Story
Lola is an 11 year old lab/catahoula leopard mix that my family got as a puppy. She has been a very easy going sweet dog for the most part, but recently has started to be aggressive towards our other dog. My parents no longer feel safe leaving the 2 dogs alone together and since they are both gone most of the day, they are really hoping to find a better home for Lola. She is gentle towards all people and is fine with other dogs that don’t try to play with her, but a home without other pets would be ideal. However I do think a home with another older dog that isn’t interested in playing would be fine for her. A home with a backyard would also be ideal as she is used to having that now. She can be left home alone for 8+ hours and really is an easy dog. We love her and are so sad to have to do this but know the current situation is not safe to continue this way. Also, she is in great health and doesn’t have any special medical needs.

Story
Lola is an 11-year-old Black Lab/Catahoula Leopard Dog mix who has been a loyal and loving companion since she was rescued at eight weeks old from a Mississippi shelter. As a puppy, she was easygoing, smart, and quick to learn, bringing years of joy and comfort to her family—especially during difficult times. She is affectionate with people and thrives on companionship, enjoying a calm, stable home where she can be close to her humans. Ideal Home: Lola needs to be the only pet in the household. She is not comfortable around other dogs and can become reactive, particularly around food, treats, or toys. She does not show this behavior with people. The Right Match: Lola would do best in a peaceful, single-dog home where she can feel secure and continue being the devoted companion she’s always been.

Story
If your application is a possible match, a volunteer will get back to you within 48 hrs. No inquiries, please, without an application. Meet Lovebug, a stunning 3-year-old American Bulldog mix whose name perfectly reflects her sweet and affectionate nature. Rescued from a local New Jersey shelter, Lovebug is a joyful soul who adores everyone she meets. She has a zest for life that’s as big as her heart, and her playful energy is bound to bring a smile to your face. Lovebug is good on leash and enjoys quiet, short walks where she can take in her surroundings at a gentle pace. She would absolutely love a fenced yard where she can romp and play to her heart’s content. She takes treats gently, is eager to please, and thrives on human connection. A home with older kids is preferred due to her playful nature and her tendency to think she’s a lap dog! Lovebug does have a medical condition that requires special care. Despite two surgeries to address her challenges, she sometimes struggles with breathing and regurgitation when she gets overexcited. She’s currently on a low level of medication that helps keep her calm, and this works successfully about 90% of the time. Because of this, she needs a peaceful home with minimal commotion to help her stay relaxed and comfortable. She would do best as the only pet in the household, where she can soak up all the love and attention. Lovebug is ready to find a dedicated and patient family who will give her the calm, nurturing environment she needs to thrive. One interaction with this amazing girl, and you’ll see why her name is Lovebug. She’s ready to fill your life with endless love and loyalty—are you ready to be her forever family? Story
Sweet senior Betty has come such a long way. When she was first rescued by Best Friend Dog & Animal Adoption Inc., she was in heartbreaking condition—covered in infections and in desperate need of care. Thanks to the dedication and love of her rescuers, Betty was nursed back to health, and today she is thriving in her foster home, ready to find the forever family she has always deserved.   Betty is the picture of good manners—she’s housebroken, crate-trained, and sleeps peacefully through the night in her own bed with her favorite blankies. She doesn’t climb on furniture but stays close to her people, offering warmth and companionship. She has also learned to take treats gently and even knows how to give a friendly “high five”!    Betty would prefer to be the queen of her castle as the only pet in the home, soaking up the love and attention she so richly deserves. What matters most to Betty is being with the people she loves, sharing her gentle spirit and loyal heart.   Her sweetness shines through in everything she does. She greets everyone with kindness, rides beautifully in the car, and loves her spa days—relaxing in the bath, enjoying the blow dryer, and melting into her coconut oil massages.   A yard would be greatly appreciated, where Betty can relax and soak up the world around her in peace. She would also love a home where her person or family is around more often than not, since she thrives on companionship.   After such a rough start, Betty’s resilience and sweetness are nothing short of inspiring. She is patiently waiting in Cranford, NJ with Best Friend Dog & Animal Adoption Inc. (bfdaaa.com) for the forever family who will give her the love-filled life she’s been waiting for.   Please apply to adopt Betty at bfdaaa.com If your application is a possible match, a volunteer will get back to you shortly.May 27, 2026, 7:58 pm

Story
Meet Maximus!!!! He is quite the combination of Chihuahua and Pomeranian. Two of the most opinionated breeds around. Maximus is about 7 years old and has a personality all his own. He is only for experienced Chihuahua or small breed owners. Maximus is just like many of your typical small breeds. Once he knows you, he loves you. He is extremely cute and food motivated which helps in winning him over. Maximus must go into an adult only home with very minimal access to children. He does not do well with commotion, loud noises or anyone rushing up to him. All the things children like to do. His ideal home is a retired couple or individual that can devote time and energy to his needs. Being a semi-senior he does not require extensive exercise or stimulation. A comfy couch, some walks and a lot of treats and he is a happy boy. Maximus has a clean bill of health and recently had a dental so he is ready for his next chapter. If you think Maximus could be the perfect fit, please go to bfdaaa.com to complete an application. March 17, 2026, 12:07 am

Story
Cokie is a fun dog who prefers the run of the house and be with her people as much as possible. She is curious, is always in a great mood, and is always up for petting or playing with her ball. She is good on a leash and walks at a happy trot, is friendly with most dogs, is friendly with children (but maybe not very small children?), and has lived with a small dog most of her life. Cokie may not be a pup, but she is an actual dog. At a check-up the vet confirmed her good health. We took her in after a friend’s elderly dad had gotten too immobile and could no longer take care of her.Why a rehome? Its not Cokie, its us. We have a senior cat and have adopted two senior dogs before. Cokie is curious and wants to visit the cat, which sends our timid cat fleeing upstairs and into hiding. Cokie gets some separation anxiety and will keep vigil and pace but be overjoyed when everyone gets home.. We cannot make both animals happy and the cat was here first.
