She is a very sweet active high energy dog that will play ball with you all day long if you let her , Im not sure if its because we have two other dogs or other reasons , but it seems like she got anxiety issues and barks at the wind or any noise . The reason we are trying to re home her is she doesn’t get along with one of our other dogs .

Story
Ellie Mae is a sweet 3 year old girl. She loves to play and snuggle. She is very affectionate with my older son. Ellie is a very submissive dog and shows it when she’s nervous by peeing. She has had this behavior since she was a puppy. She doesn’t do it as much as she used to but on occasion she tends to show how nervous or excited she is. I recently had a baby and I don’t have enough time for her. I want to find a home that will show her the love she deserves.

Story
Sweet Maisie is a 6-year-old, 36# Border Collie with a heart as gentle as her big brown eyes. She is the perfect mid-sized companion who enjoys cuddling, walks, and hanging with her people. Affectionate and friendly with everyone she meets, Maisie greets visitors politely and loves being part of the family. The most remarkable thing about Maisie is her incredible intuition. She looks deep into your eyes and connects with you on a level that only a special canine companion can. This beauty is always ready for a stroll or time patrolling the backyard. Once inside, she is well-behaved and easy to live with. When it’s time to relax, she is right at your feet or waiting to be invited beside you on the couch, happy to soak up affection. Trustworthy loose in the house, and will crate if needed. Entertains herself nicely and loves a good chew bone. Maisie is doing very well on leash. #1 on her wish list is a fenced yard where she can watch the world and sniff to her heart's content. She is learning that car rides lead to fun new places. Maisie is a smart girl who picks up new routines easily. She’s building confidence every day and would thrive with a family that enjoys peaceful walks, quiet companionship, and plenty of love. Older kids who are kind and gentle would suit her just fine. She is good with other dogs and meets them politely on walks. Maisie lives with another dog in her foster home, and would enjoy a companionable canine roommate. She could also be an only dog. With the most loving heart you could ask for, Maisie is ready to bring warmth and joy to her forever home. She is being fostered in Richfield, MN. APPLY TO ADOPT Maisie at hoabcr.org/how-to-adopt As a foster-based rescue, we do not have a central facility to visit. Meet and greets with specific dogs are arranged once your adoption application (not an inquiry through Petfinder) has been received, processed, and approved. We are located in Minnesota and adopt to an area 400 miles from Minneapolis/St. Paul. Maisie's adoption fee is $450 + MN sales tax. She is spayed, microchipped and up to date on age-appropriate vaccines. All of our dogs go to their new homes with a collar and harness, leash, starter food, blanket, favorite toys & treats. They are current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention.

