Story
I was fostering him from a kill shelter. He is very sweet to me. He slept with me in my bed, follows me, etc. He play fights with my dogs. However, he hurt one of my cats badly and killed another. He would be best in a home alone, or maybe another dog. The vet he saw at the shelter said he didn’t do well with men, but he seems to be ok from what I’ve seen. No guarantees. Unknown about kids.

Story
Bennie is a loving and affectionate family member. He is devoted to his "people" and is a champion snuggler. He is flexible and always willing to make adjustments for others. Bennie is an adult dog (almost 5 years old), with lots of fun left in him. He is eager to please and up for a hike in the woods or just hanging on the couch. He loves the water and has been swimming since he was a puppy- even in the ocean. He will chase a stick or ball, but won't always return it! Bennie would thrive in most environments- he loves children and other dogs. He is still active and enjoys his daily walk or a yard or dog park to romp. Bennie is house-trained, of course and doesn't put anything in his mouth- except maybe his favorite blanket. He will respond to simple commands: sit, focus, stay, paw. Bennie was himself a rescue and has only been with one family- including a young son. He has had to move with us into new environments living with new people and dogs and easily adjusting and thriving.

Story
Girlie was one of our dogs who during our shelter fire ran off and was recaptured the same day. Luckily she did not suffer any further injury other than being frightened. Her foster Mom says: "Girlie is the perfect mix of playful and chill! She loves to be with her people but is quite content on her own. From the moment Girlie walked in the door, it was as if she has always been part of our home. She loves her toys, especially tennis balls and playing fetch by herself. Girlie is not destructive and is very respectful. While she does enjoy zoomies in the backyard, Girlie also loves just hanging and resting with her people. She asks to go outside to do her business and has had no accidents in the house. Girlie is playful with our dogs, and submissive in the pack. She is curious to see what her people are up to but then settles to rest or look out the window. Girlie is not a barker and loves to get exercise in the backyard or for a walk. She is good on leash and redirects easily. It has been an absolute joy to have Girlie in our home! Whomever adopts her will have a loyal friend and loving companion!! Girlie is very good with dogs. We do not know what she thinks of cats. Girlie is 2 years old and 73 pounds. Please help Girlie find the loving home she deserves. Update: Girlie had tested positive for Lyme's. She has already completed her antibiotic treatment and is feeling great. Girlie is ready to go home! We do NOT ship our animals. Story
Maverick was one of our shelter fire survivors and is now in a foster home. Maverick loves butt scratches and is walking well on leash. He isn’t super interested in playing with toys however he will play for a bit. His previous owner seemed to just let him out in the backyard and did not teach him commands or walk him much but our staff have been working with him and now Maverick knows how to sit and really enjoys taking walks in the woods. Maverick is anxious around other dogs so he would do best in a home as an only dog. He is sensitive about anything done around his neck but we have been working with him on this and able to put a collar/leash on. He will need an owner who is experienced with working breeds and will continue to work with him on this to get him comfortable with that and to give him the structure he needs. Maverick would love to have someone give him a chance to have a home of his own. Maverick is about 6 years old and 44 pounds. Please help Maverick find a loving family of his own. We do NOT ship our animals. All adoptive families must travel to us to meet their adoptive dog/cat. Applicants must live within a 2 hour radius from Sparta/Andover (07871/07821). Story
Sugar was one of our rescued dogs from our shelter fire. She originally found herself in a bad place - an overcrowded, high kill shelter. The staff there reached out for help and we were able to take her in. Sugar is just as her name says - sweet as Sugar. She is good with people and other dogs. We do not know what she thinks about cats. Sugar has been to the vet, spayed and even had a dental done. Sugar is about 3-4 years old and 27 pounds. We do NOT ship our animals. All adoptive families must travel to us to meet their adoptive dog/cat. Applicants must live within a 2 hour radius from Sparta/Andover (07871/07821).
