Story
Bentley is fostered in Pleasonton, KS. Meet Bentley.  Bentley was surrendered to us when his owner had some medical issues and was unable to continue caring for him.  Bentley came in a little under-socialized and slightly overweight but he has come A LONG WAY! Bentley's date of birth is 9/6/2022, he is a male neutered Australian Shepherd mix who weighs 50 lbs. Bentley is silly, funny, and a bit of a goofball!  His true personality started showing up and it makes him SO adorable!  We think Bentley needs a forever home with another dog, a fenced yard and someone who will meet him where he is in his socialization, be patient with him so he can settle in and build a bond/trust with them.  Once that trust is built, watch out! He will be his goofy silly self! Bentley loves it when his foster mom asks him questions, he does this cute head tilt and cocks his ears up like he is listening to every word she says!  He is SO smart! In his prior home before coming to rescue, Bentley spent great deal of time in his crate.  For this reason, he did not receive proper socialization. Socialization is something his foster home has diligently been working on with him.  She has been desensitizing him to many things, including leash walking, grooming, other dogs and other people.  Bentley previously experienced some fears in some area, but he really has put in a lot of work and he is making wonderful progress in all areas. Bentley is in a foster home with 4 legged canine fur siblings of various ages and sizes, and does well with them.  We are unsure about cats.   Bentley is more of a low-key guy who is looking for an adopter who enjoys the same type of lifestyle. He prefers a home where there are less comings and goings.  We also recommend a physically fenced yard and a home that is both patient and has no children under age 12, and a canine companion. would be ideal for this guy. Bentley is a talker. The more you talk to him, the more he expresses his feelings.  Bentley is what we term a "work in progress", but he is the type of dog that will quickly become your best friend once trust is gained between you.  Bentley needs a hero and a new best friend.  Is that you? Bentley is neutered, up-to-date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, microchipped and receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization.  For more information on our adoption process or to complete an adoption application, please visit our website at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org. NOTE:  All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers so we need an approved application on file to set up a meet with a dog you might have an interest in.  Please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application.  We pride ourselves on matches that work for both the dog and your family.  MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org ##2407689##

Story
Shadow Blue is fostered in Muscatine, IA Shadow Blue is a handsome 6-year-old blue merle male Australian Shepherd, weighing around 53 pounds, and his name couldn’t be more fitting. Shadow wants to be wherever his people are! He’s happiest when he can hang out in the same room with his humans and keep an eye on what’s going on. He is not a big-time cuddler and does not constantly demand attention, but he does seek out his people when he’s feeling nervous or when he needs to let you know it’s time to go outside. Shadow Blue is a more mellow, lower-energy guy who enjoys the simple things in life—being near his people, getting snacks, and taking a good nap.  He currently lives with four other dogs in his foster home and gets along well with all of them. When his foster sister gets the zoomies, Shadow sometimes likes to chase after her, so he does have a little bit of that classic Aussie herding instinct. He is very reliably house trained as long as he gets his morning trip outside first thing. Shadow knows sit, come, and down, and we think he may know shake, too. He loves snacks, although he can be a little picky about his meals.  Shadow will go into his kennel on command. He’ll happily let you know that he has some feelings about being in there, but he settles down and is improving with his kennel time. He’s also been pretty good for grooming, although he is sensitive about having his belly and rear brushed. He hasn’t been tested with cats or children, so we don’t want to make assumptions about how he would do with them.  (We were told his former owner had cats).  What we do know is that Shadow is a sweet, easy-going guy who likes having his people close by. He doesn’t need to be the center of attention—he just wants to be part of the family.  Shadow Blue is neutered, up-to-date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, microchipped and receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization.  For more information on our adoption process or to complete an adoption application, please visit our website at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org. Story
Sandi is being fostered in Ottumwa IA Introducing Sandi!  This little sweetie pie is a red bi female Australian Shepherd.  She is 36lbs and just a little thing!  Her date of birth is 3/29/2019.  At 7 years old, she is looking for a patient and loving home with another confident resident dog and a fenced yard.   Sandi came to us from an Amish farm in rural Iowa, because of that, she is a shy and timid and really still learning to be a dog; which is why she needs a confident resident dog to help show her to ropes and take cues from.  She is being fostered in a home but she gets to go to daycare everyday with her foster mom because her foster mom runs a doggie daycare.   Sandi would really like a home that will be patient with her and meet her where she is and move her foward maybe with some time to settle in and then some puppy classes, even tricks classes or nosework so she can gain some confidence.   Sandi is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, negative for all tick borne diseases and taking monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworm.  Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization.  For more information on our adoption process or to complete an adoption application, please visit our website at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org. Story
