Story
Hi, my name is Coco! History: Owner Surrender From the Foster: Hi! I'm Coco and I'd love tell you a little bit about me. Some of my favorite things are walks, laying in the sun and car rides, so if you are looking for a partner for weekend trips to the cabin or even just someone to keep you company in the backyard, I'm your girl! But a good cuddle on the couch is lovely too! And I'd be happy to keep your feet warm if I could sleep on your bed. I'm past that high maintenance puppy phase too, so you won't have to worry about teeth marks on your shoes or furniture or cleaning up accidents. I will go in my crate, although I sometimes let my foster mom know I'm a bit sad to be kept away from everyone & everything! And I will keep an eye on things and maybe give you a bit of a warning if strangers (human or dog) are approaching. But I am looking for a special someone that can be a bit patient with me, as I had some bad experiences in my past life. Meeting new people can be a bit frightening...so meeting folks slowly & calmly is best. Maybe even include a few tasty treats? I did do OK with the grandkids where I stayed for a while, but they need to be respectful kids who will give me my space. And I can be a bit reactive if I encounter another dog while on my leash, but my foster mom is working with a trainer on that and I'm doing much better...she says to tell you that the trainer would still help you help me. And I'm quite good on a leash, sniffing everything and not pulling at all as long as we don't run into another strange dog. When I'm not on a leash, I like other dogs a lot, big dogs and little dogs, and it would be really nice to have a calm doggie sibling to help teach me to be my best doggie self, but it isn't a requirement. I prefer the dogs that won't jump on me though - that's a little scary sometimes. My foster mom says you should know I take some meds to help me stay calm and I need my insulin every 12 hours, but she says to tell you I don't fuss at all about the pill and giving the shots is SUPER easy and really, I don't mind it a bit. It's just a little poke, nothing to make any sort of fuss about! So please come meet me and give me some pets...maybe even some scritches on my adorable little chest freckles? I'm sure I'd just love that! Through the course of my veterinary care at Secondhand Hounds it was found that I have diabetes mellitus, hypothyroidism, and mature cataracts. Luckily, my foster and the doctors at Secondhand Hounds and BluePearl took great care of me, and I am now ready to find my forever home! I had surgery for my cataracts, and I can see much better now. Future adopters should know that due to my multiple endocrine diseases, I will need to continue to work with a primary veterinarian, as well as an internal medicine specialist (I am currently under the care of Dr. Mazepa at BluePearl.) To manage my diabetes, my adopter will need to administer insulin everyday, as well as monitor my glucose levels with the guidance of a veterinarian. I am also on medication for my hypothyroidism. It is recommended that discuss with my future vet clinic about recommended follows ups and labwork (CBC, chemistry, UA, Fructosamine and T4)

Story
A portion of Daisy's adoption fee has been sponsored by her friends at The Murray Fund. Hi I'm Daisy! From the Foster: Daisy is one of the most incredible dogs I have ever known. Anyone would be lucky to have her in their life, and in the right environment, Daisy shines more than any dog I have ever known. The key for Daisy is to set her up for success, and the right environment is going to be the first step. Daisy is a typical husky when it comes to her hilarious personality, intelligence and vocal nature. She also loves to sing the songs of her ancestors and bring out her stubborn side, especially when asked to come inside in the middle of a snowstorm. Daisy has some anxiety and reactivity to noises, commotion, and other dogs. Living in a quieter environment will be key to helping her have a more relaxed approach to daily life and not have all the noises of things like city life right outside her door, making her on high alert. This means no shared walls for sure, and a space that is a bit more private. A private fenced-in yard? A more rural home without close neighbors? Some land she can sniff and explore? Yes!! This would be Daisy's dream :). Daisy is also dog selective. This means she needs to decide which dogs she wants to be friends with, allowing the proper time and space to do so. She won't be a dog park kind of dog, or a social butterfly at dog-friendly breweries, etc. She prefers male dogs, has bonded very well with previous male puppies we've fostered, and is the best of friends with my male husky mix. She is not cat friendly, so a home without cats is ideal. I would love to see Daisy with an adopter who understands her needs when it comes to her reactivity and anxiety; someone who is open to continuing to help her with training, but who also understands that this is part of who Daisy is. She's a wonderful girl and has come so far while with me, and I'm sure will continue to improve in lessening her anxiety and reactivity. Daisy would love an active family who wants to do all the things with their doggy BFF like hiking trails, checking out camping sites, and going for runs in the snow. She would love to try skijoring, bikejoring, canicross, agility, etc. It takes a little extra planning to do all these things in a place where she can be more comfortable and not surrounded by a lot of other people and dogs, but that little extra planning is so worth it!! Daisy's favorite moments are when she's outside in a private environment where she can feel safe and at peace. She is a frequent visitor of SniffSpots and other spaces she can enjoy by herself or with her foster brother. To sum it up, Daisy needs someone who is open to meeting her where she is at, and someone who sees and truly believes that Daisy is worth it because she really is. Daisy will change your life for the better if you let her. The adoption fee sponsorship credit of $200.00 will be applied during the contract process

