Story
Do you have room in your heart and your home for a gentleman who has already overcome so much and asks for so little in return?
My name is Jerry, named for a certain lovable government employee from a beloved television show, and I promise I live up to the comparison in the best possible way.
I came to C.A.R.E. as a stray with a very large growth on my foot. It was so big that surgery to remove it alone was not an option, and everyone worried it might be cancer. Before my leg surgery, the team took x-rays to check the rest of my body and to make sure my other leg could handle carrying me on its own. During that process, they discovered I had swallowed a bottle cap at some point in my life, so I had surgery to remove that. A few days later, my leg came off, and the biopsy came back benign. I also had a small mass removed from my neck along with a dental cleaning and a couple of extractions. I have been through a lot, and I have been a very good sport about every bit of it.
I am a creature of habit, and I love my routine more than almost anything. I am up early for a walk, I love being outside, and I have never once had an accident in the house, not even when I had that growth on my leg or when I was recovering from surgery. I walk well on a harness and leash, and while I would love to meet every single dog and person I see, I do best when introductions happen slowly and thoughtfully. I do not have an ounce of stranger danger in me. I get excited for guests, I love car rides with my head out the window, and people are always stopping to tell my person how cute I am.
I am quiet, easygoing, and content almost anywhere, whether that is at the office, on the couch, or riding along in the car. I love my toys, though I do best with the sturdy kind, and I am wonderful about having boots, coats, or scarves put on me without any fuss at all. The one thing I ask is a home where I do not need to be gated away from cats. I am endlessly curious about them, and while I only want to chase, I know that is not a safe game to play.
I have given my foster family so much joy, and I am ready to give that same joy to a family of my own for my senior years, in a home where I can simply be a happy, easy boy without complication.
