Experienced handler needed for Theo, a 7½-year-old, 45-lb mixed breed who is fear-reactive toward strangers and unfamiliar dogs but has no bite history. He is house trained, crate trained, knows basic cues, enjoys walks and sniffing, and responds well to calm, structured handling. Theo needs an adult-only, only-pet home or behavior-focused foster

Anderson Humane is not responsible for any unsuccessful adoptions. She is an affectionate girl. She really is the perfect dog. She is protective and likes to be vocal out the windows to the neighbors walking by. She loves to lay on the couch with us and chill. She loves giving kisses and having her belly rubbed. She does go a little nutty when seeing lights on the walls and ceilings. She is a big girl who still acts like a puppy sometimes. She has never had an accident in the house. She will let you know when she needs to go. It breaks my heart to have to rehome her and we are not taking this well at all. She is our family and I only hope someone will want to give her an opportunity to be family to them. She has been soooooo loved. I hope to find a home to do the same.

I don’t really bring him around other dogs as the other dogs tend to try and bite him

She has been around children ages 6–10 and does great with them. She plays very well with other dogs but would do best in a home without cats. She loves going for walks and car rides and is always ready for an adventure! Sailor knows basic commands like sit and stay, and she is fully potty trained and crate trained. If you’re looking for a loyal, playful, and well-mannered companion, Sailor is your girl.

Story
Bradford is a 1-year and 8-month old mixed breed weighing 43 pounds, and this handsome boy is ready to charm his way right into your heart! With his sweet personality and gentle nature, Bradford is the kind of dog who’s happiest simply being close to his people. Whether he’s leaning in for pets or sitting faithfully by your side, he loves spending time with the humans he cares about most. One of Bradford’s favorite pastimes is watching the world go by from the window. He’s a curious boy who enjoys keeping an eye on everything happening outside, and it’s hard not to smile when you catch him happily observing his surroundings. He’s also incredibly smart and very food motivated, which makes training both fun and rewarding. Bring out the treats, and Bradford is ready to learn! This lovable boy has so much affection to give and would make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a sweet, loyal best friend. Bradford is ready to find a home where he can relax by the window, enjoy plenty of snacks and pets, and be loved like family. When I arrived at Anderson Animal Shelter from their partner shelter in Oklahoma, I tested positive for Heartworm. The staff believes that the best place for Heartworm positive dogs like me to be while going through treatments and recovering is with a loving and forever family like yours. If you choose to adopt me, the clinic staff will be with you every step of the way, answering questions and offering support. The process from detection to the final treatment is generally three months and involves some simple at-home steps to keep me safe while I recover. The last step in the process is a follow-up test six months after my treatment begins. The Heartworm treatment process is highly successful and the staff anticipates that I will fully recover! Yeah! And you should know that Heartworm can only be transmitted from animal to animal by mosquitoes. Stop in and meet Bradford in person during our adoption hours. For more information, email info@ahconnects.org or call us at 847-697-2880 x: 0, and the staff will be happy to help you. All of our dogs and puppies go home spayed or neutered, microchipped, and heartworm tested (for dogs 7 months and older). They are also up to date on core vaccines, as well as heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Each adoption includes a 3.5-pound bag of dog or puppy food and a free vet exam at one of our participating veterinary partners.
