In addition to the following profile for this dog, please first read the Adoption Information at http://www.shihtzurescuemn.org/adopt.html to understand the process, requirements and timeline for adoption. An adoption application can also be found in the Adoption Info section. If, after reading the information you have any questions, please submit your question via e-mail and it will be answered. Please do not request a phone call. A personal phone call will only be made when an adoption application has been submitted and the foster parent wishes to consider the application. Thank you! Zoey is a seven-month-old Shih Tzu/Maltese mix with the perfect blend of playful puppy energy and sweet cuddle-bug charm. This adorable little girl is currently thriving in her foster home, where she spends her days playing fetch with neighborhood children, exploring the backyard, and curling up on the couch for snuggles at the end of the day. Zoey absolutely lights up when she hears kids nearby and happily runs along the fence to greet her neighborhood friends. She would love a forever home with a fenced yard where she can safely play, explore, and burn off some of her puppy energy. Like any young puppy, Zoey is still learning the ropes. She is smart, eager to please, and enjoys learning new things, but she will need a family committed to continuing her training and socialization. Puppy classes will help her build confidence and develop into a well-mannered adult dog. She already loves playing fetch — she’s just still working on the “bring it back” part! Zoey is also working on potty training and will need consistency, patience, and a regular routine to succeed. She currently goes outside every 3–4 hours and does best with a structured feeding and potty schedule. Daily walks help keep her happy and engaged. At night, Zoey sleeps peacefully in a crate beside her foster family’s bed, though she would happily trade that for a cozy spot snuggled up with her forever family. Zoey is looking for a loving home that understands puppy hood requires time, patience, and commitment — but the reward is a lifetime of love, laughter, and companionship. If you’re searching for a playful, affectionate companion to grow with your family, Zoey may be the perfect match for you! Apply today to meet this sweet little girl! The following are requirements for Zoey’s adoption: 1. Since Zoey is still a puppy and small dogs can live 16+ years, applications will only be accepted from age-appropriate individuals who will be able to provide the activity, care and comfort that Zoey will need for her entire life. 2. Someone who is home much of the day, since Zoey needs continued house training. She also thrives on the companionship of her humans. 3. A family who will actively participate in puppy training classes with Zoey and will provide the physical activity and stimulation that a puppy requires. Having a secure, fenced yard would be ideal. 4. Applications from a family with children over the age of ten who have demonstrated an understanding of and have experience in gently interacting with a small dog will be considered since Zoey seems to really enjoy her interactions with children. 5. Live within 30 minutes of Fridley, MN. 6. Agree to attend the annual Shih Tzu Rescue Reunion held in September of each year. Zoey is current on vaccinations, microchipped, and is on heartworm and flea/tick preventative. She is scheduled to be spayed June 23, 2026 and will be ready for her forever home after a short recovery period. We are currently accepting applications for her adoption and she can go to her new home once she has recovered from her spay surgery. Zoey’s adoption fee is $520.00 plus $46.93 in sales tax, for a total of $566.93. To meet Zoey, please complete an adoption application at the website listed in the first paragraph. Or you can also see her and the other dogs available for adoption from Shih Tzu Rescue of Minnesota by visiting with us from 10:00 a.m. to noon the first Saturday of every month at the Chuck & Don’s, 8537 Lyndale Avenue S., in Bloomington.

