Both had just given birth to litters of eight puppies each… and what happened next was something I will never forget. These two girls raised their babies together—so lovingly, so naturally—that we truly couldn’t tell which puppies belonged to who. There was no separation, no guarding… just shared motherhood, trust, and pure instinct. It was one of the most beautiful things I’ve witnessed in rescue. Bella herself is what I like to call the best breed of all—an All-American mutt. We see a little Lab, maybe some Aussie, and a sprinkle of whatever else life added in. But what really defines her isn’t her mix—it’s her heart. When Bella first arrived, she was very timid. You could see she hadn’t been shown kindness by the people who should have protected her. And yet… she allowed us to handle her, care for her, and help her babies. That kind of quiet trust, even through fear, tells you everything about who she is. With time, patience, and reassurance, Bella is finding her confidence. Watching her come out of that fear and choose to trust again—it’s something you don’t forget. I can’t say enough how much I adore her spirit or how deeply I admire her courage. Bella is going to be an incredible companion—loving, nurturing, loyal… the kind of dog who bonds deeply and gives her whole heart once she knows she’s safe. Story

Lou is a smart, loving, senior dog who does best with one person (or two). She was adopted from a rescue in GA when she was 10 mos old and has lived with us the past 9 yrs. As with most heelers, she is protective, likes order, and is an extremely loyal "velcro" dog. She has a history of biting, as is her herding instinct, but is not aggressive. She prefers to be alone with her humans, and to not have much interaction with others/dogs. She learns really quickly but will give you some sass! She has been the cuddliest, goofiest adventure companion we could ever ask for. She was recently diagnosed with a mast cell tumor which we cannot afford to correct, as we had a baby at the same time as one of us lost our job. The vet said removing the tumor could give her many more years. She would be best with a single person or couple who knows the breed, loves to be active, and has no kids/dogs, and would commit to getting her the surgery and giving her a loving home in her last years.
