Story
Eunice came to rescue from Animal Control. She is a spayed female black tri Australian Shepherd, approximately a little over a year old. Eunice is a high energy dog whose foster has worked hard on her tendency to jump on people, so this behavior is much more controlled. She will sit and lie down on command as it is her opinion that these are fun tricks to do! She loves her stuffed toys but does have to monitored when she has them as to not shred them to pieces. (This is why we can't have nice things Eunice... you need to be nice to your toys if you want them to last Eunice...) She loves to be pet and talked to - her foster has been working on her house manners, observing her to be well-intentioned but a diamond in the rough. She needs a home that will enjoy training her and she loves to learn. She does have an off switch - she will enjoy herself on the deck and watch the birds. She loves her crate and has learned to "wait" to come out. She also was recently groomed and was a very good girl for the groomer. The details: Needs fence: Likely no, but needs established trust before being off lead Good with dogs: Yes, better with neutral dogs Good with cats: Not really; does like to chase those that run Good with kids: Seems to be All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers. We need an approved application on file to set up a meeting with a dog you might be interested in. You can find our application at www.aussierescuemn.com. All dogs have an adoption fee of $400 plus MN sales tax. We pride ourselves on matches that are awesome for both the dogs and your family. Story
Milo was adopted from ARM as a young puppy back in 2018 as part of a litter of Aussie mixes. He has been well loved by his family for almost 7 years now and they are very sad to say he is looking for a new home as he has become stressed around the young toddler in the home and should not be in a home with children under 5. Milo is a very loving and loyal dog to his humans, loves to be pet, and greets everyone with excitement. Milo is a healthy Aussie mix (They are German Shepherd, Cattle Dog, Catahoula Leopard Dog, and finally a little Aussie.) weighing about 75 lbs. He suffered dual broken legs back in 2019 when he ran in front of a vehicle. His injuries healed well with surgery, only showing a slight limp temporarily if he lays in an awkward position for a period of time. As he ages, Milo may need care and monitoring for any issues with the screws in his hip bones and may develop arthritis. At current, he does not have any restrictions for activities and has been healthy and happy ever since. Milo does well with a female dog in the home that he has been with since a puppy and enjoys playing with other dogs outside. He does have a tendency to show resource guarding with other dogs when around food, vying for attention from preferred humans, or in indoor spaces, so he may be best as the only dog or with a female dog. Milo is house trained and does well in a crate. He currently lives in a home that has invisible fencing and does well. He also generally does well off leash and has reliable recall with those he's familiar with. He walks well on a leash. Milo is currently being fostered by his owner in the southern suburbs of the Twin Cities. The details: Need fence: Currently lives with invisible fencing, can be off lead on acreage. Will need some kind of fence in a neighborhood, but likely not needed if on acreage Good with dogs: Does have resource guarding tendencies, may be best as an only dog or with a female dog Good with cats: No known exposure Good with children: Not good with children younger than 5 years old All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers. We need an approved application on file to set up a meeting with a dog you might be interested in. You can find our application at www.aussierescuemn.com. All dogs have an adoption fee of $400 plus MN sales tax. We pride ourselves on matches that are awesome for both the dogs and your family. Story
Odin is a 5 year olds, neutered male black bi Australian Shepherd. He is 37 pounds, housebroke, good with cats, and likes people but is bit nervous around strangers. He does pull on leash some, is well mannered in the house and can sit, down and shake. Odin is currently living in a foster with 6 other dogs with no issues. Odin was a transfer from a shelter in Iowa due to the fact that he has issues with body handling and needs some work in cooperative care to get him comfortable with grooming and vet visits. His foster is working on muzzle training and desensitizing him to brushing. Odin is very treat motivated and loves his training sessions on the grooming table. Scroll down on our facebook to see a live session on cooperative care using Odin as a demo. In that video I mention that Odin is headed to a new home. We took him there but the resident dog and Odin decided very quickly that they did not want to share a home and he came back to his foster the same day. The details: Needs fence: no, but unsure how he is off leash Good with dogs: yes, actively avoids conflict in house with 6 other dogs. Good with cats: yes Good with kids: likely not due to issues with bodily handling. Older kids would be fine. All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers. We need an approved application on file to set up a meeting with a dog you might be interested in. You can find our application at www.aussierescuemn.com. Story
King came to us from our friends at Minneapolis Animal Control (an awesome organization). He has had a rough past (left in a hot car and had to go to an emergency vet for heat exhaustion and had wounds from a collar on his neck). King is a young, estimated to be 2ish years old blue merle male with big fluffy tail. He arrived to rescue weighing 80 lbs, with a need to lose about 10 lbs. King has been living with a foster family that has spent a lot of time determining the kind of forever home he would need to be happy and successful. King is an absolute love bug with his family. He loves to cuddle and play and he is very good with the children who live in the home. He does have a preference for women and has displayed behaviors that would indicate that he can feel protective of them. He can be skeptical of new people, and would benefit from slow introductions. King has not been a fan of other dogs coming into his home, and is not very polite in meeting other dogs, so he would do best as being the only dog in the home. He seemed indifferent to cats in the intake home when he first arrived to ARM, but will chase animals that run, so cats might not find him quite as entertaining as he does. King adores the outdoors; loving walks and playing outside. His leash manners are still work in progress, but he’s eager to learn and please. King does have the herding instinct, and will try to herd children running around so it is not recommended that he’d be placed in a home with young kids. King is housebroken and is crate trained, but he is not a fan of the crate. However, he does have some separation anxiety (which can be common of dogs coming out of the shelter environment) and will get destructive, so for his safety, he does need to be crated when people are gone, or live in a home where someone is home all of the time. ARM and his foster family are currently looking to him assessed for anxiety so we can explore treatment options to support his needs and to keep him safe. King’s ideal home would be a quiet home that doesn’t have many visitors and he can be the only pet in the home. King loves his family with his whole being but does need to have a family that accepts that he’s not a dog that loves social gatherings, but instead would much rather cuddle with you on the couch, and binge watch your favorite series with you. King is being fostered in northern MN, north of Duluth. The details: Needs fence? Not required, but reliable recall will need to be established before going off lead. Good with dogs? No Good with cats? Will chase Good with kids? Children aged 10 or older All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers. We need an approved application on file to set up a meeting with a dog you might be interested in. You can find our application at www.aussierescuemn.com. Story
Arthur is a 1 1/2 year old, neutered male that is likely an aussie/border collie mix. He came in as an owner surrender with the 6 puppies from the Frosty litter, Cooper and Hook. All have nice temperaments and the 3 adults, who had been outside dogs are easily learning to live inside. Arthur is housetrained and is getting good on a leash, he sleeps quietly in his crate, and is absolutely in love with his foster family. This is a dog that will bond very tightly with his new family. For the right family that is willing to put in a little work, this will be the dog of a lifetime. The details: Needs fence: No, after he bonds and has some training.
