Story

Miles is a really sweet boy that has a sensitive tummy. We have been on a journey to find out why, and it looks like the cause is likely a chronic issue. To keep his tummy happy is going to take more care than we can give. We got Miles at 7 months old (he is 14 months old now) and immediately loved him - he is so sweet, so cuddly and gentle. After trying to potty train him, we realized something was going on with him and had a vet check him out. The vet ruled out worms, parasites, and nutrient deficiencies. She narrowed down the cause to 3 possibilities (which need further testing to be sure): Addisons disease, a liver shunt, or IBS (irritable bowel syndrome). If it is Addisons, he will need regular meds and lab work. If it is a liver shunt, he will likely need surgery. And if it is IBS, he will need a strict diet and close monitoring. We do not have the budget or bandwidth for this kind of care. We are hoping someone does. He is a precious fellow with a lot of love to give.

Magdalena is not just any dog; she is a testament to the resilience and the unwavering spirit of a survivor. This beautiful 5-year-old Labrador mix has faced challenges that would have deterred many, yet her spirit remains unbroken and her heart full of love. Magdalena's journey has been a tough one. Due to a human-caused incident, she tragically lost one of her legs and, heartbreakingly, her puppies as well. Despite these hardships, Magdalena has shown incredible strength and determination to heal both physically and emotionally. The last picture was taken during her early healing stages, you can see her courageously taking each step forward, supported by her indomitable spirit. Today, Magdalena is fully healed and ready to embark on a new chapter of her life - one filled with love, compassion, and the security of a forever home. Her gentle demeanor and loving nature shine through every interaction. Magdalena adores human companionship and has a special affinity for belly rubs and leisurely walks. She is known for her playful antics and happy face. Magdalena's ideal home would be one where she is cherished as a member of the family and the only dog in the home. She does well with dogs her size or bigger but hasn't been around small dogs much and doesn't do well with smaller dogs. She has also never been around cats but given her reaction to small dogs, she probably would do best in a home without cats. She thrives on affection and is eager to return it tenfold. Whether it's snuggling on the couch or exploring the great outdoors, Magdalena is up for any adventure as long as she's by your side. Meet Chippy! He is a 20lb 6 year old Chihuahua mix. This sweetheart was dumped outside of a PetSmart in a kennel in North Carolina. From his foster: October update: Chippy is a very good boy- quiet and gentle! He's experienced some trauma in his early life but is learning to trust, come out of his shell, and live his best life. When the weather is nice he loves to relax in the sun, take a walk with his stroller, and meet new dogs in the neighborhood or dog park. Chippy is very food motivated and gets super excited at meal time and when he can earn treats. Chippy is great with other dogs, cats, and children. August Update: He is very calm, a little timid and we have not heard a single bark out of him. He loves to snuggle, has a good appetite and enjoys prancing around the yard finding treats we put out for him. He has a passing interested in cats but no chasing instinct. He doesn't seem to have experience with stairs so we are approaching that slowly. He likes balls and will fetch!! He had a couple accidents through the transition but is getting into the swing of things. We are currently working on leash walking. He likes to be active in the yard and is starting to let loose but wants to be a very good boy. Easy to train with treats. Meet Lady! She's apx 10 years old and traveled a long ways to MN. She came to Legends in Early October, and we're learning more about her each day. So far, she's been great with dogs, cats, and all humans that she's met. She is coming out of her shell each day as she decompresses and starts to show us her personality. She likes to follow her people around the house and is loving beds and couches! Lady is a gentle senior looking to spend her golden years in comfort. She's food motivated and curious. She's already started trying out sweaters as we anticipate MN winters to be quite the adjustment! Medical stuff: She recently had a dental, and is noted to have a very mild heart murmur. Medication is not required for it at this time. We've got her on a joint supplement for some probable arthritis, and she also has a sensitive trachea and will cough occasionally, but otherwise is a healthy older lady! *We only adopt and foster our animals within a 60 mile radius from New Brighton, MN* All of our adoptable animals can be seen by appointment. When I have my people I am loyal and only want to be snuggled and loved on, especially snuggling up at night. I have had both ACLs repaired and have become a bionic bully. But even that hasn’t stopped me from loving running wild, dock diving, and chasing after my tennis ball! I have been super loving with my 1.5 year old human, but likely won’t do well around large groups of kids or strange kiddos that aren’t part of my pack Please if you want to have a spicy girl, that would thrive with some additional training and time, she will be an incredible dog..
