Story
Dice is a 6 year old Rat Terrier looking for a special committed foster or adopter. As a result of never being neutered, he ended up with a large perianal hernia that entrapped his bladder, leaving him in urgent need of emergency surgery and unable to go to the bathroom. Everything is back in place now and he's a scared little guy but sweet once he warms up, and recovering from his ordeal. We may still need to get him a second surgery to fully repair the hernia depending on how things heal, but would love to find him a nice quiet home to recover. Please submit an application to meet him Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Age: 6yrs 1mths 0wks

Story
Meet Penny! This adorable tiny bully girl has the shortest legs and widest shoulders, loves everyone she meets and is a super friendly happy girl, cuddly with bursts of excited playful energy. She came from a situation where she wasn't getting proper care and spent most of her time in a small crate. She is about 2 years old and 33lbs full grown. Her adorable short snorty face and squatty frog-like shape means adopters will have to make sure she maintains a healthy weight to help minimize future arthritis and worsening breathing issues, and more indoor playtime in the air conditioning during hot weather. She is still working on housebreaking and will likely need some patience with that and does better with a fenced yard to go out into vs realizing she's supposed to go to the bathroom on leash walks. She is a lot of fun and loves to play with toys and zoom around the play yards but does tire easily especially in the heat. She does like to play with some male dogs but can be a bit bossy and territorial so would be best as an only pet or possibly with the right bigger submissive male in an experienced home. If you love a snorty mushy faced little bulldog and have a nice cool air-conditioned home for her to enjoy this summer, please submit an application to meet her Primary Color: Chocolate Weight: 33 Age: 2yrs 2mths 1wks

Story
Meet Joy! Her little tail is always wagging and she's a sweet funny little pup looking for someone to share her joy of life. She's only 10lbs, about 5 months old and looks to be a chiweenie (best guess... she has some chi and doxie traits) and is looking for a family with the time for a puppy. She seems to have been wee wee pad trained and has been pretty good about using them at the shelter, but being a puppy will likely need some work and confinement/training to be fully housebroken. Please submit an application to meet Joy! Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: Tan Weight: 9.875 Age: 0yrs 5mths 2wks

Story
Meet Happy the Shiba! He always looks like he's smiling and laughing, but his life wasn't always so joyful. He was frequently allowed to roam the streets in a local inner city, and recently was picked up by animal control limping with several lacerations and a deep wound on his back leg, possibly his by a car. After weeks of treatment he's finally completely healed and ready for a responsible permanent home. Even before his injury, this poor guy suffered in pain for many years due to untreated entropion in both his eyes. You know how painful it is getting an eyelash in your eye? Imagine all of your eyelashes constantly scraping your eyes for you whole life. He's had surgery to correct the issue and is so much more comfortable- no more painful squinting and irritation to his eyes. We think he's about 3-4 years old, around 35lbs, and he's looking for a Shiba-loving home that understands the catlike quirks and escape artist tendencies of the breed and will keep him safe. He is a lot of fun, LOVES playing with toys and bouncing around the play yards now that he's feeling better. He doesn't seem to be fond of other animals he has met and seems to prefer to be the only pet. Please submit an application to meet Happy Primary Color: Tri Color Weight: 32 Age: 4yrs 3mths 3wks

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Snickers is one of several mixed breeds who came to us from a local home who became overwhelmed with too many dogs... another important reminder of why spay/neuter is so important! In just a few years, 2 dogs and their offspring became 20+!!! The rest of his family members have been adopted, but as one of the most fearful Snickers is still waiting for his special person. Snickers is a 3 yr old mixed breed hound at under 45lbs full grown. Snickers was terrified and had never been out of the house/yard or on a leash before coming to us, but has come a long way trusting his special people. He loves other dogs and would benefit from a quieter patient adult home with a compatible more confident dog to learn from and follow. He gets easily spooked on walks by too many people, trucks, loud noises, etc and tries to run back to the safety of his kennel. The busy shelter environment is especially difficult on fearful dogs and he would love to get into a quiet adult home soon. He's had some issues with chronic ear infections on and off and panics being handled by the vets without sleepy meds, but has been doing better on a special hypoallergenic diet and not having as many flares, and is otherwise healthy. Please submit an application to meet Snickers Primary Color: Tan Secondary Color: White Age: 3yrs 5mths 4wks

Not good with kids, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
It was 5am. The call went out: Send the Police! 🚨 Adorned in protective gear, the police approached the house timidly - unsure what they'd find inside. The homeowner had called frantically. A monster may be lying in wait...As the door sprung open, a demon emerged: fluffy, 12lb, 8 year old Christopher. Street name: Christo-FURY.Look at him the wrong way, and he'll have something to say. Interrupt his nap and you'll never hear the end of it. While he may look like a perfectly cuddly lapdog, he is ANYTHING BUT. That 5am call to the police about a 12lb dog terrorizing her? That's true...and, that's how Christopher finds himself with us now. A wannabe police dog, this Maltese/Shih Tzu mix found himself on the outside looking in at the Police Dog Academy. HIs bark found insufficiently fearsome, and his tiny frame unfit for the riggers of police life. Now: all bark, no badge. Many things offend our little ChristoFURY. On the short list: men, children, strangers, neighbors, delivery people, repairmen, vets, groomers, sharing food, big or energetic dogs.Christopher definitely has some good qualities, too. He's quite a charmer with the ladies - often able to hide his devious side. Christopher gives plenty of warning if you learn his rules and listen to them. He's a good walker, non-shedding, and smart. Overall, Christopher is in great health other than a mild heart murmur which doesn't require medication. Beyond a patient one, we aren't sure what home will suit this little devil best. He may accept the presence of another chill dog, does not want kisses goodnight or to be woken up too early in the morning, and can be bribed with chicken and cheese. If you are still reading and thinking this sounds like a great dog to adopt, please make an appointment with a good therapist(KIDDING), and apply at RBARI.org/dogs so we can broker a meeting with ChristoFURY.If you think you can "fix" him, don't bother - those relationships never work out if you aren't ready to accept each other flaws and all, and he's done with trying to fit into society's convention of what a "pet" should be and looking to live life on his terms - with the rap sheet to prove it. Primary Color: White Age: 9yrs 0mths 3wks
