Story
Blue is a sweet senior Lab who deserves a calm and patient home. He has some challenges: he experiences anxiety, especially when there are loud noises like a crying baby, he’s incontinent when he gets nervous, and he can be an escape artist. For these reasons, he needs a quiet, adult-only household, preferably with someone experienced with dogs who understands anxiety and senior care. Despite his special needs, he is incredibly loyal and loves affection. He’s happiest when he’scalm and feels safe, and he’ll be a loving companion to the right person who can give him the attention and care he deserves.

Story
MUGSY 5 years Attributes Dog Friendly Good on car rides Medium energy Playful Snuggly House trained Will potty on leash Hi there, I'm Mugsy! For most of my life, I didn't know what it felt like to be free. I spent my days on a chain, dreaming about running, playing, and just being part of a family. But those days are behind me now — and wow, life is so good! I'm a lean, athletic guy with muscles to match my big heart. These days, I'm loving every bit of my new indoor life — soft beds, yummy food, toys galore, and a warm place to rest my head. I can't get enough of my squeaky toys, chew bones, and chasing after balls. Back scratches? Yes, please. Belly rubs? Don't stop! I also love being outside — rolling in the grass, soaking up the sunshine, and going for walks. I enjoy hanging out with my foster mom (she says I'm quite the sweetheart), but I also get along well with most other dogs. I'm still learning to share all these wonderful new things I never had before, so sometimes I can be a little protective of my toys or people. I'm working on it, I promise. What I really want is a home where I can get lots of love, attention, and exercise — somewhere I can finally feel safe, play to my heart's content, and just belong. I also would be a wonderful running or hiking buddy. If you're looking for a loyal, fun, active and loving companion who's ready to start his best chapter yet... I think we might be a perfect match! NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

Story
THOMAS 4 years Attributes Dog friendly Requires a fence Housetrained Playful Snuggly Needs another dog Not best for apartments My name is Thomas and I'm around 4 years old. I'm a fun-loving guy and really enjoy the company of other dogs. Like the typical beagles that we are, my foster brothers and I spend hours running and sniffing in the yard to find that elusive rabbit! I do like to run and try to find the critters, so would be best suited to a fenced yard. I've been excellent in the house – I haven’t chewed on anything but the stuffed dog toys, and I haven’t had any accidents in the house, either. Being a beagle, I do have a voice, but mostly when I first go outside – I’m just so excited to be able to run around the yard that I want to let everyone know! I do have to add that my foster dad has nicknamed me Timid Tommy. Loud or sharp noises and sudden movements do startle me, and foster dad has been working with me on that. I’m slowly but surely getting accustomed to unexpected sounds, and foster dad thinks that a calm, quiet home would be ideal for me. When I'm outside, I love to run and play with my foster brothers. When it’s time to go inside, though, I like to be around my people and get lots of attention! I'm a big-time snuggler, and lying next to my people is probably my greatest joy in life! I do occasionally play with stuffed toys or chew on hard bones, but I really just want attention as often as I can get it! Something else we are working on is car rides. Being overly nervous and excited has sometimes led to me getting a little sick when I’m first in the car, but then I settle down nicely and sleep. We've discovered that when I sit next to my person and feel more at ease, things go much better for me. I also have a fear of being crated and being alone, so it would be best to have a companion. I’ve spent time with my foster brothers free roaming and have done well during those times! If you think I’m the right boy for you, please contact your Midwest BREW adoption counselor. NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

