Story
We have had Marley since she was 9 months old, she will be 9 in September. We are about to have our third baby and our family is just not home enough for Marley. She doesn't get to go outside as much as she should. She loves to run around and play fetch. She is good with our two girls who are 3 and 5. Once we had our now 3 year old, she got some anxiety and hasn't been in a kennel since. She does good with roaming the house free, as long as you have no food out. She is not good with other dogs as she is very protective of her house and family. We would love Marley to go to a family that has much more time on their hands and able to let her run outside.

Story
He’s a sweet boy. Very smart, loves to play fetch, loves to lounge. His herding instinct has made it problematic with friends and neighbors . He’s nipped the neighbors on a few incidents. Nothing major and it is not aggressive. But we are concerned if it happens again he would have bigger consequences with the city. Alfie would do great with a large yard and older kids

Story
Sleet is a curious, brave and playful Lab, Husky and Beagle mix born in rescue on March 14. He loves stuffed toys, being outside and meeting new people wherever he goes. Being out in the sun is his happy place! He's down for any adventure, anytime. Cuddly, loving and very sweet, Sleet is enjoying life on the go with his foster family. He's visited multiple farms and met horses, seen people riding, encountered bikes, cars and other traffic. Restaurant patios and playtime at the beach (including digging in the sand!) were big hits too. He looks up to his foster canine sibling, learning how to walk on leash and when its playtime versus time to chill. He crates nicely through the night and for short period during the day. Potty training is going great - he needs breaks roughly every 3-4 hours during the day. He's a smart guy who loves doing anything his people want to do. He heard about this thing called obedience classes where he gets time with his family and lots of treats. He cant wait! Sleet weighs about 18# and will be the perfect size for accompanying his people everywhere. He has medium energy and is suited to a family that likes daily exercise and time chilling together. He would love a canine sibling to pal around with, can live with dog-savvy cats and older kids that understand how to redirect puppy teeth. A fenced yard is his dream, or a safe space to run and play. Ongoing socialization will ensure he can lead the life he was meant to. Sleet's ideal family wants to help him learn to be a good canine citizen, has a puppy-friendly schedule, and most importantly, sees the joy in life just like he does. Sleet is READY to meet his forever family and start his life with them. He is a once-in-a-lifetime companion! APPLY to adopt him at hoabcr.org/how-to-adopt Sleet is being fostered in Coon Rapids, MN. Sleet's adoption fee is $550 + MN sales tax (this includes his neuter). He is up to date on age-appropriate vaccines. He will be neutered and microchipped at the age of roughly 6 months. The cost of this procedure is included in his adoption fee. Upon adoption, all of our dogs go to their new homes with a collar and harness, leash, starter food, blanket, favorite toys & treats. They are current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. As a foster-based rescue, we do not have a central facility to visit. Meet and greets with specific dogs are arranged once your adoption application (not an inquiry through Petfinder) has been received, processed, and approved. We are located in Minnesota and adopt to an area 400 miles from Minneapolis/St. Paul.

Story
Meet Cupcake, affectionately known as Cece. Simply stated, she is a delight! This 36#, 12.5-year-old Sheltie and Border Collie mix who proves that age is just a number. She has plenty of pep in her step, a lovely prance when she is happiest, and a zest for life that charms everyone she meets. Describing Cupcake is easy. She's friendly, affectionate, confident, curious, observant and just a bit spicy. She wants to be close to her people, joining in on whatever they are doing. Whether its accompanying them on a leisurely stroll, supervising backyard activities, or simply lounging nearby for ear and butt scratches, Cece enjoys being part of the family. Her ideal day includes a couple of walks where she can stop and investigate interesting smells along the way. Her ears perk up, her tail rises proudly, and off she goes, ready to explore the world one sniff at a time. A few tosses of a Frisbee or ball, rolling in the grass, watching birds from the deck, and savoring peanut butter frozen treats are also high on her list of favorites. Cupcake would thrive in a home that appreciates a medium-energy companion. She doesn't need a fenced yard if she can spend time exploring safely on a leash. She's fine with another calm, low-key dog or as the canine center of attention. She does well with cats and even naps alongside her feline friends. Because quick movements can startle her, Cupcake would do best in a home without young children. She prefers to dine alone without concern for another dog trying to get at her food dish. She is completing a 30-day course of doxycycline for Lyme disease as a precaution: she is not symptomatic. She is a healthy, happy girl with lots of love to give. If you're looking for a loyal companion for walks, adventures, and cozy evenings, Cece may be the perfect match. APPLY to adopt her at hoabcr.org/how-to-adopt Cupcake is being fostered in Lindstrom, MN. Cupcake's adoption fee is $250 + MN sales tax. She is spayed and up to date on age-appropriate vaccines. Upon adoption, all of our dogs go to their new homes with a collar and harness, leash, starter food, blanket, favorite toys & treats. They are current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention.