A portion of Nini's adoption fee has been sponsored by her friends at The Murray Fund. The adoption fee sponsorship credit of $325.00 will be applied during the contract process Hi, my name is Nini! History: Owner Surrender From the Foster: Hi, I'm Nini but my foster family calls me Nellie. Please read my whole bio before applying for me. I know I'm cute but I've got some specific needs for my forever home. I'm a young old English Bulldog and I'm special needs. I've been with my foster family for several months. I have several special needs my foster Mom will list them below. I'm here to talk about the fun stuff! I'm squishy, I'm cute, I love basically everyone and everything! I didn't learn bite inhibition as a young pup so I can be rough when I'm mouthy and playing but I redirect to a toy easily and play gentle for the most part. I love to be outside in all seasons! Nothing is better than being outside rolling on the ground! My doggy foster siblings are my rock they keep me stimulated with my limitations and I would really benefit from a tolerant playful pup friend. I am crate trained to a playpen and need to sleep in my special bed naked (see below). I'm quiet and sleep all night peacefully but it's best not to have me in your bedroom as it's occasionally a stinky affair. I love to snuggle with my people and getting scratchies is the best! I don't have typical basic training but I have my own version of most basic training. I have lots of needs for my forever home so please read what my Mom writes about my needs! From my foster mom: Nellie has several chronic medical conditions including: suspected spina bifida resulting in little use of her rear limbs total incontinence of bladder and bowels frequent UTIs potential elongation of soft pallet resulting in regurgitation of water and a fragile/chronic wound of her anus. Let me explain what that means for a home. Nellie needs someone home more often than not she needs very frequent diaper changes (currently every 4-6hr but can go up to 8 occasionally) she needs to sleep naked to let her skin breath which means the potential for lots of dirty laundry and cleaning she is currently staying clean overnight but it can change if she gets an upset belly. She needs someone who can handle expressing her urine and feces (I will teach you how to do this) and isn't squeamish around bodily fluids or wounds I promise it isn't as scary as it sounds. Her people need to be able to lift/carry Nellie (40lb). She needs a home with minimal/no stairs and preferably another playful and tolerant pup to keep her stimulated (not required just preferred we will chat about other stimulation methods if no other dogs and she wouldn't mind being the center of attention!) No really small children - Nellie can be mouthy when she plays and she is prone to spinal injuries which could result in loss of what mobility she has is her rear legs. Nellie also needs a family who is very financially secure as she will be a more expensive dog. From gathering supplies needed to bring her home to frequent vet visits she will cost more than your average dog. I will send a list of our favorite products for Nellie but you can get creative on your own too. This will not be a very quick adoption there is a lot to learn and several visits can be made to get to know Nellie and comfortable with all her needs. Nellie is extra work but she is SO worth it she is a sweet little wrinkle butt and she gives her whole heart to her people and she radiates the love and gratefulness to her caretakers and a bond unlike any other forms that makes the extra care seem like nothing. If you've made it this far and think you have a home for Nellie fill out an app to discuss her with us! Through the course of my veterinary care at Secondhand Hounds it was found that I most likely have spina bifida which causes secondary fecal and urine incontinence and I do wear diapers for this. I was also diagnosed with masticatory muscle myositis (MMM) which is an immune system disorder that causes difficulty opening and closing the jaw muscles involved with chewing. I was treated with steroids for this and I have responded very well to them!

