Story
If you are active, adventurous and looking for a partner, Rhys (Reese) is happy to apply! Rhys has taken multiple 5 hour car rides without issue. Rhys is a ball of energy that needs a secure yard or attentive supervision but has great recall, can sit on command, respond to up, leave it and lay down. Rhys gets along with other dogs big and small. He currently lives in a house with two other dogs (66lb and 15lb). He enjoys going to Camp Bow Wow during the day to socialize and play but is known to over exert himself by having too much fun. He does need help on learning to back off when other dogs are telling him that he is being too much and to slow down- he's been known to be a bit of a third-wheeler. He will occasionally need reminders to respect personal space with his body and feet, but will back off with gentle reminders. Rhys is crate trained and loves to lay in his crate when he wants to nap alone. He is fully potty trained and intuitive to routine bathrooming.

Story
URGENT!! Sammie was a rescue puppy that we got about two yrs ago. He is really smart and loves people.he weighs 65 lbs. he learns quickly. My husband physical health is deteriorating and my arthritis/ strength is getting worse as we get older. Sammie is so strong and active that we cannot give him the care or exercise he deserves. We love this silly dog and he makes me laugh. I want to find him a caring parent who loves dogs. He does not chew things except his toys. Very playful. He is spoiled and very loved. He is not an outside dog. Hoping to find a good home because it breaks my heart to give him up.

Luna is a four year old Pitbull and Heeler mix who LOVES to play fetch. She loves being outdoors and is always looking for something to do. She is a big cuddler. She is a very smart, happy, loyal and energetic dog. We have a big family so we don’t have the space anymore to keep her :( So we’re looking for someone who enjoys the outdoors and is able to love her just as much as we have

Story
Banks is fostered in Ottumwa, Iowa.  Say hello to this handsome and INCREDIBLY sweet boy named Banks. Banks is a male, standard aussie, weighing about 40 lbs and is estimated around 5 years old.  Banks is being fostered with many other dogs and does wonderfully.  Banks is a SWEET boy and would love nothing more than a home with plenty of love and another dog friend.  Banks has great house manners; is crate trained and house trained.  Prior to coming into rescue, his coat was in rough shape with matting and had to be shaved.  His coat is returning nicely and he looks remarkable compared to several months ago. Banks goes to doggie daycare and plays well with many other dogs. Banks will chill after a fair amount of play, and chew on antlers or bones.  Banks is from a breeder who was giving away a massive amount of dogs from his property and based on this, he was not well socialized,.  Banks is a little timid and shy, but learning SO MUCH.  He does seek out pets from his foster home and even gives a few kisses.  He also sleeps in the bed with other dogs and does VERY well being left out in the house.    Banks will do best with another outgoing, social dog in the home to take cues from.  Banks does require a physical fencing, preferred to be 6 foot.  Banks is even good with cats.  Little kids may scare Banks, so no children under 10 years of age is recommended for his adoptive home.   Banks is neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on all vaccines (including Lyme) and is receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  Proof of heartworm preventatives for all past and current pets is required to adopt from us.  If you have what it takes to help Banks blossom into the bestest boy, please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, see our adoption fees, and find a link to our adoption application.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org.   ##1850267##

