Story
Introducing 5 year old Raven, the three-legged wonder dog, who's 55 pounds of pure loving and ready to steal your heart. Hailing all the way from the bluegrass state of Kentucky, Raven made her grand debut at our rescue group in the past. Raven's journey took a turn when she found herself in the loving embrace of a beautiful, amazing, and oh-so-loving senior owner. Together, they embarked on countless adventures, sharing love, laughter, and plenty of belly rubs along the way. But alas, fate had other plans, and Raven's beloved owner recently passed away. Now, as Raven's world turns upside down once again, she finds herself in need of a new forever home. But fear not, because this playful pup is more than ready to bring some silly shenanigans into your life. With her loving nature, beautiful soul, and infectious energy, Raven is the life of the party wherever she goes. This tripod dynamo may have only three legs (from a leg injury that was never correctly tended to), but Raven has taken it in stride like a true champion. Great on the leash, fantastic with people and dogs alike, and with her sweet disposition, she is sure to be wonderful with feline friends as well. Housebroken and trained to perfection, Raven is the definition of everything you could ever want in a companion—and then some. Sure, she may have had a little mishap back in Kentucky that resulted in her becoming a member of the tripod club, but let me tell you, she's taken it in stride like a true champion. So if you're ready to add a little fun and a whole lot of love to your life, then Raven is the perfect pup for you. Reach out to our rescue group today to begin the adoption process and let the fun-filled adventures begin! With Raven by your side, every day will be a paw-some adventure! If you have specific adoption or foster questions, please email: judy.atchison@yahoo.com THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN RESCUING A DOG! Story
Meet Willy, a charming 1.5-year-old, 65-pound pit bull terrier mix on a quest for his perfect match – a dedicated, committed foster who will help him blossom into his best self. Willy's journey began in the bustling streets of New York City, where he was discovered locked away in an abandoned van. Fortunately, fate intervened when the fire department rescued him, and one compassionate firefighter instantly bonded with him. Under the firefighter's care, Willy received the love, medical attention, and newfound experiences he longed for. But life took an unexpected turn when circumstances forced his guardian to part ways with him, leading Willy to our doorstep. Willy isn't seeking adoption just yet. Instead, he eagerly awaits a long-term commitment from a compassionate foster who is willing to invest in his continued growth and development. This dedicated individual will partner with our expert trainer to nurture Willy's potential, helping him thrive in a loving home environment.  As an added bonus, Dr. Lofaro at Emerson Animal Hospital has offered one year free medical visits and services.  Willy's story is one of resilience and hope – an underdog tale where second chances and unwavering support are boundless. He's ready to embark on this transformative journey, confident that there are humans out there who won't give up on him. Will you be the one to show him that he's truly worth it? Story
1 1/2 year old, 48-pound lab mix Snuggles arrived Saturday April 6th from Mississippi expecting to go to her forever home on Sunday. Snuggles was scared and anxious at the time, and larger than what the Mississippi shelter originally conveyed to Peace4Paws.  For those two reasons Snuggles never went home as planned.   Her adopter decided not to adopt Snuggles.  So sad! None of this was Snuggles fault.  She was just a baby and spent most of her life growing up in a kind shelter. She socialized with her sister and other dogs and got along well with all the familiar shelter humans, she would give them kisses and hugs, but she did not know much about life outside the kennel.  When she first arrived in NJ she was scared, but eventually she was eating out of the hand of the sensitive Peace4Paws volunteer.  Her baby steps of learning to trust quickly turned around to feeling terror when she entered the boarding facility and suddenly encountered all the new people. Since that scary first day, she has been visited by one of our trainers, Richie from Greta Trains Dogs and he noted that since her world had been turned upside down and was understandably scared.  In the shortest of times as noted in the videos she has been accepting the kindness of the Peace4Paws volunteers who have taken control of handling her at the boarding facility. They can’t come often or for long but they are helping her learn to trust and adjust.   See our attached video!   She is just like a normal friendly dog!  Snuggles is dog friendly and getting more and more comfortable on a leash. Peace4Paws is looking for a patient, experienced foster that can help her decompress and slowly introduce her to the world.  She would do well with a confidant resident dog and a low traffic household. No young children at this point (but possibly later). She spent many hours since a baby in the kennel without experiencing the full spectrum of attention she would have received in a home.  She gave and received love from the humans.  She had the companionship of her sister.  So, she could be in a pen, kennel or a gated area for an extended amount of time without any human companionship. She is not at this time used to cars or to many normal home experiences, but we need for that to change for her so we are reaching out to you. We are seriously looking for a committed foster or adopter who wishes to help her learn to trust the world. She is spayed, fully vetted and up to date on her shots. She is very healthy according to all reports and observations. To apply, visit www.peace4paws.org and submit your application using a laptop or computer.  If you have specific adoption or foster questions, please email: judy.atchison@yahoo.com THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN RESCUING A DOG! Story
Meet Sissy, the most delightful Staffy mix with a heart as big as her smile. Weighing in at 42 pounds and 4 years young, Sissy is the definition of canine charm. With her warm personality, fun-loving spirit, and friendly nature, she's sure to steal your heart from the moment you meet her. We know her very well here at the rescue group and are cheering her on, in the search of finding her forever. Sissy's journey hasn't been without its challenges, but her resilience and unwavering spirit continue to shine through. Once a cherished member of a loving family, Sissy was given away when they fell on hard times, leading to mistreatment by her new owner. Thankfully fate intervened, and a very pregnant Sissy found herself in the loving arms of the Knox Whitley Shelter in Corbin, KY. There, she received the care and compassion she desperately needed, and welcomed a litter of precious puppies into the world.  From there, Sissy's journey led her to the kind embrace of a foster family in NJ, where she's now thriving more than ever. Her gentle nature and playful demeanor make her a favorite among adults, kids and canines alike - however a home without cats is ideal. Sissy is housebroken, spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and an all around well-behaved little lady. She is so much more than a rescue dog—she's a testament to a beacon of hope and the power of love. With her spirit overflowing with joy, Sissy is ready to find her forever family; one that will cherish her unconditionally and provide her with the care she deserves. If you're interested in opening your heart to this amazing pup, apply today at www.peace4paws.org on your computer or laptop (not available on smartphones). Together, let's give Sissy the second chance at happiness that she eagerly awaits. If you have specific adoption or foster questions, please email: judy.atchison@yahoo.com THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN RESCUING A DOG! Story
Introducing Roger, the one-year-old Blue Heeler with a heart as big as his hopes for finding a forever family. Hailing from the heart of Tennessee, this pup with the personality to match, is packing his bags and preparing to bring his sweetness to a lucky family near you. The Blue Heeler breed is renowned for its unwavering loyalty and energy. Blue Heelers like Roger are intelligent and athletic, making them steadfast companions and cherished family members. Roger would thrive in an active family with a fenced backyard, and adores other dogs along with kids, but would prefer a home with no cats. Roger was turned in due to his owner having too many pets and being unable to properly care for them all. But rest assured - Rodger is ready to explore the world, having been neutered and up-to-date on all his vaccinations, including rabies, distemper/parvo, and kennel cough. He's also received top-notch flea, tick, and worm prevention treatments, making him ready to start his new life on the right paw. Roger could use a little help with leash training, but truly loves using the great outdoors as his playground. He's is set to arrive in NJ on April 26th and is patiently waiting for his cue to make your family complete. If interested in adoption, please apply at www.peace4paws.org from a laptop or computer.
