About Nixie: Size? Small-ish Activity Level? I play hard and snuggle hard! Noise Level? Medium - I bark when other dogs bark or there's someone at the door. Good with Dogs? Yes! I would do best with a playmate in my new home. Good with Cats? Yes, but I do try to play with them sometimes. I back off when they tell me to though. Good with Kids? Yes, but dog-savvy kids preferred. Good with Strangers? Yep! Potty Trained? I'm working on it! Crate Trained? Yes, with some encouragement Shedding? Medium ✨ Meet Nixie — Your New Adventure Buddy! ✨ Nixie is an adorable, fluffy Pomeranian/Husky mix (our best guess!) with a beautiful brown-and-white coat and a whole lot of personality packed into her petite 15–20 lbs. Don’t let her size fool you—this girl is energetic, spirited, and always ready for fun! 🌟 Personality & Play Style Nixie is a sweet, playful pup who loves to chase and wrestle with other friendly dogs. She would thrive in a home with a dog who enjoys active playtime and silly games. She’s been wonderful with the cats in her foster home—mostly ignoring them, but occasionally trying to initiate play. When they decline, she politely backs off. Nixie has also been great with the children in her foster home. She was a bit fearful at first, but after a few days of settling in, she became their loyal little buddy. 🏡 What She Needs Nixie is happiest when she’s busy, both mentally and physically. She’ll need: • An active dog friend or humans who can commit to lots of exercise and enrichment • A securely fenced yard for zoomies and energy-burning outdoor fun • A consistent potty routine—she’s making real progress and does well on a schedule • A cozy kennel—she settles nicely in her crate 🛁 Bonus Features She’s a pro at bath time… but also thinks running through mud puddles is the BEST. Nixie is an affectionate, joyful pup who will reward her future family with endless laughs, love, and adventure. If you’re looking for a fun-loving companion who’s as cute as she is spirited, Nixie might be your perfect match! Nixie is spayed, microchipped, and current on vaccinations appropriate for her age. Story
Snapshot of Stanley: Size? Small, ~8 lbs right now! Activity Level? I play hard and snuggle harder! Noise Level? I bark to let you know when something is happening or when I want your attention. Good with Dogs? I love other dogs! Good with Cats? I don’t care about cats, they’re boring. Good with Kids? Yes! Good with Strangers? Yes! Potty Trained? Working on it! Crate Trained? I’m getting there! I cry a little in my crate but settle down well. Shedding? Minimal. About Stanley: Hi, my name is Stanley! I’m a tiny but mighty chihuahua mix (we think) that was transferred to TCPR from a shelter in Texas. I may be small, but don’t let that fool you – I have tons of puppy energy and a larger-than-life personality. I love to be carried and follow the humans around the house if they insist I keep all four paws on the ground. I spend my time rough-housing with my foster siblings, chasing squeaky toys, and snuggling in your arms or in the dog pile when all that playing tires me out. I love to be around other dogs! I have cats in my foster home, and I ignore them. Kids are great (they match my energy) and I love meeting new human friends. I’m working on my potty and crate training and I’m getting better every day! My new family will have to continue to work on these skills with me. I’ve been introduced to leash walking, which is super confusing by the way, but I know I’ll get the hang of it! I also love all kinds of toys and playing chase with both people and other dogs. My ideal home would be with a family who is ready to take on all things puppy! I have a very sweet personality, but my family will have to be committed to helping me learn my manners as I grow older. I would also love an older canine sibling to play with and show me the ropes. A fenced in yard would also be great! I promise to be your very own pint-sized sidekick if you’ll let me! I can’t wait to meet you! Stanley is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations for his age. Adoption Fee: $600 + applicable taxes Training Requirement: Obedience Level 1 Required MEET ME/ADOPT ME: If you’d like to arrange a meeting or begin the adoption process, please fill out an adoption application by visiting https://www.twincitiespetrescue.org/adopt/ or clicking “Apply for Adoption”. Story
Snapshot of Gordy: Size? Medium-Large (48 lbs) Activity Level? High -he is a border collie mix, after all! ;) Noise Level? Low Good with Dogs? Yes Good with Cats? Yes Good with Kids? Likely, but no children in foster home. Good with Strangers? Yes Potty Trained? Yes, with appropriate supervision and a schedule. Crate Trained? Yes Shedding? Medium About Gordy: Hi, my name is Gordy! I also respond to Gordo, Gordito, Sir Gordon, and Cheesy Gordita Crunch. I am an adorable border collie/lab mix who wants nothing more than a home to call my own--and, preferably, a ball to call my own as well. I LOVE to chase balls, and if no balls are around, I'll make do with chasing anything you throw for me--stuffies, sticks, ropes... the options are endless. My foster mom says that I'm amazingly well adjusted given my relatively rough history. I was 1 of 16 (!!) dogs rescued from a local home, and I haven't had the best care before now. For example, you might notice that I have a bit of a limp due to a wonky front foot. The vet says that this is likely caused by a ruptured tendon that didn't heal right. Fortunately, it doesn't slow me down at all! I also recently had 8 front teeth removed, including 3 of my canines, which were all fractured, likely from biting at the bars of a crate. Still, nothing can bring down my happy-go-lucky personality (except, of course, when my foster mom puts away my ball for the night). Something else you should know about me is that I tested positive for two tick-borne diseases, Anaplasmosis and Lyme. I received treatment and I don’t have any signs of chronic Lyme infection - which is AMAZING news! I will likely continue to test positive for both of these for the rest of my life due to chronic antibodies. It is possible that I could develop side effects from Lyme later in my life but for now I’m a happy and healthy boy! Here's a bit more from my foster mom: An ideal home for Gordy would be one that can give him lots of mental and physical stimulation. He really enjoys chewing on bones and bully sticks, playing tug with toys, and playing fetch. He's also a smart boy and has picked up on sit, lay down, and crate up very quickly. We're working on some new commands for him to show off! I think he'd do great with someone who enjoys having a dog that can be a companion to them on a variety of adventures! Gordy is fixed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations for his age. Snapshot of Jazzy: Size? Medium! Activity Level? High! I'm a cattle dog mix so I like to stay busy. Noise Level? Low, unless I am excited!  Good with Dogs? Yes - I would love a playmate!  Good with Cats? Yes, I ignore them. Good with Kids? Yes, but older kids only maybe. I currently live with small children and jump up on them when I'm excited.  Good with Strangers? Yes, after I have a little adjustment time. Potty Trained? Yes! Crate Trained? Yes! Shedding? I don't shed a ton! But that might change as I grow up. Meet Jazzy! Jazzy is a red-and-white speckled cutie whose name perfectly fits her lively personality—fun, upbeat, and full of spark! This young Beagle/Cattle Dog mix (or “Battle Dog,” as we like to say!) is ready to fill her forever home with adventure, joy, and endless tail wags. Though she started out a bit shy, Jazzy has blossomed into a confident, social pup who loves to play. She enjoys romping in the yard, chasing balls, and zooming around with her dog pals. Indoors, she’s a pro at shredding stuffies—her favorite pastime! Jazzy is crate-trained, potty-trained, loves routine ad is highly food-motivated, making training easy and fun. She gets along wonderfully with other dogs, ignores cats, and does well with kids—though older, dog-savvy children are best since she can get jumpy when excited. She’s been learning leash manners, and her eagerness to please shines through. Jazzy would thrive in an active home, whether as a solo dog with plenty of playtime or with another fun-loving canine companion. Ready to meet your new adventure buddy? Jazzy can’t wait to meet you!
