Meet Allie, a 2019 edition of a party colored Australian Shepherd x Border Collie weighing in at 42 lbs. This beautiful gal came to NWMNAR because her previous owner had to leave abroad to help take care of in-laws and could not take Allie with. Allie loves going to obedience class and showing how smart she is. Allie needs an Aussie savy owner her can outsmart her. She is best with dogs the same size, she has prey drive towards rabbits and may not do well with cats or other smaller animals possibly including smaller tiny dogs. Allie takes time with strangers and will often back away barking. Allie has been scared of men with hats in the past. She can be a bit barky towards other dogs on walks, but has been learning to play nice. She can be dominant towards other dogs. Allie doesn't like plastic crates, but does just fine in wire crate. Allie must be crated in a vehicle otherwise she will run around in a vehicle pushing window switches until she gets out. Allie is best to go for a walk before a car ride to ensure she doesn't nervous defecate in the vehicle. Allie hies and sleeps under the bed to keep the monsters away. Allie does like to vocalize herself if she sees other dogs outside when she is peering out the windows. She has just started to play with toys and gets groomed twice a week with a brush. Because NWMNAR is not a public shelter, meet and greets do not take place until an application has been approved and a home visit has been completed in person or virtually. Meet Red Raven! Red Raven is a 2022 edition of a standard Australian Shepherd. She came into NWMNAR as an owner surrender as they had to move and where they were moving did not allow pets. Red Raven is a very intelligent dog, and will need a privacy fenced yard as she can clear a six foot chain link fence. This girl would probably excel in agility or be a great jogging partner. She does best with women, has been around children, but better suited for adults. Red Raven is very responsive, wicked smart, house and crate trained, spayed, up to date on vaccinations and ready to find her new home. Red Raven is available for adoption. Rescued: 7/19/2022 Age at the time of rescue: 3 years Current weight: 8 pounds What an amazing survivor! Cruiser has beaten the odds and is living his best life, but we know he deserves more than a shelter life. He was hit by a car and never take to a veterinarian for evaluation. His spinal column was crushed leaving him without the ability to control his bowel or urine heartbreakingly. He uses his diapers and is such a good boy! Full of energy, love and desire for life. He is fast in his wheelchair and loves running around. We are looking for a home that understands his challenges, but welcomes his passion for life. We provide him some special food to help with his challenges, but he's thriving! Fully vetted, sterilized and ready to fly home with his wheelchair! If you think that you'd be the perfect match for Cruiser, we'd love to talk to you! Cruiser is still on the island but we would love get him the forever home he deserves!
