Story
Milo was adopted from ARM as a young puppy back in 2018 as part of a litter of Aussie mixes. He has been well loved by his family for almost 7 years now and they are very sad to say he is looking for a new home as he has become stressed around the young toddler in the home and should not be in a home with children under 5. Milo is a very loving and loyal dog to his humans, loves to be pet, and greets everyone with excitement. Milo is a healthy Aussie mix (They are German Shepherd, Cattle Dog, Catahoula Leopard Dog, and finally a little Aussie.) weighing about 75 lbs. He suffered dual broken legs back in 2019 when he ran in front of a vehicle. His injuries healed well with surgery, only showing a slight limp temporarily if he lays in an awkward position for a period of time. As he ages, Milo may need care and monitoring for any issues with the screws in his hip bones and may develop arthritis. At current, he does not have any restrictions for activities and has been healthy and happy ever since. Milo does well with a female dog in the home that he has been with since a puppy and enjoys playing with other dogs outside. He does have a tendency to show resource guarding with other dogs when around food, vying for attention from preferred humans, or in indoor spaces, so he may be best as the only dog or with a female dog. Milo is house trained and does well in a crate. He currently lives in a home that has invisible fencing and does well. He also generally does well off leash and has reliable recall with those he's familiar with. He walks well on a leash. Milo is currently being fostered by his owner in the southern suburbs of the Twin Cities. The details: Need fence: Currently lives with invisible fencing, can be off lead on acreage. Will need some kind of fence in a neighborhood, but likely not needed if on acreage Good with dogs: Does have resource guarding tendencies, may be best as an only dog or with a female dog Good with cats: No known exposure Good with children: Not good with children younger than 5 years old All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers. We need an approved application on file to set up a meeting with a dog you might be interested in. You can find our application at www.aussierescuemn.com. All dogs have an adoption fee of $400 plus MN sales tax. We pride ourselves on matches that are awesome for both the dogs and your family. Aussie Rescue of MN is here for support, advice, and as a safety net for our dogs for the rest of their lives.

Story
Meet Luna, a 12-year-old mini ted tri Aussie who is not ready for the old folk's home. Weighing about 35 lbs and is up to date on shots, Luna has a little arthritis but is otherwise spry and playful and would like to find a home where she can make the most of her golden years. Emulating Dorothy of the Golden Girls, Luna is pushy and opinionated, but also kind and ready for fun and adventures. She's game for playing ball, taking walks, and maybe even learning a new sport like K9 Nose Work or barn hunt. Otherwise she's happy to just chill and hang out. The little old lady that she is, Luna can be crabby with dogs that pester her so she'd do best either as a single dog or with a dog that can read her (clear and appropriate) communications and give her space. In addition, kids stress her out and she would not be suitable for a home with children younger than high school age. She's just not the grandmotherly type. Luna isn't crazy about crates, but she has excellent house manners -- no accidents, chewing, or getting into stuff. However, she's not above occasionally lolling around on the sofa. Girl likes her comforts! She also likes her groceries and needs someone who can help her watch her waistline as she needs to drop a few pounds for optimal health. Overall she's a fun little dog looking for the right person or people to share her senior years with. The details: Needs a fence: Probably not after she realizes you are her person. Good with cats: Unknown Good with dogs: Yes if they don't pester her or try to steal her stuff when she's using them (toys, chews, etc,) Good with kids: No young kids All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers. We need an approved application on file to set up a meeting with a dog you might be interested in. You can find our application at www.aussierescuemn.com. Story
ymphony is a stunning blue merle female with two blue eyes. Turning 2 in June, Symphony has been spayed, microchipped, and is up to date on shots. Symphony has a very shy, quiet personality. She came to rescue very undersocialized and really unsure of how to handle living in a home where she has freedom to move freely. Initially, she would hide in her crate and would startle at all noises, leading her to run back to her crate. Now she is showing more curiosity in exploring her environment and will now cuddle on the couch with her foster parents and foster diblings. Her first instinct is to run and hide, so she is considered a flight risk at this time. She does enjoy walks, but still does panic at strange noises. Symphony is learning that there's much to explore and her curious nature is slowly emerging. Symphony is crate trained and does love her crate. However, during the day, she is allowed to be out and about and she will hang out quietly while her foster dad works from home. Symphony is also doing well with the resident dogs; she's not really playing with them yet, but will lay quietly nearby or cuddle a bit with them on the couch. At this time, it is believed that she could do well as an only dog or with another dog who is not pushy. Symphony will need a home that is more quiet with less foot traffic and understands her need for slow introductions, extra time for adjusting to new environments, and a willingness to match her pace. She will not be a dog that will instantly bond with you and be ready for all of the adventures right away. But her heart is open and she's looking for her forever family to bond with. The details: Needs a fence: Yes Good with cats: Unknown Good with dogs: Yes if they're not pushy Good with kids: Seems fine, but probably would prefer older kids or teens who are more quiet & calm All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers. We need an approved application on file to set up a meeting with a dog you might be interested in. You can find our application at www.aussierescuemn.com. Story
Odin is a 5 year olds, neutered male black bi Australian Shepherd. He is 37 pounds, housebroke, good with cats, and likes people but is bit nervous around strangers. He does pull on leash some, is well mannered in the house and can sit, down and shake. Odin is currently living in a foster with 6 other dogs with no issues. Odin was a transfer from a shelter in Iowa due to the fact that he has issues with body handling and needs some work in cooperative care to get him comfortable with grooming and vet visits. His foster is working on muzzle training and desensitizing him to brushing. Odin is very treat motivated and loves his training sessions on the grooming table. Scroll down on our facebook to see a live session on cooperative care using Odin as a demo. In that video I mention that Odin is headed to a new home. We took him there but the resident dog and Odin decided very quickly that they did not want to share a home and he came back to his foster the same day. The details: Needs fence: no, but unsure how he is off leash Good with dogs: yes, actively avoids conflict in house with 6 other dogs. Good with cats: yes Good with kids: likely not due to issues with bodily handling. Older kids would be fine. All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers. We need an approved application on file to set up a meeting with a dog you might be interested in. You can find our application at www.aussierescuemn.com.