Hi, my name is Willow! History: Pulled from an animal control From the Foster: Willow is a sweet and affectionate dog with a bubbly personality that is hard not to love. Her playful nature is infectious, and she is always ready for a good time. Willow is a social butterfly who thrives on the company of others, whether it's humans, cats, or other dogs. She's a real people-pleaser and gets along great with everyone she meets, making her the perfect addition to any family. One of Willow's favorite things is to be the center of attention. She loves to be showered with affection and will go to great lengths to get it. Whether it's with her wagging tail or cute little barks, Willow has a way of expressing her desire for attention that will melt your heart. Her playful spirit is also evident in her love of games, especially tug-of-war, which she would play for hours on end if she could. Communication is key with Willow, and she is not shy about using her voice to let you know what she wants. She barks in a cute and playful way that is hard to resist, whether it's to let you know she's hungry, needs to go outside, or simply wants some quality time with her favorite humans. With her adorable mannerisms and lovable personality, it's impossible not to fall head over heels for Willow. Overall, Willow would make an excellent family pet, providing endless love, entertainment, and companionship. She's a loyal friend who would cherish being part of a family and would be sure to show them just how great of a best friend she can be.

A portion of Aldridge's adoption fee has been sponsored by his friends at The Murray Fund. The adoption fee sponsorship credit of $250.00 will be applied during the contract process Hi, my name is Aldridge. I also go by Bubba, Aldi, and Alds! I am a big, goofy, energetic, funny guy and I would love to find a forever home, so let me tell you a little more about myself. I have been in my current foster home for a little over 8 months now! I love to go on walks, the longer the better, and a few a day would be nice too...I have a lot of energy. I can get pretty excited and with that comes a whole jumble of noises, I get so excited I just cannot hide it! Some dogs can be scared of my excitement, and I can be a little overbearing sometimes (I don't know what personal space is) so slow intros work best for me! I can also be a little picky, so not all dogs are for me but hey that's okay! I have some quirks as my foster mom would say, for example, I can be reactive towards skateboards, delivery trucks, and a few other things, but my foster mom and I are working on it and I have improved since I first got here! I am also not a fan of little kids...they just are not for me! I prefer big kiddos and adults as I can be as some would call a bull in a china shop! I love my stuffed squeaker toys, balls, and ropes. On walks my foster mom calls me the hunter because when I catch a squirrel or bunny scent, it's go time, laser focused and on the prowl! I sometimes even try to climb trees, it makes my foster mom laugh! If there is someone or something outside the window don't worry I will make you aware! I love to use my doggy voice! I know that I can be a lot, but I have come so far and I am really hoping there is someone out there for me! Thanks for reading a little bit about me! -Love Aldridge Check out my video: https://youtube.com/shorts/Tesf09LvU6A?feature=share History: From a shelter in Alabama

Story
A portion of my adoption fee has been sponsored by my friends at The Murray Fund. The adoption fee sponsorship credit of $100.00 will be applied during the contract process. Hi! I'm Buddy and I am an owner surrender. I am deaf, but that doesn't stop me from being an amazing boy! From the Foster: Photos and Videos of Buddy: https://photos.app.goo.gl/uvmNj7g9YXB925CU9 Buddy's dream day would start and end with head scritches and belly rubs, followed by a walk to sniff around a quiet neighborhood, fueled by lots of treats. He'd then take a long car ride on the highway, return home to more head scritches and belly rubs, and enjoy chewing on a bone in his bed before a nap. He's used to having a human companion around for most of the day. He does all right for up to 4-5 hours alone, though if there is food accessible to him, he will find it and eat it. He's a loyal guy who will love his people well and do his best to protect you from squirrels, postal carriers, dogs on the TV, and package delivery trucks. He's friendly towards people, and very food motivated. He's a senior dog who knows what he wants and will communicate it. He's had to navigate some health challenges and can be a bit stubborn or crabby about being unable to do what he wants. Buddy would do best as the only pet in a quiet home, with someone who wants a loyal companion for daily walks, and time together. We have yet to make formal introductions to any other dogs or cats, when we encounter them in the neighborhood, he has a big bark and is learning how to be less reactive. Buddy would do best in a house with no shared walls.
