Macie (Brindle) and Mackley (Tan) are 1-year-old siblings who are sweet, adorable, lovable, and looking for someone to love them back forever. They've been through a lot in a very short time from being dumped then ending up in a high kill shelter next up for euthanasia. They were saved and brought to New Jersey. In spite of all they've been through, Macie and Mackley absolutely love people, get along with dogs and are fine with cats. Both have a nice playful energy so kids 14 and older would be ideal. They walk nicely on leash, know basic obedience, and are housetrained. They love being around people and promise to offer you a lifetime of love, and enjoy learning new things!! Meet Twix, an adorable 35-pound Basset Hound mix with short legs, long ears, and a whole lot of love to give. This girl is the total package — playful, snuggly, goofy, and incredibly sweet. Twix is a big fan of toys and is happiest when she’s carrying one around or trotting across the room with her tail wagging. She will also fetch a ball, although not always bring it back to you! I mean, come on, she’s a Basset Hound, not a Retriever!! While she has shown no signs of food or toy possessiveness in her foster home, adopters should always be mindful and practice good supervision, just as you would with any dog. She’s a happy sharer, but we always recommend common-sense precautions in new environments. Twix gets along well with most dogs and enjoys playtime. She can be a tiny bit snarky upon first meeting (Basset sass, what can we say?), but she settles quickly once she realizes everyone’s friendly. Twix is crate trained and will serenade you with a short Basset aria before settling down. She’s still working on her house training, but she does great when kept on a consistent schedule. She also rides beautifully in the car, hops in and out on her own, and handles stairs like a champ. At her core, Twix is a loving, joyful dog who adores attention and wants nothing more than to be someone’s cuddle buddy. She’s truly a wonderful companion, and the person who adopts her is going to be very, very lucky. Pennywise is an 8.5-year-old scruffy gal who has been rescued by NorthStar. She is good with children, having been exposed multiple times to a 7-year-old, plus she rides well in a car. She's headed to a loving foster home and as we learn more about her, we will update her bio. Pennywise will be coming to NJ to find her perfect fit. Story

Timothy showed up at a high kill shelter in Texas in really bad shape. His fur was really thin, his skin was inflamed, and he had a big mass on one of his hips. Fast forward, all of those issues were addressed and he joined the Northstar family. He is settling in with his Texas foster mom. She says he loves going for walks and is perfect on leash! Timothy is 8 years old and weighs 16 pounds. Timothy always has a soulful look on his face, almost like Eeyore. He is slow to warm up to people but quickly takes to other dogs, big and small. He follows his foster mom around - but isn’t a cuddler yet. (With more time, we think he will get there.) He is cautious around people he doesn’t know and needs extra time to get comfortable. It’s like he is a tad suspicious - worried that new people aren’t going to be nice to him. But with time and lots of TLC, we are sure he will come around. At this point, Timothy doesn’t need to be in a home with children, but that could change as he learns that there are lots of nice people in the world. Meet Mei Mei!&#226&#128&#168Born in February 2022 and weighing under 15 pounds, Mei Mei is a pocket-sized bundle of happy energy. This sweet girl has one main goal in life: to be close to her people. Whether you’re working, relaxing, or moving around the house, she’ll be right there with you—tail wagging and heart full. Mei Mei is a champion snuggler who loves to curl up on your lap or in a cozy bed. But she’s not a total couch potato either. When she’s not glued to her foster mom’s side or napping, she loves to sniff around the yard or play with her foster siblings. She does have some hip issues, and is scheduled for an orthopedic consult in mid-December to learn more about how to best support her long-term comfort and mobility. For now, she gets around well and still has plenty of pep in her step. In fact, she would do best in a home with a fenced in yard because she loves to run and explore and will definitely chase squirrels! Mei Mei has displayed some destructive behavior when left alone, so she does need to be crated. If you’re looking for a tiny companion with a huge heart, Mei Mei might be your perfect match. She’s ready to shower her forever family with love, loyalty, and endless snuggles.
