owner had to move and could not take her along. Hershey is calm, quiet, and very low maintenance. She keeps her kennel clean and is happiest parked on a soft bed or right in your lap. She is definitely a lap dog! She loves playing with her squeaky ball and her stuffed Lamb Chop toy. She does not go looking for entertainment and is content just being near her person and relaxing. She can be a little shy in new environments and does not enjoy a lot of commotion. She may get nippy if someone tries to pick her up, so she needs a home that respects her space and lets her come to people on her own terms. Once she settles in, she is affectionate and will happily become your shadow.Hershey is leash trained, crate trained, and potty trained. She is very skittish outside and will need slow, patient introductions to new outdoor environments. She also really dislikes wearing a halter when outside, so her future home should be prepared to work with her gently and help build her confidence over time.Hershey loves treats and will always show up when food is involved. She would do best on a structured diet to help her get to a healthier weight. She can be protective of her food and toys. She is currently learning to play fetch — she enthusiastically chases after the ball but has not quite figured out bringing it back yet! She also enjoys sitting by the patio door and barking at bunnies and squirrels. She does not need another dog and is perfectly fine on her own. She has lived with kids before, but she would do best in a calm, low-traffic home without a lot going on. Hershey is an easy companion for someone looking for a quiet, steady presence and a dedicated lap dog.

Story
Hi, I’m Nachito! 🐾 I might be a pint-sized pup, but I have a huge personality and a whole lot of feisty spirit! I’m super playful, incredibly friendly, and totally convinced I can conquer the world (or at least the living room). Even though I'm very small, I love to roughhouse, and I always seem to win! My Daily Routine & Puppy Power - If you're looking for a sleepy couch potato, that's definitely not me just yet. I have tons of puppy energy! Toy Collector: My absolute favorite daily activity is running back and forth, grabbing every toy I can find until I've successfully built a massive pile of treasure. The Couch Chronicle: I am currently almost too small to actually get onto the couch. Does that stop me? Absolutely not. I try repeatedly, and when I inevitably fall off backwards, I just shake it off and try again. My foster parents think it's hilarious because I am completely unbothered by my gravity checks. Playtime Style: I love to wrestle and chase! If there's another pup around, we will chase each other all over the place. I like to let out these little play growls that sound super "vicious," but it's all in good fun—it just looks adorable coming from a guy my size. How I Show My Love - I am a total ham when it comes to affection. When I want your attention, I will leap right up onto you and lick your entire face, maybe offering a few sweet puppy nibbles to show you I care. Because I'm a young guy with places to go and toys to move, "relaxing" isn't really my thing yet. However, there is a secret trick: if you hold me like a baby, I will finally stay still and melt into your arms for some quiet cuddle time. Making Friends With People: I am super friendly and absolutely adore visitors. Bring on the crowd, because I love being the center of attention! With Other Dogs: I can be a little nervous at first around new dogs. My go-to move is to lay down and act a bit hesitant. But don't worry, it doesn't take me long at all to warm up, and once I do, I’m instantly ready to play. My "Home Skills" - I’m still a young pup, so I’m a work in progress, but I’m a fast learner! The Crate: I do pretty well spending time in my crate and settling down. Commands: I’ve already started learning how to "come" when you call my name! Potty Training: I’m still working on mastering this, so I will need a patient family who can keep me on a good routine. The Big Takeaway: I am a silly, joyful little guy who will keep you laughing every single day with my antics. If you're ready for big energy and endless love in a small package, I'm your boy! ---- *Rescue puppies are notorious for losing their birth certificates before entering our rescue. We cannot guarantee the breed or size they will be full grown.*
