Story
In addition to the following profile for this dog, please first read the Adoption Information at http://www.shihtzurescuemn.org/adopt.html to understand the process, requirements and timeline for adoption. An adoption application can also be found in the Adoption Info section. If, after reading that information, you have any questions, please submit your question via e-mail and it will be answered. Please do not request a phone call. A per-sonal phone call will only be made when an adoption application has been submitted and the foster parent wishes to consider the application. Thank you! Luna is a 5 year old, 14 pound, female Shih Tzu/Poodle mix. She came into rescue because her owners couldn’t devote the necessary time that she needs. Luna is an active dog who needs exercise every day. She walks over a mile a day, enjoying all the sniffs and smells, and greeting other dogs and people. She runs outside to chase the resident rabbits and squirrels around the yard. It would be ideal for Luna to have a fenced yard, but it is not absolutely required, as long as her new family will provide the daily activity she needs. When inside, she will play fetch with a ball and her other toys. Luna is well behaved and enjoys being around her foster parents and other people and doesn’t venture outside by herself unless one of her foster parents is with her. She is just a very sweet, affectionate dog who just loves to be with her people, especially sitting on their lap. Luna needs to have someone at home the majority of the day. She is good around other dogs and would be a wonderful addition to a family with older, respectful children, where she would be the beloved family dog. She is very alert and will bark when someone is at the door or if she hears a noise outside, so it would be best if she lives in a single family home rather than a condo or townhouse with shared walls. Luna is housetrained, and currently sleeps either in her own bed or under her foster parents’ bed. Her foster family is not sure why she does this but would love for her to sleep with them in their bed. Hopefully her new family will encourage her to sleep with them as well. She knows basic commands such as sit, down, stay, and come (especially for a treat). As mentioned above, Luna must have a family in which someone is home most of the day. She does have some separation anxiety, which her foster parents are working with her to overcome. Her new family must understand this and continue to help Luna feel more secure and confident when she is left alone. In addition, she whines while riding in the back seat of the car, but probably just wants to ride in the front with her people. Luna is a delightful, sweet, affectionate girl who will bring much joy to a family. These are the requirements for her new family: 1. Someone must be home most of the day. Luna has some separation anxiety and doesn’t do well if left alone for extended periods. Integrating Luna into the family’s daily activities would be ideal. 2. A family who will provide the daily physical activity and mental stimulation that Luna needs. This includes long daily walks and playing outdoors, weather permitting. A secure, fenced yard would be great but is not a deal breaker. 3. A family with children over the age of ten who have demonstrated an understanding of how to gently and respectfully interact with a small dog will be considered. 4. Live within 30 miles of Inver Grove Heights, MN. 5. Attend the annual Shih Tzu Rescue Reunion held each September. Luna is spayed, current on vaccinations, microchipped, and on heartworm and flea/tick preventative. Her adoption fee is $370.00 plus $33.39 sales tax for a total fee of $403.39. To meet Luna, please complete an adoption application at the website listed in the first paragraph. Or you can also see her and the other dogs available for adoption from Shih Tzu Rescue of Minnesota at their Meet and Greet from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon the first Saturday of every month at Chuck & Don’s, 8537 Lyndale Avenue S., in Bloomington, MN. But due to the 4th of July holiday, they will be at Chuck & Don’s on July 11th instead, but the first Saturday each month thereafter.

Please do not request a phone call. A personal phone call will only be made when an adoption application has been submitted and the foster parent wishes to consider the application. Thank you! Are you looking for a social butterfly? A lover of children and all adults? Then look no further, Lexi is the dog you are looking for! Lexi is a 5 year old Shih Tzu/Poodle mix who just wants to be with you and follow you everywhere. She is a very adept kisser and cuddler. She is puppy-like in that she is very active and playful. Lexi loves to go on walks and greets other people and dogs like they are her long lost friend. When at home wants to be on top of you or touching you, and at night will sleep next to you in bed. Thank goodness she is only 11 pounds. Housetraining is still a work in progress, but she does know that outside is the correct place to go. Her foster mom is being consistent with taking her out on a regular, frequent schedule, which has been working well, and her adopters must continue to work with her so that she becomes reliably housetrained. This will require initially taking her out every few hours; any longer than that and she will have an accident in the house. Lexi is a happy, delightful little girl who will really will light up your life! These are the requirements for her ideal family: 1. Have an active energy level to match Lexi’s. She needs to go on a brisk walk 2-3 times a day. She also needs lots of interactive playtime. 2. Commit to continue with her housetraining, which will require being able to take her out every few hours. The family must understand that Lexi can only accomplish this with their help. 3. Be home much of the day and include Lexi in your daily activities. This will keep any separation anxiety to a minimum. 4. If the home has children they need to be over the age of 10, and understand and demonstrate how to gently and respectfully interact with a small dog. 5. Live within 40 miles of Eden Prairie, MN 6. Attend the annual Shih Tzu Rescue Reunion held each year in September. Lexi is spayed, current on vaccinations, microchipped, and on heartworm and flea/tick preventative. Her adoption fee is $370.00 plus $33.39 sales tax for a total of $403.39. To meet Lexi, please complete an adoption application using the website listed above. You can also meet Lexi and other dogs available for adoption from Shih Tzu Rescue of Minnesota at the rescue’s monthly Meet & Greet, held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on the first Saturday of each month at Chuck & Don's, 8537 Lyndale Avenue S., Bloomington, MN. Because of the Independence Day holiday, the July event will be held on July 11, with the regular first Saturday schedule resuming thereafter.

