Story
History: Our Out of the Cold Rescue Effort was a great success in welcoming over 180+ animals to rescue from rural areas in North Dakota before the cold set in. These animals are all so deserving and thankful to get a second chance in finding a forever home of their own! A Note from the Foster: Ready to Adopt? Meet Poppy, the Perfect Companion! At just 2 years old, Poppy is a delightful blend of a mature, well-mannered dog and a fun-loving pup! Her spirit is energetic and playful, but she’s also a wonderful companion who knows how to relax. Personality: She is incredibly sweet, affectionate, and thrives on getting attention from her humans. Behavior: She is remarkably quiet for her age and consistently maintains a clean kennel both day and night—a true indicator of her house-training potential! Social Life: She is a social butterfly, happily playing with dogs of all sizes. She has shown no issues being around children and would fit beautifully into a family setting. Outings: She is great on the leash, making walks enjoyable and easy! Poppy is looking for a home where she can share her boundless love and energy. Could you be the forever family that gives this deserving girl a spot on your sofa?

History: Our Out of the Cold Rescue Effort was a great success in welcoming over 180+ animals to rescue from rural areas in North Dakota before the cold set in. These animals are all so deserving and thankful to get a second chance in finding a forever home of their own! A Note from the Foster: Sweetie lives up to her name. She is full of love and ready to find her forever home. She’s got a beautiful white coat and is working on finding the right ways to show her abundance of love and happiness. Sweetie thinks she’s a lap dog and loves to lounge on the futon or the couch while snuggling her person. At 20 months she still has some puppy energy in her and burns that off playing chase with the resident dog in the backyard. Sweetie gets along well with other dogs about her same size. She doesn’t quite understand personal space and that she’s a bit bigger. She would be good as an only dog or with a sidekick to show her the ropes. Sweetie might be a bit much with younger kids but good for older kids that are active and love to play outside. Sweetie does have limited vision however she has adapted well to her foster home without accommodation. She does fine getting around without assistance and does the stairs without issues. Sweetie is still working on learning to take walks on a leash. Her vision and lack of confidence comes out. A fenced yard would be great for Sweetie. Her foster mom says Sweetie loves to run laps around the leaf piles in the backyard and has become comfortable navigating the yard on her own. Sweetie really is a sweetheart trying to live her best life. She loves to give licks and nose boops. Sweetie loves to carry her toys around the house and an occasional shoe or 2 have been found in her bed.

These animals are all so deserving and thankful to get a second chance in finding a forever home of their own! A Note from the Foster: Waffle is such a sweet soul. She absolutely loves to play and would benefit best with a fenced in yard. She is only ten months old so she often thinks nipping is playing but responds well to a stern “no” once…or maybe twice. She knows how to sit and wait for food- she is so sweet! She is not a big cuddler but loves for you to sit on the ground and scratch her. Waffle sleeps all night quietly in her kennel and is completely potty trained. She dribbles if she is very excited but nothing uncontrollable. Whoever adopts her will be such a lucky family, she is so loving but also gives you space.

Story
History: Bear FKA Blitz was recently returned to rescue when he was no longer a match for his adopter. He has settled back into rescue and is doing well! He hopes to find his forever home soon! A Note from the Foster: I am proud to introduce Bear. He is a beautiful, fun-loving Akita/shepherd mix blend, and I believe there is some pittie in there as well. He loves his walks and car rides. He loves to meet new people but will pull back and bark if the meeting is a surprise for him. He loves to meet other dogs but gets very excited if he sees those other dogs and other critters at a distance, so he will need a firm hand on his leash. I have been around him almost full time right from the beginning so there is no formal crate training and I'm unsure how well he does with extended separation.

Story
History: Dennis has had two major surgeries in his young life. The first was to address an instability that he had in his neck. The vertebra were unstable causing pain and instability in walking. Surgery was done in March 2025 to stabilize the affect vertebra. He has been doing very well since and we expect him to not have any long term concerns. It is recommendation to not allow any stair or jumping up and down off of furniture. The second surgery was to address his bilateral luxating patellas. This surgery was done in June 2025. Both knees were done at the same time. The surgery was done to keep the patellas in the correct position as he bends his knees. He also has been doing quite well since those surgeries. It is recommended going forward to use a harness and not a collar for him. A Note from the Foster:Dennis a tiny 4 lbs sweet gremlin who will love you with his whole heart! He will also keep you busy, on your toes and provide you with laughter and smiles every day. Dennis is a pretty typical Pomeranian. He has an opinion on everything and he very loudly shares his thoughts. So, shared walls may not be the best for him or the neighbors. He’s a Velcro dog who anticipates where you may be going whenever you get up. Get used to Dennis meeting you in the bathroom. He doesn’t bark. He yacks. Yes, yacks in rapid succession but, always with a smile. Dennis is very trusting so he will simply fall into your arms assured you will catch him. He sleeps on my bed, because he’s not a fan of crates. He’s a good bedmate who will climb up on your chest, fall over with his front legs in the air, so your hands can substitute for a mobile that he can bat around for some minutes, until without warning he gets up and goes to the far corner of the bed and goes to sleep. It’s one of the many Dennis things that makes him the tiny little tyrant you will love. Dennis would do best in a home without young children, because he is so small and somewhat fragile due to his spinal surgery (he was born without a connection between his C1-C2 vertebrae, which was joined in a very complicated surgery). His ideal home would also be with someone who is home most of the time, as Dennis complains loudly whenever I go anywhere without him. He loves to be carried outside in a sling, although you have to be a wee bit careful he won’t jump out in excitement if he starts to yack in excitement when he sees someone he knows or simply something interesting. Potty training is ongoing, and may always be ongoing, because he’s really not interested in learning. Walking in a harness on a leash can also be hit or miss, hence the sling. Dennis is a 4 lbs little guy with a 4 ton personality, who will consider you to be his assistant rather than a Mom or Dad. But I promise you will fall in love with him and all, well at least almost all, of his quirks the first time you pick him up and look at his bright eyes and little smile!

These animals are all so deserving and thankful to get a second chance in finding a forever home of their own! A Note from the Foster: I now have a name…my foster mom named me Sprocket and I like being called by that name! A sprocket is something that engages with something else to make it work. That is definitely ME! Add me to your family and we can work together! My first 2 years I lived in northern North Dakota and I am now living in a warm foster home. Everyone says I am strong, so they gave me a gentle leader that goes across my face and now I don’t pull my humans much. I am a very fast learner; know sit and how to shake with my paw. I am starting to understand wait and stay(unless it’s food). My foster mom says I am very food motivated and willing to learn. I am potty trained, sleep all night in a kennel, and up to date on all medical which means I am up for adoption. Oh one more thing….I am not a couch potato….I don’t even look at furniture, I like a comfy bed.
