Story
Meet Essa – A Sweet Soul from the Streets of Aruba Essa’s journey began on the streets of Aruba, but her story took a beautiful turn when we asked a local trapper to bring her to safety. No trap was needed—Essa walked right up, trusting and ready for a new beginning. Since July 3rd, Essa has been under veterinary care, receiving nutritious meals, love, and treatment for heartworm. At around 2 years old, she’s blossomed into a gentle, low-key girl who’s grateful for every bit of kindness she receives. Despite a tough start—her flat feet hint at poor nutrition as a puppy—Essa doesn’t let that slow her down. She greets each day with optimism and joy, winning hearts with her sweet nature. ? Why You’ll Love Essa: Super friendly and affectionate Gets along well with other dogs Cat-friendly (after proper introductions) Calm and easygoing Loves people and thrives on attention Essa has already received more love in the past two months than she likely ever knew before—and she returns it tenfold. She’s still undergoing heartworm treatment, but will be ready for adoption the first week of December. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a heart full of gratitude and love, Essa might just be your perfect match. ?

**This dog is located at our adoption partner location in Grand Blanc, Michigan Martin is a sweet, gentle pup with a resilient spirit. At just 5 months old, he’s already faced more than his fair share of challenges. During his vet exam, it was noted that Martin has an old injury to his right eye. Despite this, he remains calm and affectionate, showing the kind of heart that only a true survivor has. He’s learning to socialize and thrive in the company of others, and he would love a family who can give him the care and comfort he deserves. He may need removal of the damaged eye to ensure his long-term comfort and health. But don’t worry—dogs adapt incredibly well and live full, happy lives with one eye! Martin is ready to love and be loved. He’s looking for someone who sees past his injury and into his big, brave heart. Could that be you?

Story
We found Riko running with a pack of street dogs that did not really accept him in. He is definitely a Malinois, but the brindle coloring might suggest he has some Mastiff in the mix. He is long and tall, but not very heavy. Happiness for him is his person looking at him. That already activates the tail. When you start talking to him he start lifting his lips to smile and next level up is kisses when you rub his ears. We were a bit unsure, if we wanted to take on a Malinois as they are notorious for high energy and destructive nonsense. This boy is by far our favorite and if we had more room at home, we would keep this boy. He has good manners, does not need to be caged when left alone, has no accidents in the house and is just perfect. I can tell he is extremely thankful to have a soft bed and that he does not have to watch his back anymore. This is a dog that just wants to be near you, rest his head on your foot when you watch TV. He is great on walks and good with the other dogs here. The vet estimated him to be 5 years old. Then they changed it to 9, because his lower front teeth are missing. Street life is tough on these pups. The way he runs in the yard making sure the squirrels stay in the trees he is more like 5 year old. We will run an age DNA age test. Living on the street was not easy. He is heartworm positive, but does not show any symptoms and we started treatment for that two months ago. and he has no exercise restrictions. Medicine to complete the treatment will be provided by the rescue. You want a great, calm and stunning companion, come meet this boy. It's always great to adopt a dog out to a household with another dog, but he will be just as content alone with you. We try to adopt out within 40 miles of Elgin. Please visit Doggy Has Soul Sanctuary on FB to see more videos and photos. His adoption fee is $350 to offset the cost of flying him here,

Story
Tito may be young, but he’s already showing a lot of heart. This sweet pup came to the shelter a little unsure of the world—wide eyes, a tucked tail, and a nervous stance. But with gentle care and time in play groups, Tito has begun to open up beautifully. He greets other dogs with kindness and has even started engaging in playful interactions with a wagging tail and relaxed body. Tito enjoys affection from handlers and sometimes prefers to sit quietly in the shade, watching the world go by. He’s a gentle observer with a soft spirit, looking for a patient and loving home where he can continue to grow in confidence and joy. Tito will be transported to Elgin, IL in November and available for adoption.