Please do not request a phone call. A personal phone call will only be made when an adoption application has been submitted and the foster parent wishes to consider the application. Thank you! Scout is a 3½-year-old, 13-pound neutered male Shih Tzu who came into rescue when his previous family was unable to take him with them when they moved. Scout is the perfect mix of playful and laid-back. He enjoys his daily walks, gets the occasional case of the zoomies, and likes tossing around a small plush toy now and then. Most of the time, though, he's happiest simply relaxing beside his people. Whether you're working, watching TV, or doing chores around the house, Scout's favorite place is wherever you are. He is a sweet, gentle companion who forms strong bonds with his people and enjoys being included in everyday life. Scout is doing well in his foster home and is well behaved around visitors. He enjoys being outdoors when one of his foster parents goes with him. New places can make him a little nervous at first, so he'll need a family willing to give him time, patience, and reassurance while he settles into his new home. Scout does well with children and would be okay in a household with children who understand how to gently and respectfully interact with a small dog. After saying hello, he's content to lie nearby and watch the action. Scout gets along well with other small dogs and is generally happy to coexist with them. Larger dogs, however, can make him uncomfortable, especially if they approach his favorite person, and he may bark or back away. Because of this, Scout would likely be happiest as the only dog in the home or with another calm, small dog that doesn't expect a constant playmate. He is housetrained as long as he's given regular opportunities to go outside every 4-6 hours. At bedtime, Scout happily sleeps in his own bed or at the foot of his foster parent's bed, where he enjoys his favorite cuddle time. He also rides beautifully in the car and usually sleeps the entire trip. He reliably responds and comes when called, and he continues to impress his foster family. Scout is a delightful, affectionate little guy who will make a wonderful companion for a family looking for a loyal best friend. His ideal home will: 1. Include someone who can provide regular potty breaks every 4-6 hours and give him the patience he needs to adjust to new surroundings. 2. Include him in daily family life, as he truly enjoys being with his people. 3. Provide daily walks, light playtime, and, most importantly, plenty of cuddles. A securely fenced yard would be a bonus but is not required. 4. Have older, respectful children who understand how to interact gently with a small dog, if children are in the home. 5. Be located within 50 miles of Coon Rapids, MN. 6. Attend the annual Shih Tzu Rescue Reunion held each September. Scout is neutered, current on vaccinations, microchipped, and on heartworm and flea/tick preventative. His adoption fee is $420.00 plus $37.91 sales tax, for a total adoption fee of $457.91. To meet Scout, please complete an adoption application using the website listed above. You can also meet Scout and other dogs available for adoption from Shih Tzu Rescue of Minnesota at the monthly Meet & Greet, held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on the first Saturday of each month at Chuck & Don's, 8537 Lyndale Avenue S., Bloomington, MN. Please do not request a phone call. A personal phone call will only be made when an adoption application has been submitted and the foster parent wishes to consider the application. Thank you! Gizmo is a wonderful little Shih Tzu and Maltese mix. He is 8 years old and weighs 11 pounds. He is learning how to overcome months of neglect and isolation in his former home and is slowly making improvements while receiving love and care. He came into rescue suffering from long standing ear infections as well as severe dental disease. He has received thorough veterinary care while in rescue, and his initial defensive behavior has now changed to that of a sweet, loving boy. He was just in so much physical pain that he didn’t want to be touched, especially near his head. Gizmo is house trained, and loves at last being able to roam freely in his foster home rather than being in a kennel for most of the day and night. He sleeps so sweetly with his foster mom at night, and during the day is quite the cuddler. He loves giving you kisses and showing affection. His foster mom is working on a simple solution for his food and toy guarding, which will resolve in time. Unfortunately, he does not like children so he must go into an adoptive without children. However, we have found that after getting to know an older child, he does become a bit more comfortable with them. So an occasional visiting child might be okay. Gizmo loves to be outside walking with you! He really needs lots of exercise, so walking 2-3 times a day is quite essential for good behavior and for bonding with you. Gizmo is a lovely little boy and longs for a permanent forever home. If you meet the following requirements, please consider applying for him: 1. A quiet, adults only home, without children, where someone is home much of the day. He truly enjoys being with his people. 