Story
Maddie is the kind of dog who quietly steals your heart—and then naturally makes herself part of your life. Sweet, steady, and deeply affectionate, she has a calm confidence that makes her feel instantly familiar, like a dog you’ve known much longer than you have. At about five years old, Maddie is a medium-sized mixed breed with an extraordinary history of care and devotion. She arrived at Adoptable Friends with her eight puppies and was a patient, gentle, and unwaveringly attentive mother. She was a calm, nurturing presence for her litter, guiding them with ease and kindness. Maddie is incredibly people-oriented and greets life with an open heart. She doesn’t hesitate with strangers—she assumes they’re friends. She enjoys being part of daily life and is happiest when she’s included, whether that’s quiet time at home, walks through the neighborhood, or simply being near her people as the day unfolds. She would do best in a home that wants a true companion dog—one that includes her in everyday routines and sees her as part of the family, not just a pet on the sidelines. Maddie is adaptable, affectionate, and eager to connect, making her an easy fit for someone looking for a steady, loving presence in their home. Maddie is up to date on vaccinations and is spayed. Her adoption fee is $400. Maddie is ready for the kind of home where she can finally belong fully—not just as a rescue dog with a past, but as someone’s chosen companion moving forward. In return, she offers something simple and rare: steady love, quiet joy, and a dog who is truly happy just to be with you. Story
Biscoff is a sweet but very fearful girl who is still learning that the world can be a safe place. She came from a hoarding situation and is currently extremely skittish and shut down, but she is beginning to make small, steady progress each day. At this time, Biscoff spends most of her day resting quietly in a dog bed within her open pen. She prefers calm, low-activity environments and feels safest observing life from a distance. While she is very reserved with people, she does occasionally take comfort in following the other dogs in the home and being near them. Biscoff does have leash reactivity/aggression due to fear and is not yet comfortable with leash walking or structured handling. Her reactions are rooted in anxiety and overwhelm, and she will need continued patient, careful work at her pace before she can safely progress in this area. She does get along with other dogs and may benefit from a calm, confident canine companion to help her continue building trust and confidence. She is still very much a work in progress and will require a quiet, structured home with an adopter who understands fearful dogs and is committed to slow, steady rehabilitation. Despite her fear, Biscoff does show some encouraging signs. She will cautiously come forward for high-value treats and is gradually starting to show curiosity in very small moments. She is surprisingly not overly reactive to loud noises, but remains generally fearful of most new experiences. Biscoff will need significant time, patience, and understanding to continue decompressing from her past. She is not a quick turnaround dog, but with consistency and a safe environment, she has the potential to slowly begin building trust and confidence. For the right person, Biscoff will be a deeply rewarding journey—one that requires patience, compassion, and a willingness to let her move at her own pace as she learns the world is no longer a scary place.   Due to our participation in the Vernon Hills 4th of July Parade, there will be no adoption event on Saturday, July 4, 2026. Story
Camila is a sweet and spunky 2-year-old Chihuahua mix looking for a family to call her own. She's spayed, potty trained, walks nicely on a leash, and gets along well with both dogs and kids. As Camila has settled into foster care, her playful personality has really started to shine. We're seeing more of her fun, puppy-like side every day! She loves toys, tasty treats, zooming around the yard, and, of course, cuddling up with her favorite people. Camila can be a little nervous when meeting men for the first time, but with patience, kindness, and a few treats, she warms up and learns to trust. Once she feels safe, she's a loving and affectionate companion who enjoys being close to her people. She would thrive in a home looking for a fun playmate who can enjoy a game in the yard one minute and cuddle on the couch the next. While she loves attention and affection, she's also content entertaining herself with a toy when you're busy. If you're looking for a loyal little companion with the perfect mix of playful energy and cuddle-loving sweetness, Camila may be your girl!   Due to our participation in the Vernon Hills 4th of July Parade, there will be no adoption event on Saturday, July 4, 2026.