Story
Hi there! My name is Elsa, and if sweet, cuddly, and gentle are your favorite qualities in a dog, we might be a perfect match. I'm a smart little lab, husky and beagle mix born in mid-March 2026. I have a medium energy level and a wonderful balance of curiosity, get up and go, and a love of chilling out. Hiking buddy? Sure! Road trip pal? You bet! Cozy evenings at home? Im in! As long as I get enough exercise and mental stimulation, I'm happy to fit into your lifestyle. My favorite things are stuffy toys, frozen treats, and following another dog around to see what theyre up to. While I'd enjoy having a canine sibling, I don't need one. I'm just as happy bonding closely with my humans, as long as I get to have some doggy friends and playdates. I've already had a lot of new experiences. I've visited parks full of children, attended an outdoor reception at a winery (fancy!), attended volleyball games, explored stores, and met lots of new people. Wherever I go, I take it all in stride. I'm comfortable being handled by different people and love being part of the action. My confidence is growing just like I am. Like any puppy, I'm still learning. My potty training is coming along nicely, and I can already hold it overnight in my crate for up to eight hours. I'm crate-trained, too... I may whine a little to start. On walks, I am a natural on leash - sure, I occasionally stop to sniff or nibble on my leash, but with a little training, I'll be an excellent walking companion. I cant wait to take my family to obedience classes and learn more! What I'm really looking for is a family that will cherish my gentle heart, continue my training, and help me grow into the amazing dog I'm meant to be. If you're looking for a loving, adaptable best friend, I can't wait to meet you. APPLY to adopt her at hoabcr.org/how-to-adopt Elsa is being fostered in Rochester, MN. Elsa's adoption fee is $550 + MN sales tax (this includes her spay). She is up to date on age-appropriate vaccines. She will be spayed and microchipped at the age of roughly 6 months. The cost of this procedure is included in her adoption fee. Upon adoption, all of our dogs go to their new homes with a collar and harness, leash, starter food, blanket, favorite toys & treats. They are current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention.

Story
Snowy is a busy, extroverted guy with a contagious cheerful outlook. He is a Lab, Husky and Beagle mix born in rescue on March 14. He loves meeting new friends, whether they have 2 or 4 legs. Loves the water and would be in heaven to join his family on any beach or boating adventure. Trust us when we say he brightens each day and brings lots of laughter wherever he goes. Ready for a fun life, Snowy has a great head start! He's met cats, kids, and lives with several other dogs. He's great in the car, crates nicely, and is mastering potty training with frequent breaks. He is ready to find a family that enjoys doing all the things and wants to incorporate him right in the middle of it. Snowy currently weighs about 18# and will be the perfect size for anything: road trips to see Grandma, hiking or camping with friends, backyard BBQs with the neighbors. His fosters are working with him on basic obedience commands and promise he will be the star pupil in his class. He's working on walking nicely on leash, seeing new sights and sounds, and experiencing the world. Ongoing socialization will ensure he can lead the life he was meant to. The best fit for Snowy is an active family who sees a dog as a 4-legged extension of the family. His ideal home has another fun-loving pup for him to pal around with, and they have a safely fenced space for playtime. Children old enough to understand how to redirect his puppy teeth are a good fit. Snowy cant wait to meet his forever family and dive right into his new, exciting life! APPLY to adopt him at hoabcr.org/how-to-adopt Snowy is being fostered in Sioux Falls, SD. Snowy's adoption fee is $550 + MN sales tax (this includes his neuter). He is up to date on age-appropriate vaccines. He will be neutered and microchipped at the age of roughly 6 months. The cost of this procedure is included in his adoption fee.
