Story
Meet Scout 🐾💙 Scout is a handsome, incredibly smart boy who’s been searching for his forever home for two years—and through it all, he hasn’t given up hope… and neither have we. This treat-motivated superstar loves learning new things and truly shines when he has a job to do. Whether it’s long walks, agility courses, sniff work, or car rides, Scout is always ready for his next adventure. And after a day of fun? He’s more than happy to curl up on a cozy bed for a well-earned nap. Scout is a very sweet dog who enjoys playing with other dogs outside of the home. However, when it comes to his castle, he prefers to have it all to himself and would do best as the only pet. He’s also looking for a home without children under 16, so he can feel safe, comfortable, and set up for success. Scout will need multiple meet-and-greets to ensure a smooth transition into his new home. He is currently on anxiety medication, which he will need to continue, and he truly thrives with patient, understanding adopters who are willing to support his needs and cheer him on. In return, Scout will give you unwavering loyalty, companionship, and a lifetime of love. He’s waited so long for someone to see just how special he is—could that someone be you? - Almost 6 years old - Currently just under 75lbs - Good with dogs outside the home since he prefers his things to stay HIS - Can do doggy playdates outside the home - No cats in the home - Prefers kids 16+ - Adoption fee: $175 *sponsored* This dog is currently housed at our shelter. If you are interested, please come in at your earliest availability during our open hours, no appointment necessary. We do same-day adoptions, do not hold dogs, and work on a first-come, first-served basis as long as it is an excellent fit for both parties. If you have questions or want to possibly schedule an appointment on one of our closed days, you may email dogs@adoptapetfenton.com. Dog adoption fees include spay/neuter, rabies vaccine (if age-appropriate), distemper/parvo combination vaccine, leptospirosis vaccine (if age-appropriate), bordetella vaccine, deworming, heartworm test (if age appropriate), heartworm preventative, flea preventative, a dental cleaning (if necessary), and a microchip. Future vaccines, tests, and treatments will be the responsibility of the adopter.

Story
Hello! I'm looking to find my wonderful dog a loving and safe home. I'm currently going through a difficult divorce (DV and financial abuse). My ex trashed our house and abandoned our dogs, then left the state this week while I was out of state for work on a contract. I'm unable to quite either one of my jobs due to having to pay for his health insurance until the divorce is finalized, and him wracking up debt in my name. I have until tomorrow afternoon to find a new home for Brisket. He's a two year old pit and shepered mix. 100% good boy. Loves people and other dogs. Loves hiking and swimming. He's completely potty trained, non-destructive. Doesn't counter surf. Knows a bunch of commands and he's crate trained. I crate trained so he would be okay with doggy daycare boarding and at the vet. He love's to cuddle, is super affectionate. He's used to free roaming in the backyard, occupying himself with his toys or chews or just laying outside on his elevated bed.
