Story
We sadly need to find a new home for our beloved dog, Winnie. Winnie is a forty-pound, six-year-old rescue pup with a wonderful personality. She spends most of her time cuddled in her dog bed or lounging in the sun with occasional bursts of playfulness. She is well-trained and eager to please the people she loves. Winnie is crate-trained, house-trained, and generally a very easy pet who has brought us so much joy. Unfortunately, Winnie has fear-based reactivity and has a bite history. The bites were not serious and did not draw blood, but did leave slight tooth marks on the skin. The last bite incident was in 2023. Since then, we have been able to manage Winnie's reactivity through training, gradual introductions to new people, and crating her when needed. We are only considering rehoming now that we're expecting our first child. We're seeking a child-free home with pet parents who are ready to manage Winnie's reactivity to new people in the home.

Story
Ever seen a scruffy guy transform when someone finally shows him kindness? Hi, I’m Fred! I used to wander the streets of Chicago all alone—just me against the world. When they found me, I was a tangled, matted mess. Nobody had taken care of me in who knows how long, and honestly, I’d learned that the world wasn’t always a safe place. But I’m working on that now. Every day, I’m learning that not all humans will let me down. It’s a process, you know? I’m building trust one gentle interaction at a time. What helps? Walks! I absolutely love going on walks—they make me feel free and happy. And once I know you’re one of the good ones, I turn into a total snuggle bug. There’s nothing better than curling up close to my person after I’ve learned they’re safe. I also love playing with my stuffies. They’re my treasures, and watching me toss them around, you’d never guess I spent so long just trying to survive. Here’s the thing though—I’d really prefer to be the only pet in the house. After everything I’ve been through, I need a home where I can have all the attention and patience to myself while I continue working on trusting this new life of mine. If you’re willing to give a guy like me a chance and help me finish my journey from scared stray to beloved companion, I promise I’ll be worth the wait.

Story
Foster to Adopt pending spay Hi, I’m Kate Spade! Ever heard of a puppy who arrived in style? I was found in a tote bag in Garland, Texas — and honestly, it suits me perfectly because I have always known I was meant for great things! At just 12 weeks old, I am already running the show. I have a group of brothers and I love nothing more than leading them around and keeping everyone in line. Confident? That’s my middle name. I know what I want, I know where I’m going, and I expect my brothers to keep up! I am also an incredibly quick learner. I am already doing great with both potty training and crate training, which means I am well on my way to being the perfect addition to any home. Did I mention my ears? They are absolutely fluffy and frankly, just another reason everyone falls in love with me the moment they meet me. I came from humble beginnings, but I have big dreams — and all I need is a family who is ready to match my energy, appreciate my leadership skills, and give me all the love I deserve. After all, every great leader needs a great home base. Could yours be mine?

Story
Looking for a Loyal Companion Who's Ready to Love You with His Whole Heart? Hi there, I'm Leroy! I've been out on my own for longer than I'd like to remember, and I'm so ready to find my forever home. The shelter staff tell me I'm the "perfect size"—not too big, not too small, just right for couch cuddles or exploring the neighborhood together. I have to agree with them! What I'm Hoping For: More than anything, I want someone who will help me feel safe and secure. Life on the streets taught me to be tough, but what I really want is to relax next to someone special and finally feel at peace. I picture quiet evenings where I can rest my head on your lap and know I'm home for good. A Bonus: I'm great with other dogs! If you already have a furry friend at home, I'd love to be their new companion. Having gone through tough times alone, I know how nice it is to have a buddy by your side. What I'm Offering: A grateful heart, unwavering loyalty, and all the affection you can handle. I'm done with my wandering days and ready for warm beds, regular meals, and a family to call my own. Could you be the one I've been waiting for? Love, Leroy

Story
Are You Ready to Be the Hero in My Happily Ever After? Hi, I'm Tundra, and I need to be honest with you right from the start—I just celebrated my first birthday here at CARE. That means I've spent my entire life in this shelter, waiting for someone to choose me. My siblings Glacier and Yukon? They found their forever homes months ago. And I'm still here, watching, waiting, hoping that my person is out there somewhere. We came from Bastrop, Texas as tiny puppies in pretty rough shape—Demodex mange, scared, not doing well at all. But CARE brought us back to health, and now I'm this confident, energetic, incredibly smart young husky who's ready to finally know what "home" feels like. Here's What I Need You to Know About Me: I'm a lot of dog in the best way possible. I'm smart—like, really smart—which means I need mental stimulation and a person who understands huskies. I've got energy for days, a playful spirit, and a personality that lights up every room. I need someone who's home a lot because I've waited long enough, and I don't want to spend my days alone anymore. I want to be WITH my person, doing life together. My Ideal Person: Understands the husky breed and can keep up with my energy Can channel my intelligence into positive activities and training Will take me on adventures and give me jobs to do Provides structure, consistency, and patience Is home enough to spend quality time with me What I'll Give You in Return: Everything. I will love you with my whole heart. I LOVE playing with other dogs, I'm absolutely obsessed with water (any puddle, pool, or sprinkler is my happy place), and I'm currently in training classes learning my manners. You're getting my loyalty, my devotion, my goofy personality, and a companion who will make every single day an adventure. I'm not going to pretend I'm easy—I'm a husky who's grown up in a shelter, and that comes with its challenges. But I'm also resilient, loving, and so ready to prove that I'm worth the commitment. So here's my question for you: Are you my person? Are you home enough? Do you understand huskies? Are you ready to give a girl who just turned one the life she deserves? Because I'm ready. I've been ready my whole life. I just need you to show up. —Tundra
