In addition to the following profile for this dog, please first read the Adoption Information at http://www.shihtzurescuemn.org/adopt.html to understand the process, requirements and timeline for adoption. An adoption application can also be found in the Adoption Info section. If, after reading that information, you have any questions, please submit your question via e-mail and it will be answered. Please do not request a phone call. A per-sonal phone call will only be made when an adoption application has been submitted and the foster parent wishes to consider the application. Thank you! Kala is a 5 year old, 22 pound female Shih Tzu/Bichon mix. She is a gorgeous caramel color and has beautiful long eye lashes. She came into rescue because her owner moved into an apartment which didn’t allow dogs. Kala enjoys going for walks and usually walks about a mile per day. She is very friendly and respectfully greets people and other dogs while on walks. She will sometimes play fetch with a ball or tug a war with one of her toys. She does like exercise, and runs outside to chase the resident rabbits and squirrels around the yard. A secure, fenced yard would be ideal for her. Kala is very sweet, well behaved, housetrained, and knows a few commands such as “sit” and “down”. She loves being with her foster parents and other people and will sit on your lap at every opportunity. She is good around other dogs and children, and would be a wonderful family dog. A family with older children who know how to engage with a small dog will be considered. Kala does require someone be at home with her the majority of the time and who will include her in their daily activities. She rides well in the car, and likes looking out the window, so hopefully her family will take her with them when appropriate. She likes nothing better than to be with her people, and that includes sleeping with them in their bed. These are the requirements for Kala’s new family: 1. Be home much of the day and include Kala in their daily activities. 2. A fenced yard would be wonderful, but is not a deal breaker, especially if Kala will be taken on long walks every day. She must have daily exercise to be happy. 3. A family with older, respectful children will be considered. 4. Live within 30 miles of Inver Grove Heights, MN. 5. Try to attend the annual Shih Tzu Rescue Reunion held in September each year. Kala is spayed, current on vaccinations, microchipped and on heartworm and flea/tick preventative. She has a history of urinary tract infections, which can recur, so her family must recognize the signs of an infection and have it treated immediately. Kala’s adoption fee is $370.00 plus $33.39 sales tax for a total fee of $403.39. To meet Kala, please complete an adoption application at the website listed in the first paragraph. Or you can also see her and the other dogs available for adoption from Shih Tzu Rescue of Minnesota by visiting with us from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon the first Saturday of every month at the Southtown PetCo in Bloomington, MN.

Story
Hi there! I’m Darby — your future best friend and professional snuggle buddy! 🐾I’m a mix of Labrador Retriever and Australian Cattle Dog, which means I’ve got a big heart, a loyal spirit, and a thoughtful, sensitive soul. I may not be the first to run up and say hi, but give me a little time and patience, and you’ll see — I’m full of love just waiting for the right person to share it with.I’ve mastered the basics like house training and I’m great on a leash now — walks are one of my favorite ways to spend time with my people! I get along well with other dogs, especially with slow, gentle introductions that help me feel safe. I currently live with two dog siblings who look a bit like me, and we love to cuddle up on the couch or romp around the yard together. While I’m not a big fan of being in the kennel (I’d much rather be curled up on the couch, your bed, or wherever my humans and dog friends are!), I’m well-behaved and respectful around the house. I’m also a polite guest — just give me a comfy spot and a chew bone, and I’m a happy girl.Men can make me a little nervous at first, but I’m trying hard to be brave. With kindness, calm energy, and a little time, I warm up and become a deeply loyal and loving companion. I’m not just looking for any home — I’m hoping for one where I can truly feel safe and part of the family. My foster mom says I’m a sweet, smart, and thoughtful girl who’s always trying her best. If you’re looking for a gentle soul with a big heart and the loyalty of a Lab mixed with the devotion and intelligence of a Cattle Dog — I just might be your perfect match.-------------All our Warrior Dogs will have all age appropriate medical care and vaccines, a microchip, and spayed/neutered if the dog is over 6 months of age at the time of adoption. Please note that the majority of our dogs in rescue are from shelters where they have been found as strays or abandoned. Their breed description is based on our very best educated guess based on physical characteristics and their dispositions. If they came to our rescue as an owner surrender, the breed description will be listed as provided by the previous owner.Adoption Fee - $500To apply for this pup, please submit an Adoption Application at http://warriordogrescue.com/adopt/adoption-application/

Story
