Meet Wishbone! The PBS kids’ show likely got the name idea after seeing this handsome guy! He is a fabulous terrier mix. He is smart, can sometimes be a bit stubborn, puts his sniffer to great use, has lots of energy & plays hard. He particularly enjoys rolling in the grass. Once he is tired, he is a champion snuggler. He needs a little more work on his leash manners as he is strong & eager when he begins but settles and walks great after about 10 minutes. Wishbone gets along well with other dogs, but he’d thrive best with a calm companion. No small dogs or cats as he has a prey drive, not surprising given his heritage. Wishbone has so much love to give & has been waiting a long time for his own family. Could you make his wish come true? Goliath is a stunning sleek boy! He turns heads and melts your heart with his big pittie smile! He LOVES people! Maybe a little too much. Some days this big 50 pound love bug still thinks hes a 10 pound puppy and wants to sit in our lap! Goliath would do best in a home that has older children as he still doesn't realize how big he is as he is still full of his puppy energy. He would never hurt anyone! He just doesn't realize how big he is and can easily knock down littles. He knows basic command and is house trained and crate trained. He gets along with other dogs but tends to play on the more energetic side, so other large dogs are best for him. He has a big big heart and will be someone's best buddy on the road, hiking/fishing/camping/running buddy. Alfalfa has so many meanings. To horse people alfalfa is a rich and green leafy food :) To dog people, Alfalfa, means ME!!! I have not lead the most "leafy" life though. I was FINALLY saved from an extreme hoarding situation - I was waiting my whole life to leave that "life" behind!! And I am SO grateful to the ladies who have taken over a year to save 65 of the 87 dogs I lived with AND are still working to get more out! I am a shy when u first meet me, but don't let that de-suade you! I will warm up and you will be so so grateful that you gave me the time to open up to you and show you my steady and grateful side, I am more of a loner than a lot of hoarding dogs are, I actually would be fine with or without another dog or cat. I am slow to trust but once I trust you I am a quiet and loving companion :) Only on my terms. I have been through a lot and just need the most wonderful, patient, laid back and quiet family!! Allow me to introduce myself, I’m Gemma, or as my foster family likes to call me, Gemma Dean String Bean. As soon as I got out to the country in wide open spaces and met my fur foster siblings (dogs), my personality really started to bloom and shine. I am shy with fur siblings at first but once I warm up to them you can’t get me to stop playing. I have endless energy. I would be best in a forever home that has a fur sibling for me to play and snuggle with. While I warm up to other dogs right away, I take a little longer with humans but don’t worry, I do warm up pretty fast and then you won’t be able to get me to stop wanting to play and snuggle with you, too. In this hot Texas summer I love to play in the water but be sure to let me go potty before I go inside because I’m still learning that I should only potty outside. I haven’t figured out how to play fetch yet but I love a good chew toy and so far, I am very good at chewing!! )I am food motivated with obedience training. Finally, my foster family has some turkeys that I haven’t shown I care about but I do slightly lose my mind when I see Bambi (as in a REAL DEER!!) I would love to meet you and show you that I am the missing puzzle piece for your family. I can’t wait to hear from you! BUT HURRY!1 I am a GEMma and am ready!! Old Yeller, is that a new trend? Old stuff made NEW?? Cause I am NOT old, although I am Yeller, a really pretty YELLER COLOR!!! :) I am a Yeller Chesapeake bay retriever/ YELLER lab mix, it is important for my new family to know about the Chesapeake bay breed. We can be very stubborn, smart and independent and I really like to be in charge, so my new family needs to be strong leaders too. I am a handsome bloke, with swirls of yellow and white all through my coat. I am very smart and very sweet. I can from a high kill shelter with no hope- Now I EXUDE hope!! And LOVE!!! I WAS heartworm positive but have already finished the treatment and am NEGATIVE and just stay on prevention for the rest of my life. I am good with other dogs, but really would be best in an only dog home, cause I want all the attention :) I LOVE MY people and I tend to take "control" of my home so have to have a couple of things... 1) STRONG leadership owner, 2) I have to have an owner who will be wiling to not let me meet everyone who visits.. I want to protect my home a little too much... and 3) I have to stay in the San Antonio/TX area so my rescue friends can keep close tabs on me and how i am doing :) I have been running and playing since I am safe, but really am a couch potato.
