Story
Will you be Mona's HERO??If you'd really like to RESCUE a dog and really make a huge difference consider a Mona. She is far from perfect but who's perfect anyway? She has such a gentle, kind spirit. She LOVES walks and car rides. She has some medical issues but they are totally manageable. They have prevented her from getting adopted. Don't let that stop you from adopting her!!Here's her back story:We agreed to take Mona in when she was only eight-weeks-old. She was a very sick little puppy. She had daily seizures and was completely incontinent. Since that time, many years ago, her epilepsy is managed well and the incontinence is almost completely gone. She only has occasional accidents overnight but we think that's more due to being stubborn about going outside to potty the last time at night, not because of incontinence. So making sure she goes outside to go potty around 10:00 p.m. would solve that likely. Her seizures are controlled with medication and the bladder surgery took care of her leaking mostly. She is on medication for the incontinence which really helps! For a dog who had a grim future it's truly amazing how far she's come. Now all we have to worry about with Mona is finding her the best possible family that can love her as she is...not quite perfect but so incredibly darling. A tenacious, independent, confident, mischievous, joyful and sensitive husky, that's our Mona. She is a bit protective when she's in her cage so we think a family with small kids wouldn't be right for her.Mona loves to play in water and would love a baby pool in her yard in the summertime. She loves walks so much and is both affectionate when she wants attention and aloof at times too, which is being what huskies can be! She loves the snow, her crate, and her nylabones. She is very smart and sensitive too.Mona co-exists with other dogs and can even play with another dog if they other dog is pushy about play but otherwise she lives without issue with other dogs. She is not good with cats or small critters. She lives with a family with a eight-year-old child. But she would be best in a family with kids over ten only because she can get a bit protective around her cage when she steals something and brings it into the cage with her. Yes, Mona can be naughty...but not too naughty'':)Mona is on medication for her seizures and incontinence. The total cost is roughly $100.00 a month. Because of her medications she needs quarterly blood tests. Additional medical expenses should be anticipated and money set aside just in case.A home visit will be required to adopt Mona so please only adoption applications within an hour of Libertyville, IL._________________________________________________________________________Adoption Donation for Mona is $ 425.00WANT TO MEET MonaThe first step would be for you to go to our website at www.aear.org and then to the “Adopting a Pet” page to read about our Adoption Process which will answer many of your questions and then to fill out an Adoption Application. Also, please visit our very active Facebook Page for updates on Mona and our other adoptable pets with AEAR - www.facebook.com/aear.orgAll our animals available for adoption are living in foster homes. George is a very sweet and loyal pooch to the ones he loves. He's slow to warm up to new people so his new owners will need to be understanding of that. He's been good with the dogs and cats in the foster home. Because he's shy we think it's best he go into an adult only home.George is snuggly and a fabulous lap warmer._________________________________________________________________________Adoption Donation for George is $ 525.00WANT TO MEET GeorgeThe first step would be for you to go to our website at www.aear.org and then to the “Adopting a Pet” page to read about our Adoption Process which will answer many of your questions and then to fill out an Adoption Application. Also, please visit our very active Facebook Page for updates on George and our other adoptable pets with AEAR - www.facebook.com/aear.orgAll our animals available for adoption are living in foster homes. Story
Macy is a 28-pound mixed breed dog with one blue eye and one brown eye! Her foster mom thinks she may have terrier and Australian cattle dog in her DNA. Macy likes to ''herd'' her foster mom on walks. When they aren't out on adventures, Macy follows her foster mom around like a shadow, plays with other dogs in the home and enjoys a variety of toys. She would thrive in a home that has another dog. While Macy is living a picture-perfect life in her foster home, she came from a horrible, abusive situation. When Macy arrived, she was scared and insecure. She is slowly coming out of her shell thanks to the love and devotion of her foster family. Many of us at AEAR have a special place in our hearts for this very special girl. She deserves the most amazing forever home. In return, she will be a loyal and loving companion._________________________________________________________________________Adoption Donation for Macy is $ 525.00WANT TO MEET MacyThe first step would be for you to go to our website at www.aear.org and then to the “Adopting a Pet” page to read about our Adoption Process which will answer many of your questions and then to fill out an Adoption Application. Also, please visit our very active Facebook Page for updates on Macy and our other adoptable pets with AEAR - www.facebook.com/aear.orgAll our animals available for adoption are living in foster homes. Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Everything is possible with a ''Little Bit'' of love! Our Little Bit is a senior who came to us with a large hernia. Our wonderful vet removed the hernia and spayed Little Bit. She is slowly warming up in her foster home. The way to Little Bit's heart is through treats. Little Bit needs a lot of patience and love. She is about 4 pounds which presents some challenges. Like many of us, Little Bit hates going out in the cold. She stands and shakes. She has arthritis and needs supplements and possibly daily medication. She also has to be carried up and down the stairs of her foster home. At 12-14 years old, she is too arthritic to climb. Little Bit is not housebroken and she doesn't care for pee pads unless she is confined to an area with them. Like many dogs her size, she finds strangers scary and often greets them with snaps and lunges. She can adjust to new people with time and patience. Little Bit currently lives with dogs and cats. Due to her small size, a home with small dogs would be best. She'd also be fine as an only pet. Little Bit's ideal home is quiet with family members who will carry her around and treat her like a baby._________________________________________________________________________Adoption Donation for Little bit is $ 525.00WANT TO MEET Little bitThe first step would be for you to go to our website at www.aear.org and then to the “Adopting a Pet” page to read about our Adoption Process which will answer many of your questions and then to fill out an Adoption Application. Also, please visit our very active Facebook Page for updates on Little bit and our other adoptable pets with AEAR - www.facebook.com/aear.orgAll our animals available for adoption are living in foster homes.
