Story
Roland was surrendered when his owners decided they did not want a dog anymore. He has not adapted well to the changes in his young life and will guard his home, his person and his food so he will not "lose" them again. Roland needs someone who is an experienced, strong handler who is willing to work with him to overcome his anxieties. He does seem to form bonds with women faster than men. A quieter home with low traffic and no children would suit him best. Roland has so much potential to be a wonderful pet in the right home. Roland is only about 3-4 years old and 41 pounds. Please help this beagle boy find the loving home that he deserves. We do NOT ship our animals. All adoptive families must travel to us to meet their adoptive dog/cat. Applicants must live within a 2 hour radius from Sparta/Andover (07871/07821). Please understand that we are an animal shelter and thus unable to say whether the dogs are housebroken as they are not in homes. If you are interested in adopting, we encourage you to please submit an application on our website today so that we can try and process and pre-approve any potential adopters prior to our next adoption event. Story
Scrunchie is a good girl. She is very affectionate and playful. Scrunch will sit on command for a treat, adores peanut butter and walks well on a leash. Scrunch is is still abit confused right now being left here at the shelter but coming out of her shell and becoming happier with each passing day. She was surrendered when she and the resident dog stopped getting along. When Scrunch was a puppy, all was well but a year later is when the issues started with being possessive over food/treats/toys and because of this she needs a home without other dogs. At just over a year old, Scrunchie still plays like a puppy - it can a bit rough and tumble so she would do best in a home with Kids 12+ where she wouldn't accidentally knock them over. She does not mind cats once she knows they are there. Scrunch is about 1 - 2 years old and 50 pounds. Please help our girl Scrunch find the loving home she deserves. We do NOT ship our animals. All adoptive families must travel to us to meet their adoptive dog/cat. Applicants must live within a 2 hour radius from Sparta/Andover (07871/07821). Story
From Dora's foster: Meet Dora! Dora is a loving and goofy dog that will bring happiness and joy to your life. This clever girl will stop at nothing to bring a smile to your face. She is house broken, crate trained, and is a polite companion while riding in the car. Dora loves playtime, especially if there are other dogs around. She will chase some cats so a cat free home would probably be best. This funny girl will make a joke out of dinner time and will sometimes carry her food bowl around the house! Where did all the dog toys go? They are in Dora's bed. She says thank you very much - they are acceptable. She is quiet and very rarely makes a sound, but instead lets you know what she wants by pawing at you to play or looking out the window by the door to let you know that she needs to go outside. She loves to be outside and is looking forward to walks with her future family. Dora is just stunning with soulful hazel eyes - she deserves a loving home. She is shy at first, so her forever family will need to give her the time she needs to come out of her shell, another dog in the household would help her immensely. After this sweet girl gets to know you, she will always be happy to see you, even if you were only gone for five minutes! Dora is a perfect companion... she just needs a family to give her a chance. Could your family be the one that finally does? Dora is about 1-2 years old and 48 pounds. Please help Dora find the loving home she deserves. Story
Charlie is a happy, loving boy who has been waiting for his forever home for a long time. He is full of life and loves to play with toys. His exuberant and playful nature is sure to bring joy and energy to any home. Charlie gets along well with other dogs, making him an ideal companion for those with canine siblings. However, he is not a fan of cats, so a cat-free household is a must. Charlie used to have a tendency to be possessive of his toys, but with dedication and training from the shelter staff, he has made significant improvements. He now responds to the 'out' command and is learning to share his toys. Requirements for a New Home: Charlie would do best in a home without children, as he may not be comfortable around them. An experienced dog owner who can provide the necessary structure and consistency for Charlie to thrive. The new owner should be committed to continuing the positive reinforcement and training work that the shelter staff has started. Charlie is a wonderful dog who deserves a loving forever home. His playful and loving nature makes him an ideal companion for someone who understands his needs and is willing to provide him with the support and care he requires. If you have the experience and dedication to help Charlie become a successful member of your family, he is ready to bring happiness and companionship to your life. Please consider giving Charlie the loving home he truly deserves. Charlie is about 6 years old and 73 pounds. ** We currently have 2 dogs with similar names. Please note that this is CHARLIE when filling out your application or making any inquiries about him. We do NOT ship our animals. Story
Meet Vivian. Her mom, Lilly (a Tree Walker Coonhound) was picked up as a stray and brought to a local Humane Society where she was found to be pregnant. Vivian and her "V" littermates were lucky to be born in a safe and loving environment instead of in the woods. They have been given the best of care, well socialized and now they are all ready to find their forever homes. Their Dad is believed to be Trail, a Lab mix who weighs 50 lb full grown while Mom weighs about 55 pounds full grown. (Mom and Dad have since been adopted). Vivian is playful, gets along with other dogs, cats and kids too. She is about a year old and 44 pounds. Vivian is a happy girl ready to find a family of her own.