Hi, I'm Oscar! My foster mom calls me her gentle giant, and she’s right—I’m about 70 lbs of soft, calm, and loving energy. These days, I’m showing off more of my confident and playful side! I’ve learned how nice it feels to ask for pets with gentle nudges, and I really enjoy being close to my people.I live with my sister and two other dogs, and we have a blast playing together. I’m also learning it’s okay to have a little fun chatting with the neighbor dogs over the fence!I’d do best in a calm home with a fenced yard, since sudden noises can still startle me. I’m gaining confidence every day, especially with patient people and maybe a friendly dog buddy to show me the ropes. Gentle, older kids who understand that I sometimes need space would be just fine, too.I’m house-trained, sleep wonderfully in my crate, am a great car rider, and am an easy companion—quiet, affectionate, and happy just to be near you. I am just the best couch potato around! If you’re looking for a loyal, gentle dog who’ll bring warmth and calm to your home, I’d love to meet you.Love, Oscar--------------------------------------------All our Warrior Dogs will have all age appropriate medical care and vaccines, a microchip, and spayed/neutered if the dog is over 6 months of age at the time of adoption. Story
Hi there! My name’s Sweetie, and I promise I live up to my name! I’m a 40-pound bundle of love, wiggles, and squeaky-toy enthusiasm, looking for my forever family. I’m the perfect mix of playful and snuggly—give me a tennis ball or a stuffie and I’ll show off my best fetch moves, then curl up on the couch or in my cozy crate for a nap. I’m house trained, crate trained, and sleep quietly through the night like a good girl. I even know how to sit! My favorite part of the day is just being near my people (and maybe sneaking in a few kisses while I’m at it).I get along great with other dogs and would love a buddy to romp around with—or I’ll happily soak up all your attention if I’m your one and only. I’m still learning my leash manners, but I’m eager to please and love learning new things. When you come to meet me, be prepared for a big smile and my signature wiggly butt dance! I’ve got a heart full of love just waiting for the right family to share it with—could that be you?Sweetie is Heartworm positive and is waiting for a negative test result which can take 2-9 months after treatment. Her treatment has been completed and she will need a Heartworm test every 2 months to follow up on her treatment progress until she has a negative result. During these months, you will need to make sure her heart rate is not elevated due to high energy play or exercise. Sweetie will also need continued use of monthly Heartworm prevention going forward. These medical needs will be the responsibility of the adopter. --------------------------------------------All our Warrior Dogs will have all age appropriate medical care and vaccines, a microchip, and spayed/neutered if the dog is over 6 months of age at the time of adoption. Story
*Felicity’s adoption fee has been sponsored thanks to a generous donor*Oh, hi there! I'm so happy you found me. My name is Felicity. I am a playful, spunky and snuggly girl looking for my furever family. I've been so loved in foster homes since I was a puppy, but I know my family is out there!!I currently live in a condo with my foster mom and cat friends, but I have also lived in a house with a foster dad, mom, teenagers and other dogs with a fenced in yard. I have done well with the little kids I have met that are respectful of me. I take a little time to warm up, but not too long! Once I get to know you, I'm your best buddy. I am house trained and do well on leash or freely in the backyard. I am crate trained. I can sleep in my crate at night and when I'm home alone. I go in happily with a treat and love my cozy bed. I also love to sleep in bed with my foster mom though! I'm a great napper, super snuggly and love to give kisses! I'm just the right size too; not too big and not too small!I do bark at new things or in new situations, but I am a good listener and am corrected easily. I would do best with a patient and confident person who is experienced with dogs and is consistent with me! I am such a loving and special pup. My foster families have absolutely loved me and believe that the perfect family is out there looking for me. Is it you? X0XOXO,Felicity Felicity is a little fighter who has been diagnosed with autoimmune disease called Canine dermatomyositis (DMS) which is an inherited disease that causes inflammation of the skin, muscles, and blood vessels in dogs. She deserves to find her family just like every other dog up for adoption in rescue. If you feel you can provide her with all that she needs, a lifetime of love and care, snuggles and commitment, please make sure to fill out an adoption application. --------------------------------------------All our Warrior Dogs will have all age appropriate medical care and vaccines, a microchip, and spayed/neutered if the dog is over 6 months of age at the time of adoption. Story
Hi! I'm Tommy! I came from Alabama, me and my brothers were on our own until some wonderful people found us. I've made it all the way to Minnesota and boy oh boy am I loving it!! Currently, I'm living with my foster mom and dad, and 4 other doggos! I love them all!! My foster mom says I love everything and I'm always happy!! She's right! She also says I'm one of the bestest boys ever!! I'm excellent on my leash, I've learned to be comfortable in my kennel when I eat, at night, and when my fosters aren't at home. I'm so close to doing all my duties outside, very few accidents, so that's good! My fosters have noticed that not only am I super cute, I'm also super smart. I've picked up on so many things like good manners, being gentle, and listening to my people. You should come and meet me, and see what a perfect pup I really am! See ya soon!!!--------------------------------------------All our Warrior Dogs will have all age appropriate medical care and vaccines, a microchip, and spayed/neutered if the dog is over 6 months of age at the time of adoption.