Story
Hi there! My name is Pip, but you can call me Pippi Dogstocking or the Pipster, both nicknames that fit my bright, bouncy personality. I’m a 3-year-old. 36# Border Collie. My first 3 years were not ideal, but believe you me, with my new family, I will live the BEST life moving forward. I’m best described as resilient, happy, playful, affectionate, energetic, and alert. My soft, cute exterior hides a busy brain – I like to keep myself occupied. My theme song is “Jump” by Van Halen, because that’s how I show my excitement about… well, everything. My favorite things? Attention tops the list, followed closely by food, toys, and games like tug and fetch. I adore my people and want to be right in the middle of whatever is happening in my home. Because of that enthusiasm, I’m still learning about personal space and tend to jump or climb into laps uninvited. Training classes will be right up my alley, though. I’m eager to please, smart, and will absolutely shine with structure and guidance. My energy level is not for the faint of heart; I’m not off the charts but need something to do with my brain and body every day. I’d love an active, herding-breed–experienced home with a fenced yard or safe place to run so I can show off my speed. People who want to take me running, try agility or dog sports or simply believe in staying busy are perfect. A feline-free home is best; cats are a bit too interesting. A playful canine sibling would be da bomb! School aged kids who are gentle and kind are a good fit for me. I’m housebroken with supervision and crate-trained (though I may protest with FOMO). Leash leash walking is a work in progress – it’s brand new to me! I’m gaining confidence every day. I’m on the slim side right now, working to gain a few healthy pounds with good food and love. If you’re looking for a devoted, active, joyful companion who’s ready to learn and love with her whole heart, I might just be your girl. Pip is being fostered in Minneapolis, MN. APPLY TO ADOPT Pip at hoabcr.org/how-to-adopt Pip is being treated with a 30-day course of doxycycline for Lyme and Anaplasmosis. We do not expect any long-term effect from these conditions. Story
If “Here Comes the Sun” by the Beatles is your vibe, you definitely want to meet Meg, a 7 yr old, 37# Border Collie. She is the kind of dog who quietly brightens every room she enters. She’s sunshine wrapped in fur… a devoted snuggle bug, loyal shadow, and best friend all rolled into one. Meg’s favorite thing in the world is her person. She loves soft dog beds, gentle pets, and simply enjoying life together. She has calm energy and an easygoing personality perfect for a relaxed household. She would thrive in a family that enjoys daily walks around the neighborhood coupled with plenty of time together: playing or working in the yard, hanging together while her person works from home, or simply being part of everyday life. Meg is reliably housebroken and can be crated if needed, though she’s trustworthy loose in the house. She follows her people from room to room, content just to be near them. She doesn’t require a fenced yard but we know she would really enjoy having one. She is a bit timid on leash, getting better every day. Positive, upbeat encouragement means the world to her. Making people happy gives her a visible boost. She would prefer a suburban or rural home over a busy urban environment. Observing the activity from her foster home’s backyard is like TV for Meg – there’s a walking path behind the house. She takes it all in stride. Meg is suited to a home with kids roughly 10+ who have lived with dogs in the past. She would be happy as an only dog or could also enjoy a calm canine companion. Cats should be a-ok: she lived with them in her prior home. Meg is incredibly easy to live with. Gentle, loyal, and loving. If you’re searching for a steady, devoted companion who will bring warmth and peace to your life, Meg is ready to be your sunshine! Meg is being fostered in Shoreview, MN. APPLY TO ADOPT Meg at hoabcr.org/how-to-adopt As a foster-based rescue, we do not have a central facility to visit. Story
Meet JJ, an 8-year-old, 40# Border Collie with a heart as soft as his beautiful coat. To meet him is to love him! This tender, gentle and sensitive boy is as easily to live with as it gets. Sweet. Loving. He is looking for a family that wants to pet him, play with his toys, go on walks, and let him follow them around the house with quiet devotion. In return, he is an amazing confidante and companion that brightens every day. JJ’s favorite things are all about connection. He absolutely lights up when told he’s a good, brave boy. He is happiest when settled at your feet. JJ needs a fenced yard attached to his home for exploring and bathroom breaks - he isn’t pottying on lead just yet. He loves his crate, is housebroken, walks nicely on leash and is friendly to visitors. Out in the world, he watches other dogs and people with interest. He may startle at loud noises, but recovers quickly. JJ's foster family asks him to try “one hard thing” each day, understanding that some things (like car rides) are challenging for him... and could be too much that day. They are moving at JJ's pace to build trust, accepting that some days he is just not up to it. All these positive experiences are buildings JJ's confidence in his people and his world. The ideal family for JJ is calm and patient. Experience supporting timid dogs would be ideal. JJ is looking for a home with minimal stairs due to weakness in his rear end (walks and playtime are making him stronger all the time!). He doesn’t need a canine sibling, though a quiet, low-key doggie friend would be fine. An adult home or one with older, gentle kids is a good fit for JJ. We are not sure what he would think of cats. We are looking for a foster or foster-to-adopt home for JJ starting January 24. APPLY to FOSTER at: hoabcr.org/volunteer-foster APPLY to ADOPT at hoabcr.org/how-to-adopt JJ has arthritis and benefits from daily medications and supplements (gabapentin, carprofen and an Omega-3) to help him feel better. The rescue will supply 3 months of medication (approximately $50/mo) to his adopters. He may wean himself off these meds as he gets stronger and more active. JJ is being fostered in Richfield, MN. As a foster-based rescue, we do not have a central facility to visit. Meet and greets with specific dogs are arranged once your adoption application (not an inquiry through Petfinder) has been received, processed, and approved. We are located in Minnesota and adopt to an area 400 miles from Minneapolis/St. Paul. We supply our foster and foster-to-adopt homes with all required food, supplies and medication. We hope his fosters will find themselves unable to let him go! In that case, JJ's adoption fee is $250 + MN sales tax. He is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on age-appropriate vaccines. Upon adoption, all of our dogs go to their new homes with a collar and harness, leash, starter food, blanket, favorite toys & treats. They are current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention.