*Star’s adoption fee has been fully sponsored by a generous donor*Hello! My name is Star and I’m ready to light up your life! My life in a nutshell? Well, up until I came to Minnesota, I lived in Alabama with my five babies. But it wasn’t glamorous, we lived in the woods. I approached a home, led them to where we were living and they got us to safety. Now that all of my pups are adopted and in loving homes, I think that it’s my turn! I’m a quirky, gentle girl with a heart full of love. I guess you could say that I’m cautious, new things still make me a little nervous. But with a bit of patience and a lot of pets, I warm up pretty quickly. I like to be around my people, curling up in cozy spots and giving soft nose boops. Once I’m comfortable, my silly side will definitely come out! I’m a very loyal girl once I know that I’m safe with you. I can’t wait to find my forever home and live the best life that I can. I know that I’m someone’s perfect match, hopefully it’s you! Love, Star--------------------------------------------All our Warrior Dogs will have all age appropriate medical care and vaccines, a microchip, and spayed/neutered if the dog is over 6 months of age at the time of adoption. Please note that the majority of our dogs in rescue are from shelters where they have been found as strays or abandoned. Their breed description is based on our very best educated guess based on physical characteristics and their dispositions. If they came to our rescue as an owner surrender, the breed description will be listed as provided by the previous owner.Adoption Fee - $0To apply for this pup, please submit an Adoption Application at http://warriordogrescue.com/adopt/adoption-application/

*Felicity’s adoption fee has been sponsored thanks to a generous donor*Oh, hi there! I'm so happy you found me. My name is Felicity. I am a playful, spunky and snuggly girl looking for my furever family. I've been so loved in foster homes since I was a puppy, but I know my family is out there!!I currently live in a condo with my foster mom and cat friends, but I have also lived in a house with a foster dad, mom, teenagers and other dogs with a fenced in yard. I have done well with the little kids I have met that are respectful of me. I take a little time to warm up, but not too long! Once I get to know you, I'm your best buddy. I am house trained and do well on leash or freely in the backyard. I am crate trained. I can sleep in my crate at night and when I'm home alone. I go in happily with a treat and love my cozy bed. I also love to sleep in bed with my foster mom though! I'm a great napper, super snuggly and love to give kisses! I'm just the right size too; not too big and not too small!I do bark at new things or in new situations, but I am a good listener and am corrected easily. I would do best with a patient and confident person who is experienced with dogs and is consistent with me! I am such a loving and special pup. My foster families have absolutely loved me and believe that the perfect family is out there looking for me. Is it you? X0XOXO,Felicity Felicity is a little fighter who has been diagnosed with autoimmune disease called Canine dermatomyositis (DMS) which is an inherited disease that causes inflammation of the skin, muscles, and blood vessels in dogs. She deserves to find her family just like every other dog up for adoption in rescue. If you feel you can provide her with all that she needs, a lifetime of love and care, snuggles and commitment, please make sure to fill out an adoption application. --------------------------------------------All our Warrior Dogs will have all age appropriate medical care and vaccines, a microchip, and spayed/neutered if the dog is over 6 months of age at the time of adoption. Story
Hello – I’m Tami! You were likely drawn to my picture because I am gorgeous, but my personality in real life is sure to melt your heart.I am affectionate and sweet, and my whole face and body light up when I see my people. I am brand new to Minnesota and still settling into my foster home where I am good with everyone, including the gentle dogs and the suspicious cats. I love being with people, but I don’t really know how to live inside yet – everything is new and I want to crawl into little spaces to feel safe. I don’t quite understand how I am supposed to do my “business” with everyone staring at me, so I hold it in until I can get some privacy; my foster family is really happy when I do that outside. I wish I could tell my whole story so you could understand why I sometimes skitter away when people try to grab me or put things over my head. I was found in Alabama as a stray young mama, trying to keep my puppies safe. Some nice people brought us into rescue, where I’ve been getting healthier and am filling out my skinny 45 lb frame. I am now in Minnesota looking for my forever home. My foster family has very quickly fallen in love with me and would love to keep me, but they think there is a super special home for me. I am very smart and very sensitive, and my foster mom thinks my ideal home would be with someone who has experience with dogs like me and who can give me time, patience and heart to support me as I build confidence and trust. I would love to be with someone who understands my herding instincts (so they can keep my brain busy and don’t trip over me when I crouch at their feet!). My foster mom also says that I deserve someone who will be very devoted to me, as I will be a very devoted, special companion. The right dog friend would be nice to help me come out of my shell and learn to be a dog, but some dogs can be a bit overwhelming and scary for me.My foster mom says she’s pretty sure that I am meant to be somebody’s Soul Dog… is that somebody you?--------------------------------------------All our Warrior Dogs will have all age appropriate medical care and vaccines, a microchip, and spayed/neutered if the dog is over 6 months of age at the time of adoption. Story
