Story
SE Thor's Hammer, R71B, L75002Hi. I’m Thor. I’m not quite the god of thunder that I’m named after, in fact I’m a sweet and submissive boy. I love walks and think they're awesome! I might secretly love people too, but I'm a little shy at first but curious. I like to come to people when I'm ready and enjoy getting pets. I love having my own space in the house, and as long as I have a refuge and squeaky stuffy toys, I tolerate a lot of activity going on in the house. I get along with dogs the best, calm children are my next favorite, then adults. Anyone noisy or fast, I'll most likely choose to go up to last. I would rather not be kenneled and be an only dog. I really look to other dogs for reassurance and do fine as long as I have a dog buddy to hang with. I also really don't like stairs and so far, no amount of bribery and FOMO has tempted me enough to give them a go. My foster mom will continue to encourage me to give them a try. My new foster mom also says that I have opened up so much in just the two weeks that she's been with me and that it will be amazing to see how much braver I will get once I'm with my forever family. Could you be that forever family?  To see other hounds currently in our care please visit the Hounds in Our Care page on our website. Story
Meet Marti! Marti is a 5 year old, neutered, double merle, male, who came to us almost completely feral. He is a slightly pudgy 40 pounds, crate trained, house broke (but still leaks a little urine when sleeping although we haven't tried medication for that yet as it has been improving). As he is double merle he has some vision issues as well. Marti will need a very special owner that is willing to give him plenty of time to learn to trust. At his foster home Marti gets along with other dogs, is great with cats, and walks off leash in a rural setting. Marti is that lower energy aussie everyone's looking for and would like a quiet home. Marti will need more training in cooperative Care which his foster is working on and is easy to implement. The details: Needs Fence: Depends on setting (needs to gain trust to be leashed, fence necessary in busier area) Good With Dogs: Yes Good With People: Needs patience Good with cats: Yes All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers. We need an approved application on file to set up a meeting with a dog you might be interested in. You can find our application at www.aussierescuemn.com. All dogs have an adoption fee of $300 plus MN sales tax. We pride ourselves on matches that are awesome for both the dog and your family. Aussie Rescue of MN is here for support, advice and as a safety net for our dogs for the rest of their lives.

Story
Meet Tanner! Tanner is a red tri Australian Shepherd born on March 14, 2021, entered the world under challenging circumstances, coming from a dog hoarding situation. When he arrived at his current home on September 25, 2023, Tanner was thin and fearful, bearing the scars of neglect. Despite his difficult past, Tanner's story is one of resilience and the transformative power of love. Initially cautious and skittish, Tanner struggled to adjust to his new environment. Simple tasks like being leashed or venturing downstairs filled him with anxiety. However, with patience and understanding, Tanner slowly began to overcome his fears. Around unfamiliar humans, especially females, Tanner remains cautious and quick to retreat. Yet, in the presence of his trusted caregiver, a 62-year-old male, Tanner finds comfort and security. Despite his apprehension, Tanner possesses a gentle and affectionate heart. When he feels safe, he exhibits a chill and easygoing demeanor, enjoying the simple pleasures of lounging in the yard and watching squirrels from the deck. Tanner's journey to trust has been aided by the presence of canine companions in his foster home. While he may not engage in play, he finds comfort in their company, providing him with a sense of belonging. To ensure Tanner's continued growth and well-being, he requires a special kind of family. An older, male caregiver in a calm environment would be best suited to meet his needs. While his compatibility with children remains uncertain, Tanner may thrive in a home with older kids or no children at all. Despite the challenges he has faced, Tanner's journey serves as a testament to the power of love and resilience. With each passing day, he takes another step forward on his path to healing, reminding us all of the importance of patience, compassion, and second chances. Shyla is being fostered by her owner in Hastings. Her owner states that she is calm, affectionate, curious, agile, cuddly, fun, friendly with humans, and nervous. Story
Meet Red! Red is an 8-year-old, red-bi, female. Red is currently 40 pounds and will need to be put on a diet and exercise plan. Do you have a New Year’s resolution to get out and walk more? Red can be your walking buddy. Red is very loyal to her people and her family, which makes meeting new people hard. She does well in her crate when the house gets too busy though. She is looking for a calm home to live her best life in. Red’s personality is very mellow, just like she likes her home. She does just fine with older kids (teenagers) and enjoys snuggling. She is a Velcro dog and would be a great work from home buddy. Red needs to be the only dog in her household. She would benefit greatly in a patient home that can help her socialize appropriately. Red is being fostered by her owner in Hastings. The Details: Needs Fence: Yes Kids: Yes (12+) Cats: No Dogs: No All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers. Story
Remember that handsome juvenile delinquent from high school that eventually grew up to be a solid citizen? Meet Billy. Billy spent the first year of his life in a kennel in a small town shelter with very little interaction with people and no doggy playmates. He has now been in an ARM foster home since August while he has learned about the world. He is currently peacefully living with 5 other dogs and 2 dog savvy cats. He loves to wrestle wildly with the other young dogs in the home and would absolutely chase those cats if they would just run. He loves to tear up dishtowels and dirty socks. Billy has the most awesome playbow of any dog we have seen. He can be mouthy when excited and needs to be reminded to be careful. He pulls hard on leash (would be a good candidate for a head halter and more training) but can be walked in a rural area off leash and has a reliable recall. Billy is crate trained and food and tug motivated for training. He is still scared of strangers and shows that with deep, loud barks that can be intimidating. He is increasing his circle of friends and once you win his trust you can do anything with him.