Story
JAKE 5 months Attributes Working on housetraining Snuggly Will potty on leash Playful Dog friendly Good with kids over age of 4 Hi there! My name is Jake and I'm a Beagle/Basset Hound mix — that means I've got the perfect combo of floppy ears, soulful eyes, and a nose that loves to explore! I currently weigh about 25 pounds, but I'm still growing into my big paws. I'm a happy, curious pup who lives for playtime. Give me a ball, a squeaky toy, or a good chew toy, and I'll be one very busy (and very joyful) little guy. I also love zooming around the yard and wrestling with my brother — we have the best time! Oh, and if you turn on the hose - Get ready for a show! I'll bark, chase, and try to catch the water stream like it's my greatest mission in life. Meal time is my absolute favorite time of day (I mean, who doesn't love food?), and I'll wag my tail like crazy when I know it's time to eat. After all that excitement, I love curling up close to my humans for some snuggles. I'm friendly with other dogs, too, and I'd be so happy to have furry friends to romp around with. I'm looking for a loving home where I can get plenty of attention, playtime, and cuddles — and maybe a yard to run around in too! If you're ready for a loyal, silly, and affectionate puppy to join your family, I think we could be the perfect match. NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI). Please read our Standards for Adoption and the information about beagles and puppies before you submit an adoption application. Remember that owning a puppy is a full-time commitment and you must have the time to commit to a dog that will be with you for 12-17 years. Beagle puppies are cute - but they are very challenging. Puppies may eat your apartment (no refund of security deposit); people who are gone for more than 5 hours at a time will need to make dog walker, neighbor or doggie daycare arrangements. We discourage the adoption of puppies to families with children under the age of six, since puppies will chew toys, shoes, blankets, hands, feet and other important parts of your child's anatomy.

Story
MAISIE 4 months Attributes Good w/dogs Crate trained Working on housetraining Maisie may be the runt of the litter, but don’t let her size fool you — this 4-month-old, 16-pound Beagle/Basset mix has a big personality packed into her little body! She’s the feisty, talkative little sister who absolutely loves being the center of attention. Maisie has a huge heart for people and gets along well with other dogs, greeting everyone she meets with tail wags and puppy energy. She’s already making great progress with her training — she’s crate trained and nearly house trained, with only an occasional accident. Maisie is still learning how to walk on a leash and ride comfortably in the car, but with patience and consistency she’ll catch on quickly. Like any curious puppy, she has a mischievous streak (trash and wrappers are her weakness!) but she has shown wonderful manners with personal belongings and happily sticks to her toys. Maisie will thrive in a home that offers structure, guidance, and lots of love. Whether it’s a house with a fenced yard or an apartment with plenty of walks and playtime, she’ll bring endless joy, affection, and puppy antics to her forever family. Maisie is ready to share her love and brighten the life of whoever is lucky enough to call her theirs. Could that be you? Story
CORI Female 8 years Attributes Adult home only preferred Single dog home Dog friendly Good w/cats Requires a fence Housetrained Good in cars Cori is a sweet beagle girl with an adorable underbite. She was obviously very much loved in her previous home, but sadly, her mom passed away. Now, at 8 years old, Cori is looking for a forever home where she can be spoiled again. An adult-only home where she can have ample time to settle in would be best for Cori. She would prefer a quiet lifestyle (no cities or busy neighborhoods for Cori) and would like to be the only dog in the household. That being said, Cori enjoys her visits to doggy daycare where she can socialize with other dogs. Cori also does well with cats. Cori will thrive in a home where she has a regular routine and will be walked daily so her beagle nose can be used to its fullest potential. She’s house trained, but she doesn’t potty on leash, so a fenced yard is a must. Car rides with Cori are a breeze – she’s the perfect passenger when it’s time to hit the road! Because Cori was displaying some behavior that we wanted to better understand, we sent her to a certified professional dog trainer. Cori was already on medication for general anxiety, and she underwent thorough behavioral and medical evaluations to determine if there was something else that was affecting her behavior. We discovered that Cori’s underbite was causing a lot of jaw pain, and her discomfort was affecting how she interacted with the world. Since starting daily anti-inflammatory medication, Cori has bloomed beautifully. According to her trainer, she now has a good appetite and is a “total foodie.” Her confidence has increased, she’s more playful and more at ease meeting new people, and she has learned to ignore distractions while she’s on leash. Best of all, Cori is now ready to find her new forever home. If Cori seems like the beagle buddy you’ve been looking for, please contact Midwest BREW to learn more about her.