Story
GEMMA IS BEING FOSTERED IN BLOOMINGTON IL This little snuggle bug's name is Gemma, and she is a precious gem who has MASTERED her puppy dog stare!  Our sweet Gemmy girl was found in a field as a stray, so not much is known about her history. What we have discovered so far in foster care is that she has a lot of playful energy and has a high prey-drive with smaller animals, therefore, a house without cats and smaller dogs is crucial for her to thrive. We have reason to believe that at one point or another, Gemma did have an owner as she knows some basic commands instinctively and is an expert fetch player! We have also learned that her favorite spot, undeniably, is against her person on the couch snuggled in for a movie night. She is an EXPERT cuddler and would love nothing more than to spend her evenings snuggled up next to her person on the couch. Gemma weighs around 45 lbs, and she is very active and playful. While she loves a warm night in, cuddled around her person, she equally loves a rousing game of fetch! Since Gemma is cautious with new people and places, this kind of exercise is ideal for her as well as short walks around the neighborhood. Gemma initially appears to be afraid of men, although it only took about a week before she started melting into her foster dad’s arms on a regular basis, and she now snuggles with him every night! She has met a handful of women in her house and even stayed the night with one of them, showing just how easily she does warm up and can fall in love! While it is not absolutely necessary that she be placed in a home without men, we would highly suggest that anyone who'd be present in her adoptive home utilize the time and patience to get to know her and earn her trust. Deli meat treats certainly help! Speaking of treats, it is important to know that Gemma has shown zero food aggression, and is perfectly fine taking treats from your hand once you have gained her trust, making training and confidence-building easier. We are looking for the perfect adopter who will not only be gentle and understanding with Gemma as she learns how to navigate life, but someone who will guide her, continue her training, and someone who will soak up all her hugs and kisses along the way! Because of our quirky girl's energy level, and her high prey drive, we recommend a home without kids under the age of 12. She is still learning certain manners, and as of now she can jump to around 3 or 4 ft in the air when trying to give a hug! Gemma is potty trained and crate trained, and she sleeps in her kennel at night. Her foster family believes she would be fine to be left out at night as she has not been destructive in the slightest, but crate training has given her a safe spot to go when she gets overwhelmed or overstimulated. Gemmy girl loves toys and bones and shares nicely with her four legged foster brother, Ernie. Fetch and chase are two of her favorite games to play. Walking on a leash / traveling in the car for long periods of time are still two very scary actions for sweet Gemma, so someone who is home more often than not and/or willing to work on her socialization skills/training is a must!  Ideally, her furever home would be calm and quiet as Gemma can become stressed when she sees other dogs at a distance, and she is very perceptive to all noises such as heavy machinery outside or other dogs in the area barking. Because of this, we recommend a home where there are not a lot of people coming and going at all times/other dogs barking around her. She is definitely an energetic, talkative gal (making lots of cute puppy groans and pleads for pets and lovin’) and would love a pup sibling or two if they were larger and ok with a spunky spitfire coming into their home!  Gemma's NEEDS A home without young kids/small animals A fenced-in yard to exercise freely A dedicated adopter(s) to continue training and socialization  All the kisses and cuddles one can offer Gemma's WANTS A larger pup sibling that is good with other dogs to play with A quieter home without much coming and going A spot on the couch next to her best friend for life! Gemma is spayed, microchipped and up-to-date on all shots and preventatives, she is a highly velcro Aussie who will follow her person anywhere, and she is a TOTAL lover. Are you the perfect match for her? If you are interested in Gemma becoming a part of your family, fill out an adoption application today at https://midwestaustralianshepherdrescue.org/home/adoption-application/ ##1823568##

Story
Cooper is being fostered in Griffith IN This STUNNING boy is Cooper!  He is a standard blue merle male Australian Shepherd.  Cooper weighs 41lbs and is on the smaller side of a standard.  He was a stray and came from Animal Control.  Our vet tells us he is about 1-2 years old.  Cooper has transitioned to home life perfectly! When he first came to us, he didn't know very much, but as you know, Aussies are SUPER smart so he has learned SO much about having good house manners.  Cooper is crate trained, potty trained and walks well on leash.  He gets a little excited on his walks when he sees friends: humans, other dogs, squirrels, etc. His foster mom has been training him on a gentle leader and he is doing well with this!  Cooper LOVES toys!  Stuffed toys, tugs and frisbee!  Cooper will need an assortment of toys in his forever home. His foster mom took him to an agility club to try him on some of the equipment and he picked it up quickly!  No surprise there!  He enjoys a challenge, learning new things and is highly food motivated.  Cooper likes to also play fetch, but he hasn't quite learned how to drop it yet, he would rather play chase me!  Cooper really enjoys playing with other dogs, so a doggie playmate would be nice but not needed for him.  Cooper is crated during the day while his foster parents are at work and does well when his people are away. Cooper is still very much an active pup that will need an active family.  Someone that will commit to a minimum of 2 hours a day with him.  We do ot recommend super young children with Cooper only because of his exhuberance, he might knock them over accidentally.  Cooper is a 7 on the 1-10 scale of activity.  While he could be a great jogging partner, agility partner, hiking anfd camping partner, he does have a nice off switch.   Cooper is still learning that vacuums, baths, nail trims, brushing are not scary.  He will need continued postiive desensitization to these things and they are a 2 man job in his foster home with lick mats while the other human does the grooming.   Cooper is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, negative for all tick borne diseases and taking monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworm.  If you are interested in this handsome boy, please complete an adoption application by clicking HERE ##1944129##
