Bella is 4 years old she is very friendly and will do well with older kids, she is very loving. Loves sleeping, would recomment regular walks and a space where she can be like a backyard. She does well with bones and toys. She is a dog who has a lot of love to give and it is very energetic. Completely potty trained, know how to sit down and give you a paw. Bella would benefit by a very loving family who can take good care of her. She was adopted when she was a few moths old and we have had her since.

Story
Looking for a loyal companion who’s ready to love you with his whole heart? Hi there, I’m Leroy! I’ve been on my own for a while now, and honestly, I’m ready to find where I belong. The staff folks say I’m the “perfect size” – not too big, not too small, just right for snuggling on the couch or going on adventures together. I think they might be onto something. What I want most in this world is pretty simple: a person or family who will help me feel safe. I’ve had to be pretty tough out there on the streets, but deep down, I’m just a dog who wants to curl up next to someone and know that everything’s going to be okay. I dream about those quiet evenings where I can rest my head on your lap and finally let my guard down. The best part? I get along great with other dogs! So if you already have a pup at home, I’d love to be their new best friend. I know what it’s like to be alone, and I think having a buddy would make settling into my new life even better. I’m ready to trade my wandering days for a warm bed, regular meals, and all the love and snuggles you can give. Could you be the one I’ve been searching for? Love, Leroy

Story
Are You Ready to Be the Hero in My Happily Ever After? Hi, I'm Tundra, and I need to be honest with you right from the start—I've grown up here at CARE. This shelter has been my whole world for longer than any dog should have to wait. My siblings Glacier and Yukon? They found their forever homes and left. And I'm still here, watching, waiting, hoping that my person is out there somewhere. We came from Bastrop, Texas in pretty rough shape—Demodex mange, scared, not in good condition at all. But CARE brought us back to health, and now I'm this confident, energetic, incredibly smart husky who's ready to finally know what "home" feels like. Here's what I need you to know about me: I'm a lot of dog. I'm smart—like, really smart—which means I need mental stimulation and a person who understands huskies. I've got opinions, energy for days, and a personality that fills up whatever room I'm in. I need someone who's home a lot because I've waited long enough, and I don't want to spend my days alone anymore. I want to be WITH my person, doing life together. I'm looking for a husky person—someone who gets the breed, who can keep up with my energy, who knows how to channel all this intelligence and spirit into something positive. Someone who will take me on adventures, give me jobs to do, keep my mind engaged. I need structure, consistency, and someone who won't give up when I'm being my strong-willed self. But here's what I'll give you in return: I will love you with everything I have. I've been waiting so long for someone to call my own, and when I finally find you? You're getting all of me—my loyalty, my devotion, my goofy personality, my whole heart. I LOVE playing with other dogs, I'm absolutely obsessed with water (seriously, any puddle, pool, or sprinkler is fair game), and I'm currently in training classes learning my manners. I'm not going to pretend I'm easy. I'm a husky who's grown up in a shelter, and that comes with its challenges. But I'm also resilient, loving, and so ready to prove that I'm worth the commitment. So here's my question for you: Are you my person? Are you home enough? Do you understand huskies? Are you ready to give a girl who's waited way too long the life she deserves? Because I'm ready. I've been ready. I just need you to show up. —Tundra Still waiting. Still hoping. Still believing my person is out there.

Story
Meet Pluto Ever wonder what it’s like to find your purpose after wandering lost? I’m Pluto, and I’m ready to show the right family just how much love and loyalty I have to give. I came all the way from Tennessee, where I spent some time on my own as a stray. Those days are behind me now, and I’m focused on my future—one filled with walks, playtime, and a family who loves adventure as much as I do. I’m a pretty smart guy, if I do say so myself. I’ve been working hard on my commands, and I pick things up quickly when someone takes the time to teach me. I absolutely live for walks—the longer, the better—and I’d thrive with an active family who wants a companion for hikes, jogs, or just exploring the neighborhood together. When it’s time to unwind, you’ll find me with my favorite soft toy or chasing after a ball. There’s something about the simple joy of a good game of fetch that just makes my tail wag like crazy. I’m looking for a family who can match my energy and help me continue growing into the best dog I can be. If you’re ready for a smart, playful, and devoted companion who’s eager to leave his stray days behind, I just might be your perfect match. Tail wags Pluto

Story
Why does everyone assume I’m small? Sure, I’m a low rider and a chunky boy, but there’s more to me than my stature. A lot of people think I’m small when they first hear about me, but once they meet me, they realize I’ve got presence. Meet Hobbes! 🐾 I’m a smart, well-trained long-haired terrier mix who made my way from Austin, TX, to find my forever home here in Skokie! I already have a great foundation—I’m potty trained, crate trained, and know my basic commands. I’m food-motivated and eager to learn, which makes training both fun and rewarding for everyone involved. I’m an intelligent boy who thrives with structure, consistency, and clear boundaries. I enjoy staying active and do best in a home that can keep both my mind and body engaged. I’ve been working on impulse control through training and have shown great improvement. My Ideal Home: Calm, quieter household Adults only or older children Someone who enjoys training and building a strong bond with me Active lifestyle with plenty of mental enrichment I’m loyal, intelligent, and ready to shine with an experienced owner who can continue building on my excellent foundation. If you’re looking for a dog with great potential and a strong work ethic, I’m ready to meet I would love to come home with you today. Hobbes

Story
Are You Ready to Be Loved by a Dog Who Does Things Her Own Way? Hi, I'm Jammie, and I need to tell you something important right up front—I've been waiting for my home for a really long time. Too long. And I'm hoping maybe, just maybe, you're the person I've been waiting for. I'm 8 years old, but don't let that fool you—I'm young at heart with plenty of life left to live. And I'm ready to live it with someone who gets me. Here's the thing about me: I'm incredibly loving, but I have boundaries. I will absolutely adore you. I'll follow you everywhere—and I mean everywhere. Cooking? I'm there. Cleaning? Right behind you. Eating? I'm supervising. Bathroom? Yeah, I'm coming too. I want to be near you constantly because that's how much I care. But cuddles? Those aren't really my thing yet. I show my love by being your loyal shadow, your quiet companion, your ever-present friend. I'm not standoffish—I'm just a dog who loves on my own terms, and I need someone who respects that. What I absolutely live for: long morning walks (seriously, best part of my day), treats (I'm VERY food motivated—use this to your advantage!), and finding the perfect sunny spot to stretch out and soak up the warmth. I'm independent enough to entertain myself but devoted enough that you'll never feel alone. I need someone who understands that love doesn't always look like constant snuggling. Someone who appreciates a companion who's content just being in the same room. Someone who's home enough to take me on those walks I love and who won't rush me to be something I'm not. I've been waiting so long, and I really need a home soon. I'm not a puppy anymore, and every day I spend here is another day I'm not spending with my person. That could be you. So what do you say? Can you love a dog who'll be your shadow but needs her space? Because I promise I'll be the most devoted, loyal companion you could ask for—just in my own Jammie way. —Jammie
