Story
My name is Melvin and I am looking for a new home. My mom is sick and can no longer take care of me. I am a great doggie. For starters, I am super intelligent. I’m friendly and get along with other dogs and cats and even have been exposed to farm life some. I love to snuggle and curl up on your lap. I love to play after I eat, and love treats. I am a purebred daushaund! I also do have some special needs that I have to tell you about. I had back surgery for IVDD about 5 years ago. I was a miracle and recovered completely, but not without some complications. I cannot hold my bladder or pooping completely like other doggies. I’m pretty good, I go when I’m brought outside but my bladder is not the same ever since my surgery. Sometimes I have to wear a diaper. I do not like the crate, and can howl a lot when left alone. I also don’t like long walk For these reasons I am going to need someone who stays home for the most part, and can give me the love and attention I deserve.

Story
Max is 7 years old. We raised him as a rescue since he was 3 months old. He’s a lovable and loyal dog, Always good with children and adults. He has a high level of protection and prey instinct. He doesn’t get along with any dogs whatsoever. We live in an HOA with many other dog owners, our homes are in close proximity. With many dogs in the neighborhood, as well as another small dog in our family we’ve come to the heart wrenching decision to find him a better home. He needs to be in a caring home with someone who understands the breed and will protect him from interactions with other dogs. We’re not seeking money, just a loving home that can care for him properly.

Story
Beau has been with my parents for 6 years as a single dog/animal home. He is a loving, loyal, and playful boy. He has anxiety/high energy that my parents are not able to care for. He would do well with someone with space and time to play with/walk him often. He has grown very protective of my father, and now separation anxiety that has led to destructive behavior when left alone, and my parents are unable to give him the training and support he needs to address this. He has been around the grandchildren (ages 1-4) and ranges to fine/indifferent to at times protective (rushing to their side when crying and a parent approaches) but has never bitten anyone. If the kids run to my dad, Beau will again rush to his side. So in that regards it appears mixed on his behavior around children so I want to be upfront on that. He was rescued 6 years ago, with a note saying he does not get along with cat. He is good with other dogs, particularly other big dogs. Fine off leash at dogparks.

Story
Riley is an easy going, low energy mini aussie , he is 10 yrs old, 27lbs. and has a heart murmur, and some enlargement of the heart. He is on medication and doing well. Vet did not say he has any exercise restrictions. He does have some arthritis in his front paw, so he has a limp. His favorite toy is a ball that he’s had since coming to rescue. Riley has good house manners, can be left without being kenneled, but will tolerate being in one if he is given a busy bone, or Kong. He currently sleeps on floor in bedroom. Riley can be selective when meeting strangers. He has been fine with both men and women he has met here. Not sure what triggers this. He has reactivity on walks also. At another foster he did pack walks and was fine. He’s good with other dogs, that are not looking for a playmate. He enjoys laying outside , he will bark at people but will stop when told its OK. A yard without a lot of foot traffic going by would be good. Has some anxiety in the car, and visiting the vet. Living in the metro area would be a plus, and willing to go to our vet in Elk River. All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers. We need an approved application on file to set up a meeting with a dog you might be interested in. You can find our application at www.aussierescuemn.com All dogs have an adoption fee of $300 plus MN sales tax. We pride ourselves on matches that are awesome for both the dog and your family. Story
Gordy is a 52 pound 5 1/2 year old male Australian shepherd. He is up for adoption because he does not do well with children, and his family recently had a baby. He would do best as an only dog as he does not like other dogs. Gordy loves walks and is very well behaved on a leash. He loves outside time and loves to chase squirrels and rabbits. He is athletic, high-energy, and loves to be active. Gordy is perfectly house trained and does not chew. He does very well in his crate and feels secure there. He is sweet, eager to please, and very food motivated. He comes from a loving and secure home and will be missed very much! All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers. We need an approved application on file to set up a meeting with a dog you might be interested in. You can find our application at www.aussierescuemn.org. Story
ArthurHi! I’m Arthur! I’m a young and energetic boy! I love toys and making them squeak! And, I won’t deny myself a good chew on a pillow, blankie, or loose bit of paper either! I’m just so curious about everything and tend to investigate with my mouth. I might even jump and nibble on a hand here and there because I get so excited when I meet a new person too. If I’m being too rambunctious in the house I’m more than happy to get outside for a walk. My foster mom says I’m a good walker. I love to meet new dogs, especially if they’re young and playful, like me! While I’ve been in foster care I’ve gotten much better about my separation anxiety, but I still get really sad when my humans leave me and I will vocalize my displeasure and sadness. Ideally I just want to spend all the time with you and watch you go about your daily business and then snuggle on the couch and eat cottage cheese with you in the evening.   If you’re looking for a playful and sweet boy I’d love to meet you! - xo, Arthur To see other hounds currently in our care please visit the Hounds in Our Care page on our website.
