Story
Maddie is the kind of dog who quietly steals your heart—and then makes herself right at home in it. At just about three years old, this medium-sized mixed breed has already proven what an extraordinary soul she is. Maddie arrived at Adoptable Friends with her eight puppies and immediately showed everyone what devotion looks like. She was a patient, gentle, and deeply attentive mama—teaching, nurturing, and guiding her pups with a joyful confidence that never wavered. Even now, as her puppies grow more independent, Maddie still keeps a loving eye on them, happy to share space, toys, and time. Her kindness runs deep. And then there’s her signature accessory: a tiny squeaky rubber pacifier that she proudly carries everywhere. We may never know why it’s *the* toy—but watching her trot around with it is guaranteed to make you smile. Maddie’s personality is something truly special. She is incredibly sweet, gentle-natured, and affectionate, paired with a confidence and resilience that suggests she’s ready for whatever comes next. She absolutely adores people and approaches life with an open heart—no strangers here, just friends she hasn’t met yet. She’s the kind of dog who wants to be in the middle of it all: family time, daily routines, weekend adventures, and cozy evenings alike. She would thrive in an active home that sees their dog as a true family member—one that’s excited to include her in life’s moments, big and small. Whether it’s a walk in the neighborhood, a bigger adventure, or simply being by your side, Maddie is all in. She’s eager, adaptable, and happiest when she’s with her people. Maddie is up-to-date on vaccinations and will be spayed prior to adoption. Her adoption fee is $400. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a gentle heart, a playful spirit, and so much love to give, Maddie may be exactly who you’ve been waiting for. Story
Duke is the kind of puppy who seems to have life all figured out—happy, easygoing, and just independent enough to keep things interesting. Often found doing his own thing while his siblings wrestle, he’s got a confident, curious streak paired with a goofy, lovable charm that makes him hard to forget. Don’t mistake his independence for aloofness—Duke is still an exceedingly social, people-loving pup who quickly wins hearts with his warm, friendly nature (and an incredibly endearing “smile”). He’s playful, engaging, and always up for whatever the day brings, whether that’s exploring the yard or hanging out with his humans. Duke would do especially well with an active home that appreciates a dog with a little confidence and personality of his own. With his resilience, intelligence, and natural curiosity, he has all the makings of a fun-loving, adventurous companion who will happily be your sidekick—and occasionally march to the beat of his own drum. Born around February 7, 2026, Duke and his siblings are happy, curious pups full of affection and classic puppy enthusiasm. Their mom, Maddie, is a medium-sized mixed-breed dog with a friendly, confident temperament and an especially warm disposition—traits we’re already seeing emerge in her puppies. While their father is unknown, we expect these pups to grow into medium-sized, active companions. Originally from a western Illinois shelter, they arrived at Adoptable Friends a few weeks ago and are now ready to find families of their own. They already show a preference for going to the bathroom outdoors, so with patience, consistency, and training, housetraining should come along nicely. Like all puppies, they will need dedicated adopters who can provide plenty of structure, training, and early socialization to help them build confidence and reach their full potential. These pups are lively, social, and expected to grow into active dogs who will thrive with regular exercise, enrichment, and time spent with their people. With the right guidance, they have all the makings of absolutely wonderful companions and adventure buddies. They are up to date on age-appropriate veterinary care and will be spayed or neutered prior to adoption. Their adoption fee is $500. If you are interested in adopting Duke, please fill out an application at: www.adoptablefriends.org/adopt

Story
Meet Orzo, a 3-year-old miniature poodle with a gentle soul and so much potential just waiting to shine. This sweet boy is crate trained and currently working on his potty training like a champ. Orzo gets along well with other dogs and would truly benefit from having a confident small canine companion in his forever home to help show him the ropes. Orzo came to us after being surrendered by his previous family where he was with many other dogs. He didn't have a lot of human interaction so he’s still learning that the world—and people—can be safe. Right now, he can be timid when approached, often dropping low or running away, but with time, patience, and love, he is beginning to trust his foster mom and show his true personality. One thing we already know? He absolutely loves to run and play outside, especially in a secure fenced yard where he feels free and happy. Additionally some mischieviousness is showing up now. Orzo is looking for a calm, patient, and understanding home that will give him the time and space he needs to build confidence at his own pace. A securely fenced yard is a must for this little guy, as it’s where he feels most comfortable and joyful. With the right family by his side, Orzo has all the potential to blossom into a loving and loyal companion.   *Please Note: Our adoption event on May 2nd will start at 1pm* Stop by our weekly adoption events on Saturdays from 12-4 pm at 372 Townline Road in Mundelein, IL 60060 to meet our adoptable animals in person. Story
Kellie is a gentle, sweet girl who is just beginning her journey of learning that the world can be a safe and loving place. She recently arrived from Kentucky and is still settling into her foster home, where her quiet, tender personality is starting to shine. Kellie would thrive in a calm, patient home with another confident and friendly dog who can show her the ropes and help build her confidence. She can be wary of men, loud sounds, and fast movements, and she may get skittish when she sees people while out on walks, often wanting to move away to feel safe. Because of this, she’s hoping for a quiet home with someone who can be around much of the time to help her continue to adjust at her own pace. While she’s still figuring out toys, Kellie already knows she loves cozy couch time and being close to her person. She also enjoys a good chew and relaxing near the people she trusts most. With patience, love, and a steady canine friend by her side, Kellie is sure to blossom into a devoted little companion.   *Please Note: Our adoption event on May 2nd will start at 1pm* Stop by our weekly adoption events on Saturdays from 12-4 pm at 372 Townline Road in Mundelein, IL 60060 to meet our adoptable animals in person. Story
Meet Fresno, a spunky little guy with a soft side waiting to shine! Fresno is about 3 years old and full of personality. He is crate trained and currently working on potty training (cold weather is definitely not his favorite!). Fresno is a sensitive soul who can be anxious and nervous in new situations and is slow to warm up, which may sometimes come across as being a bit nippy when he’s unsure. Because of this, Fresno will need a child-free home with someone who has prior dog experience and understands how to work patiently with dogs who need time, structure, and reassurance. With consistency, gentle guidance, and continued confidence-building, Fresno has great potential to grow into a more secure and trusting companion. Once Fresno feels safe and bonded, his sweet side comes out—he enjoys relaxing and napping with his people and truly values quiet companionship. He would do best in a calm, predictable home where his boundaries are respected and his progress is celebrated. If you’re an experienced, patient adopter looking for a dog who will form a deep bond and reward your efforts with trust and affection, Fresno could be the perfect fit.   *Please Note: Our adoption event on May 2nd will start at 1pm* Stop by our weekly adoption events on Saturdays from 12-4 pm at 372 Townline Road in Mundelein, IL 60060 to meet our adoptable animals in person.