2. A fenced yard, if possible, as he loves to run and chase. 3. A home without another dog or cat - he craves affection all to himself. 4. Be willing and physically able to take Gizmo on 2-3 long walks every day. He really enjoys the outdoors and especially walking. 5. A family who is understanding and patient who will continue working with him to overcome his trust issues around his food and toys. 6. A home within 30 miles of Eden Prairie, MN. 7. Attend the annual Shih Tzu Rescue Reunion held each September. Gizmo is neutered, current on vaccinations, microchipped and on heartworm and flea/tick preventative. His adoption fee is $320.00 plus $28.88 sales tax for a total of $348.88. To meet Gizmo, please complete an adoption application using the website listed above. You can also meet Gizmo and other dogs available for adoption from Shih Tzu Rescue of Minnesota at the monthly Meet & Greet, held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on the first Saturday of each month at Chuck & Don's, 8537 Lyndale Avenue S., Bloomington, MN. *Star’s adoption fee has been fully sponsored by a generous donor*Hello! My name is Star and I’m ready to light up your life! My life in a nutshell? Well, up until I came to Minnesota, I lived in Alabama with my five babies. But it wasn’t glamorous, we lived in the woods. I approached a home, led them to where we were living and they got us to safety. Now that all of my pups are adopted and in loving homes, I think that it’s my turn! I’m a quirky, gentle girl with a heart full of love. I guess you could say that I’m cautious, new things still make me a little nervous. But with a bit of patience and a lot of pets, I warm up pretty quickly. I like to be around my people, curling up in cozy spots and giving soft nose boops. Once I’m comfortable, my silly side will definitely come out! I’m a very loyal girl once I know that I’m safe with you. I can’t wait to find my forever home and live the best life that I can. I know that I’m someone’s perfect match, hopefully it’s you! Love, Star--------------------------------------------All our Warrior Dogs will have all age appropriate medical care and vaccines, a microchip, and spayed/neutered if the dog is over 6 months of age at the time of adoption. Please note that the majority of our dogs in rescue are from shelters where they have been found as strays or abandoned. Their breed description is based on our very best educated guess based on physical characteristics and their dispositions. If they came to our rescue as an owner surrender, the breed description will be listed as provided by the previous owner.Adoption Fee - $0To apply for this pup, please submit an Adoption Application at http://warriordogrescue.com/adopt/adoption-application/

Story
*Felicity’s adoption fee has been sponsored thanks to a generous donor*Oh, hi there! I'm so happy you found me. My name is Felicity. I am a playful, spunky and snuggly girl looking for my furever family. I've been so loved in foster homes since I was a puppy, but I know my family is out there!!I currently live in a condo with my foster mom and cat friends, but I have also lived in a house with a foster dad, mom, teenagers and other dogs with a fenced in yard. I have done well with the little kids I have met that are respectful of me. I take a little time to warm up, but not too long! Once I get to know you, I'm your best buddy. I am house trained and do well on leash or freely in the backyard. I am crate trained. I can sleep in my crate at night and when I'm home alone. I go in happily with a treat and love my cozy bed. I also love to sleep in bed with my foster mom though! I'm a great napper, super snuggly and love to give kisses! I'm just the right size too; not too big and not too small!I do bark at new things or in new situations, but I am a good listener and am corrected easily. I would do best with a patient and confident person who is experienced with dogs and is consistent with me! I am such a loving and special pup. My foster families have absolutely loved me and believe that the perfect family is out there looking for me. Is it you? X0XOXO,Felicity Felicity is a little fighter who has been diagnosed with autoimmune disease called Canine dermatomyositis (DMS) which is an inherited disease that causes inflammation of the skin, muscles, and blood vessels in dogs. She deserves to find her family just like every other dog up for adoption in rescue. If you feel you can provide her with all that she needs, a lifetime of love and care, snuggles and commitment, please make sure to fill out an adoption application. --------------------------------------------All our Warrior Dogs will have all age appropriate medical care and vaccines, a microchip, and spayed/neutered if the dog is over 6 months of age at the time of adoption.