Lydia, oh Lydia, oh have you met Lydia? Lydia the polka-dot foxhound!Hi, there - I'm Lydia! I'm a 48-pound goofy snuggle bug looking for my forever family! My favorite place to be is snuggled up next to my human, burrowed allllllll the way under a blanket. I can't help but wag my tail at new people - anyone who wants to give me pets is an instant friend. My favorite days are spent napping, sniffing around the neighborhood on a moderate walk or sniffari, and chewing on a toy or treat.I love to run around and chase a squeaky ball from time to time, but not for too long before I'm ready to cuddle right up next to you. Sometimes I forget to bring the ball back - I get so excited to squeak it as much as I want!! My head and ears are super soft, which is lucky for me because that's my favorite place for pets. I have lots of super cute polka dots all over my tummy, which make their grand debut every spring.I am house-trained and perfectly happy to be left on my own for a while, especially if I can cozy into a comfy couch or bed (dog or human bed is fine!) I know sit, down, stay, wait, and "watch me!"I tend to get nervous around young kids and their unpredictability, so I need to be in a home without them. But I love all grownup humans - even older kids and teenagers are my friends! I get along fine with other dogs with similarly calm vibes, or would be totally content as an only dog.If you're looking for an affectionate, silly, lowkey companion, I'd love to wag my way into your heart! 🐶❤️-------------------------------------------All our Warrior Dogs will have all age appropriate medical care and vaccines, a microchip, and spay/neuter before adoption unless age is a factor with a puppy younger than 6-12 months at the time of adoption. If that is the case, the spay/neuter will be covered in the adoption fee and the owner will be responsible to have the procedure completed at a Warrior Dog Rescue Veterinarian at the appropriate time. Please note that the majority of our dogs in rescue are from shelters where they have been found as strays or abandoned. Story
Dear Future Family,My name is Monroe!! If you’re looking for a gentle, loyal best friend, I just might be your guy. I’m an 80-pound sweetheart from Alabama with a soft heart and an even softer spot for snuggles. My favorite things in life are pretty simple: curling up on the couch with my humans, snuggling in bed, belly scratches in the morning, car rides, ground chicken (seriously… the way to my heart), and hearing that I’m a “good boy.” I love other dogs, and more than anything, I love simply being with my people. Wherever you go, I’ll happily follow — my foster mom says I’m her shadow.I’m a calm, low-key kind of guy. I’m not looking to run marathons — I’d much rather spend the day snoozing nearby while you work, relaxing on the couch, or keeping you company around the house. When my humans come home from work, it’s truly the best part of my day!!I’m fully house-trained and very well-behaved in the home. At night, I sleep nicely in my crate with no issues as long as I can see my humans nearby. But if you let me, I’d be very happy snuggling up in bed with you instead — that’s kind of my dream! One thing I’ve learned about myself is that I actually do much better left out when you’re away instead of being crated. Give me a comfy couch, turn on some cartoons, and I’ll happily nap the day away until you come home.I can be shy and fearful with strangers, especially men, and I do best with slow introductions and patient people who understand that trust takes time for me. Right now, I’m learning that not all strangers are scary, that my humans always come back, and that men can be safe too. Once I feel secure, though, my sweet personality shines through beautifully. At the end of the day, I’m really just a loving boy who wants to feel safe, spend time with his people, and stay close to the ones he loves. I’m easy to please — all I really want is kindness, patience, a cozy place to nap, and someone to love.If you’re willing to go slow with me at first, I promise I’ll give you the most loyal heart in return.Love,MonroeMonroe is Heartworm positive and is waiting for a negative test result which can take 2-9 months after treatment. His treatment has been completed and he will need a Heartworm test every 2 months to follow up on his treatment progress until he has a negative result. During these months, you will need to make sure his heart rate is not elevated due to high energy play or exercise. Monroe will also need continued use of monthly Heartworm prevention going forward. These medical needs will be the responsibility of the adopter. --------------------------------------------All our Warrior Dogs will have all age appropriate medical care and vaccines, a microchip, and spayed/neutered if the dog is over 6 months of age at the time of adoption.