Finn is fostered in Hoffman Estates IL  Meet Finn! Looking for a sweet, affectionate sidekick with brains, personality, and plenty of love to give? Finn is a handsome almost 3-year-old Mini Aussie/Border Collie mix weighing about 26 pounds and this sweet boy is the perfect combination of playful companion and cuddle buddy. His date of birth is September 15, 2023. Finn may need a little time to warm up when meeting new people, but once he decides you're one of his people, get ready — he loves with his whole heart. He's a true Velcro pup who loves being near his humans, cuddling up and even handing out the sweetest Finn hugs.  Finn is house-trained, crate-trained and wonderfully well-mannered in the home. He's food- and toy-motivated, takes treats gently and is eager to please, making him a fun and highly trainable companion. This smart boy even comes with quite the résumé — basic obedience, nosework AND agility!  He would love a human that would continue doing some of these fun things with him.  Finn is SUPER smart and loves to learn!  He loves his daily walks and is great on leash, but one of Finn's very favorite things is having a canine buddy to play with. He's great with other dogs and LOVES to play, so we think Finn would absolutely thrive in a home with another playful pup who enjoys having a built-in best friend.  At the end of the day, Finn is looking for someone who will give him a little time to feel comfortable and then happily accept all the affection, loyalty and love this special boy has to give.  If you're looking for a smart, playful, cuddly little shadow to join your family, Finn might just be your guy.  FInn's MUST HAVES in his forever home: 1. A confident resident dog to be his friend and play pal.  2. A confident active human that understands his needs; positive intros with all new people. 3. A fenced yard for playtime with his 4 legged sibling. 4.  A dog savvy human; Finn is not a dog for a first time dog owner.   His people should be active, and have herding breed experience and confidence to meet the needs and continue the training he has started.  He would LOVE to be someone's sidekick and go places and do things with them.  He is very true to typical herding breed behaviors and loves to be with his humans, is smart as a whip, east to train, eager to please but can be reserved with new people. He is great with other dogs and even cats.  We recommend no young kids for Finn as they scare him.  Children over 14 and older would be ideal for him.  Finn is neutered, up-to-date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, microchipped and receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization.  For more information on our adoption process or to complete an adoption application, please visit our website at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org. Story
Barry is being fostered in Griffith, IN. Meet this handsome red bi boy! At 3 years old and 45 pounds, he’s the perfect mix of playful adventure buddy and loyal cuddle companion. He’s always happy, loves being around his people, and fully embraces the “Velcro Aussie” lifestyle — if you’re moving, he’s probably following right behind you. One of his favorite things in the world is playing with toys, especially durable balls. He loves and squeezes them so enthusiastically that regular balls don’t stand a chance for very long! He has a great energy level where he’s always ready for a game of fetch, but also understands when it’s time to settle down while his foster mom works or when it is time for bed. During the day, he’s content lounging nearby, keeping you company. He’s fully potty trained, has wonderful house manners, and can be left home alone without any issues. When you leave, he may give a few sad cries because he adores his people so much, but he quickly settles in for a nap. He rides beautifully in the car, happily jumps right into his crate for road trips, but also rides well loose in the vehicle. He’s incredibly affectionate and loves cuddling, belly rubs, and simply being close to his humans. He’s also very smart and eager to please. Because he’s highly treat motivated, training comes naturally to him. He already knows sit, spin, shake, lay down, leave it, and stay — and he’s continuing to improve his duration with stay every day. He enjoys walks around the neighborhood and does very well passing dogs behind fences or in homes. On busier walking paths, he can become excited when he sees other dogs and can’t go say hello, so he’s continuing to work on staying calm and quiet in those situations. While he enjoys having dog friends visit and can coexist well with other dogs, he would thrive most as the only dog in the home because he really loves having his toys all to himself. He’s looking for a home without children (or at least no children under 14) as the fast-paced energy and rough play style of kids can make him nervous and his herding instincts (a nip) kick in to try to stop the chaos. This sweet boy is deeply devoted, loving, and happiest when he’s part of his person’s everyday life. If you’re looking for a sidekick, best friend or loyal companion who will make you laugh, keep you company, and happily chase a ball for as long as you’ll throw it, he may be your perfect match.  If Barry sounds like the boy for you, please complete an adoption application today!!!!  Barry is neutered, up-to-date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, microchipped and receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization.  For more information on our adoption process or to complete an adoption application, please visit our website at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org. Story
Lilly is fostered in Delton, MI. This gorgeous girl was surrendered to us by her former owner, who needed some medical attention of his own and could no longer take care of her.  Out of love, he wanted to be sure to see her off on her next life.  Lilly is a black tri female Australian Shepherd, weighing about 50 lbs and is currently 3.5 years old. Lilly will make someone a wonderful companion.  She has excellent house manners.  She gets along with other dogs very well.  We are not sure about cats or young kids.  She has wonderful recall and is learning more basic commands in her foster home.  Lilly is a typical Velcro girl who enjoys her morning snuggles.  She enjoys car rides and is patient for grooming.   Lilly has been seen by a vet for a partial CCL tear and at this time, she does NOT require surgery.  However, she also will never be a dog sport gal.  She does well at the vet, although we do feel she will need to continue some joint supplements for this tear.  Lilly's ideal home is one that is less active, desiring companionship, and will NOT be doing any dog sports or high impact activities.  Lilly is a great dog who is sweet, happy and very smart.  She is looking for that special home.  Lilly is spayed, microchipped, up-to-date on all vaccinations and receiving monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworms. She does require a committed adopter who is willing to devote 1 - 2 hours of mental and physical stimulation per day. MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org ##2756945##
