Charlie is a 13-year-old male Shih Tzu mix that weighs 9 pounds. He has beautiful curly white and brown fur. Charlie’s owner died and a family friend cared for him for a while, but was eventually surrendered to our rescue due to the family having 3 large dogs who intimidated and overpowered him. Charlie has no teeth therefore he eats small kibble or moist dog food and soft treats. He has some hearing loss and gets startled easily if touched from behind. Charlie is a loving, happy guy. He follows his people and wants to be by you or at least always be able to see you. He spends his day sleeping near his foster family while they work at home. Charlie shows no interest in playing with toys. He enjoys going outside and loves a fenced in yard. He is house trained but needs to be let out every few hours. His foster parents make sure to let him out before leaving the house and frequently throughout the day. He sleeps contently in his own bed at night but would love to sleep in his people’s bed if given the opportunity. Charlie enjoys looking out the patio window, scouting out invading birds and squirrels on the deck. He doesn’t bark much when his foster family is around but gets very excited when his foster family returns home. When the weather is warm, he likes to sit out on the deck with his foster family. He walks well on the leash and loves to go to the park. Charlie has had frequent ear infections in the past and his adopters must clean his ears once a week to prevent infection. An adults only home would suit him perfectly, although older children (older than 12 years), who are respectful, would be okay. Charlie has no teeth, so he eats small kibble or moist dog food and soft treats. He has some hearing loss and gets startled easily if touched from behind. He would be okay with another small dog in the house, and may rely on the other dog if his hearing continues to diminish. These are the requirements for Charlie’s new family: • A stay-at-home family, or a family where someone is home most of the day. Older children would be okay. • A fenced yard is a plus but not a requirement. He will explore the outdoors but should not be left alone outside. • A family that is willing to clean his ears once a week. • A family who lives within 30 miles of the Twin Cities. While Charlie is 13 years old, he will still bring many years of love and companionship to a family who will open their hearts to a senior dog. We hope his new family will plan to attend the annual Shih Tzu Rescue Reunion every year in September. Charlie is neutered, current on vaccinations, and on heartworm and flea & tick preventative medication. Charlie’s adoption fee is $75.00 plus $6.39 sales tax for a total cost of $81.39. I’m Nutella and am from Alabama. My foster momma says I should dream big because I deserve my biggest dream. So here it goes. My wish is to find my forever home. A home that is going to love me unconditionally for all that I am. See I only have three legs. After I was hit by a car in 2023 the doctors did everything they could to save my leg however the best thing for me was to amputate in April 2023. I’ve had to adjust lots since then however I’m a Warrior! These amazing humans from Warrior Dog Rescue brought me to Minnesota where more amazing humans brought me into their home, have shown me so much love, and taken care of me while I continue to heal. They have taken me to a special dog therapy doctor. I have a special bed I lay on every day that is really helping me feel better. I also take some really good medication that helps me feel better too. Our goal is to one day not need all of them. We are working on my walking. I can walk about five minutes and then I need to be done but each week I can another 5 minutes and see how I do. I do get pretty sore but we are confident in time I’ll be able to walk longer. It’s hard to keep me down :) I’m in what the humans call my adolescence stage. Where I can be a little stubborn and sassy. I need a family that will understand my breed and need for at times to have some space and make me take “breaks” as my foster mom calls them. See sometimes I don’t know what’s best for me and I need to take a break. I dream of a home that will have a fenced in yard to keep me safe. As much as I like to play with the dogs I live with (4 of them), I might like being the only dog or one that doesn’t mind me stealing the bones and toys and doesn’t react. I really like the resident cat and we play often. My other dream would be to have a home where they continue to help me on my healing journey and a home without a lot of stairs. My foster mom says I’m the best snuggler and have the softest ears. She giggles when they bounce when I bark. I love snuggling in bed and enjoy the little massages I get. I do really well in my kennel when they leave for work or when they leave me out. I also like to chew on bones and balls. I also like when my foster momma puts out puzzles for me to play with, it keeps my mind busy and really enjoy the treats that are in them. I can’t wait to be able to run in the yard and chase after the ball like I used to. I also love to be outside and find the treasures I bring outside and chew on sticks. I really like being on the boat in the summer. Foster momma also says there are so many things to love about me it’s hard to put in words. My name is Blitz and I'm SO HAPPY to meet you! I love all people, regardless of shape, size or smell. I also love other dogs and desperately want them to play with me! Sometimes I get a little too excited to meet them, so I still need a little reminder to read social cues and understand when they don't want to play anymore. I've also tried to play with cats, guinea pigs, and chickens (they all turned me down, but boy am I interested in them!)I was born in April of 2023, so I'm young but my body grew up FAST! I'm a big boy, so I'm learning new skills every day to make sure that I don't overwhelm people with my love. I'm really smart, and really REALLY food motivated, so I'm easy to train. I love my kennel, and I sleep in there every night without issue. I'm totally house-trained, and I let my people know when I need to go outside by tapping on the door (see? told you I was smart!) I am good on a leash and in the car; as long as I'm with my pack, I'm happy to do whatever! I do take a daily medication for a quirky condition I have, but I take my pills easily and without problem. This doesn't affect my quality of life AT ALL, and the doctors say that as long as I take my daily (affordable) meds, I will live a long happy, and healthy life. Do you want to snuggle? Watch movies? Go for a run? Sit outside for hours? I'm up for all of that! I just want a family that I can share my surplus of love with! Is that you? Hi There! I’m Eddie, a big hunk of a guy that people and dogs alike instantly fall in love with. Let me tell you a bit about myself- I love being outside in the yard- running, chasing a ball, exploring, and wrestling with my 4-legged foster brother. I've even mastered the doggie door! I love going on walks and am doing well not pulling on my leash. I happily go into my kennel when I hear the word "kennel" and am offered the tiniest bit of cheese (string is my favorite!) at bedtime and when my foster family is gone from the house. My foster mom works a hybrid job and when she is home, I'm just the best assistant for her and lay quietly near her without invading her space or distracting her. I am a super chewer and hard sticks and balls keep me busy and happy for hours. I'm told I'm pretty smart and know how to sit, down, and belly up. I'm pretty smart and can learn lots more too. I just want to be the best boy for my family. Speaking of families, I just love all kids, and all dogs and will be such a great addition to your family. I'm just a happy guy with a permanent smile and tongue out, who loves a scratch behind the ear, looking for his forever people. Hi! My name is Beckham. I am a super sweet, affectionate, and soft puppy! Since coming to MN, I have really come out of my shell and grown in my confidence!I am so excited and happy to be with my foster brothers and sisters. I’m the youngest but I think I’m a big guy! I love to be where the action is and if I hear someone call me in an excited voice or I know there is food, I come running!Some special things to know about me:**I sleep in my crate at night and rest there at times during the day if my foster family isn’t home. I do such a good job. I really like it if you give me a treat when I go in!**I am completely potty trained and have never had an accident inside since being at my foster family’s home. Going outside often helps and I will also go to the door to tell you!**I love to go outside in the back yard and run, play and sniff. Playing and wrestling with the other pups makes me super happy. I enjoy going on walks too!**I get along wonderfully with all the other dogs I’ve met. Being a puppy still, it would be really great to have a home with another dog sibling older than me to show me the ropes and continue to help me learn boundaries, help me feel safe and to have fun playing together! **I love to nap! You name the place, I’ll be there. I snuggle up against you or other pups. If you pet me while I nap, even better.**I get excited about toys and love to shake them, chew them and toss them until I find that squeaker!I have a good sounding bark which I like to use when I’m startled or feel a little nervous.
