Meet Poncho!! Intelligent, energetic and sweet, Poncho is a 2.5 yr old Border Collie mix. He has a young, happy heart and lights up like a kid on Christmas morning while playing with his ball or rope tug toy. He is loyal to his core, loving his family with everything he has. In fact, his theme song is “I’ll Stand By You” by the Pretenders. Poncho was a little too well loved in his prior home and is making progress toward achieving a healthy weight. His goal is around 50# from a current 56#. Luckily, he is excited to take his people for walks and show them around town. He pulls on leash for the first few minutes, then settles in nicely. It’s the perfect time of year to enjoy strolls before or after work (or both) with this handsome lad. Like many highly intelligent dogs, Poncho wants to use his big brain in addition to getting daily exercise. He enjoys puzzle toys and working on basic obedience skills. He can’t wait to take classes and be the star pupil! His foster family is helping him learn how to relax by using a mat for downtime where he enjoys chewing on bones or working on a Kong. Poncho is a great fit for families that appreciate and understand smart, engaged herding dogs. He can live with dog-savvy kids roughly 10+, and hopes they enjoy playing fetch! He dreams of a fenced yard and is also well suited to families who keep their dogs safe on leash. He is house and kennel trained. Poncho loves life as an only dog and does well meeting new canine friends for walks and excursions. He tries to gently herd the kitty in his foster home, but we feel he would be more comfortable in a cat-free home. Story

Hi, I’m Apollo! I’m a 10 month old, 37# Border Collie mix, and I’m looking for my forever family. People say I’m adventurous, curious, smart, and friendly, and that sums me up pretty well. My favorite pastimes are collecting toys, carrying them around the house or settling down with a bully stick when I'm ready to relax. I’ve got plenty of energy, especially outside - I love to run, explore, and play, and I’m really fast! Inside, I settle down... but if you want a play break, just let me know! I’d be happiest with an active and patient family who enjoys keeping me busy and teaching me new things. A fenced yard would be heavenly, or a family dedicated to giving me safe outdoor time would work too. Kids under 10 that have had dogs before would be fun for me. While I’d enjoy having a canine sibling, I can also entertain myself. I’ve started showing some herding instincts with other dogs, so a family familiar with herding breeds is probably best. I haven’t met cats yet, but with proper introductions and training, I bet we would be friends. I’m proud to say I’m doing great with housetraining and have learned to whine at the door when it’s time to go out! I relax in my crate at night and when my foster mom has to focus for work. Sometimes I complain just a little, but it doesn’t last long. I enjoy being on a long line and am working on regular leash walking skills. My foster mom is helping me learn basic commands like sit, stay, and come (that’s my favorite one – I get to run AND get cookies at the end!). My master plan is to take my family to obedience classes so we get dedicated time together and I get to see new things, people, and other dogs. Plus, I will use my smarts to show off and get more cookies! I promise, if you give me a chance, I’ll be your best friend. You'll always be smiling when I'm around. Hi there! My name is Pip, but you can call me Pippi Dogstocking or the Pipster, both nicknames that fit my bright, bouncy personality. I’m a 3-year-old. 34# Border Collie. My first 3 years were not ideal, but believe you me, with my new family, I will live the BEST life moving forward. I’m best described as resilient, happy, playful, affectionate, energetic, and alert. My soft, cute exterior hides a busy brain – I like to keep myself occupied. My theme song is “Jump” by Van Halen, because that’s how I show my excitement about… well, everything. My favorite things? Attention tops the list, followed closely by food, toys, and games like tug and fetch. I adore my people and want to be right in the middle of whatever is happening in my home. Because of that enthusiasm, I’m still learning about personal space and tend to jump or climb into laps uninvited. Training classes will be right up my alley, though. I’m eager to please, smart, and will absolutely shine with structure and guidance. My energy level is not for the faint of heart; I’m not off the charts but need something to do with my brain and body every day. I’d love an active, herding-breed–experienced home with a fenced yard or safe place to run so I can show off my speed. People who want to take me running, try agility or dog sports or simply believe in staying busy are perfect. A feline-free home is best; cats are a bit too interesting. A playful canine sibling would be da bomb! Older kids would be ok. Because I’m still learning not to nip and jump, littles are not a good fit. I’m housebroken with supervision and crate-trained (though I may protest with FOMO). Leash leash walking is a work in progress – it’s brand new to me! I’m gaining confidence every day. I’m on the slim side right now, working to gain a few healthy pounds with good food and love. Is it cool when what you get isn’t *quite* what you thought it would be ... but you love it even more? Do you love Black Labs with a hint of something special? Then look no further…. Temu is your gal! Temu is a quirky girl who lives up to her namesake every day. Her coat is a beautiful glossy black, and her fur is endlessly soft and petable. Like any good lab, Temu loves the water. She is most likely Lab mixed with Australian Shepherd and has qualities of both breeds. Temu is very loyal and stays close to home. She is being fostered in a rural, unfenced area which Temu thinks is great for runs in the woods and daily swims. While her family works outside, Temu stays close by and entertains herself. Recently, she has been learning to pick her own apples. Temu is about 2 years old, 38# and comes from a sheltered early life. Learning how to properly ‘dog’ is new to her. She recently completed obedience classes and is very smart- she is good with cues and verbal commands. She has a lovely recall and will happily ‘kennel up!’ One of Temu’s superpowers is her ability to get along with other dogs. She has excellent dog manners. She’s also good with cats. She is being fostered by a busy family and is a good fit for teenage kids. If you think you’d be a good Emotional Support Human for Temu, she is interviewing for the position. Key skills she is looking for are confidence, an outgoing personality and being a good leader for her - someone she can trust. She's ready for a person or people to call her very own. Meet Banks, a gentle, 7-year-old 53# Border Collie who is sweet, sensitive, and quietly devoted to his family. This handsome boy is shy when meeting you for the first time, asking for a bit of time to settle in. Once comfortable, he blossoms into a friendly, playful companion who just wants to be near his person. It’s easy to tell when he’s happy: his tail wags around and around like an airplane propeller. Banks is a homebody at heart. Indoors, he’s perfectly content snoozing on the couch and following his human from room to room. He loves to interact with his people and displays natural herding instincts, which can include nipping. He’s learning that is not part of polite play. Banks would do best in a home with herding breed experience comprised of adults and even older kids. He has an easy-going approach to life and doesn’t demand a ton of exercise, though he wants to stay healthy with regular walks. Banks would prefer a quieter home setting like a nice suburb or even the country versus living right in the heart of the city. He's bravely learning to navigate unexpected noises of the world with the help of his foster family. It’s a pleasure to watch him become more confident each day. Banks gets along well with other dogs but does not need another pup in his forever home. He’s reliably housebroken, crates nicely (though it’s not his favorite), and is trustworthy loose in the house. He would be in heaven to find a family that has a fenced yard and is also suited to a home that keeps dogs safe on leash. Cats that believe in peaceful coexistence with dogs could be a good fit. Banks is a simple guy who just wants a family of his very own for Christmas. It would be hard to find a more loyal best friend than this very special boy.
