Story
Walter is fostered in Shelbyville, IL. Meet Walter!  He is a very distinguished middle-aged guy, between the ages of 6-8.  He is a standard sized black bi aussie. Walter loves his foster Mom, but would really, really love a family of his own!  He is a super well behaved boy and has great house manners.  He is house trained and crate trained, although, he doesn't require a crate because he doesn't get into much.  He does love playing ball and has a favorite squeaky pig. Walter is a truly good boy! He gets along with the other dogs in his foster home.  He has good manners, is very obedient and LOVES to play ball and play with his toy pig! He does not need crated, although he is trained to use it, when needed. He doesn't get into things that aren't his. Walter's biggest quirk is he does not like car rides or little children, as both make him very unsure and nervous. Doesn't Walter deserve to have a home where he can stay home and not be bothered by little, fast-moving screamers?   Walter would LOVE to have someone to continue to help him develop into his very best self. He has come a long way in his foster home.  He walks nice on a leash, but his foster family is still working on him refraining from barking at passing cars. He may like to have some doggie friends in his home, but slow introductions would be ideal.   Walter is an independent boy, who would love to follow his person around the house and sit next to your chair for a relaxing evening. Walter is a black bi Australian Shepherd. He weighs around 60 lbs. He is up to date on vaccines, microchipped, neutered and on monthly prevention for heartworm, fleas and ticks. If you feel like you'd like to be his number one, then please go to this website to apply.   www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org.   ##1419534##

Story
Boo Bear is fostered in Lansing, MI This handsome devil is the whole package!  While he is a bit older, he has a very young spirit and able to keep up with the young dogs at his foster home.  Boo Bear was previously left by his former owners when they moved.  The neighbor started caring for him and realized she had enough on her plate with her own dogs and kids.  With some digging, we found out he was adopted from an Illinois shelter at some point.  Boo Bear holds no grudges and just wants to find his new people. He is just over 50 pounds and a very spry 8 years old gorgeous male.   Boo Bear knows basic commands including sit, shake, stay, and a few other tricks that he is mastering.  Bear is VERY food motivated and learns quickly.  He knows no stranger and has fantastic social skills.  Boo Bear is a great traveler.  He is house trained and crate trained.  He is quite Velcro, as with most aussies, and he enjoys being with his people.  Boo Bear is great with other dogs in the home, but NO CATS!  Boo Bear finds kitties to be prey and unfortunately isn't nice to them.  He does, however, do great with little children, even as young as one.  Boo Bear is a gentle and kind soul and would make someone an excellent companion. Boo Bear is fully vetted, meaning he has been neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on all vaccinations and receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  Proof of heartworm prevention for any and all prior pets is required to adopt.   If you are interested in this gorgeous, well behaved dude, please visit our website for more information on our adoption process.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org   ##1786707##

Story
Charlie Bear is fostered in Rochester Hills, MI. Charlie Bear is looking for a retirement home!  This handsome guy lived outdoors with a lady who had to sell her home and move because of her own medical issues.  Sadly, Charlie had nowhere to land.  Charlie is now in a fabulous foster home, where he is learning to live the good life.  Charlie is a senior at 11 years old and approximately 30 lbs.  He is a little bit sun-bleached (and partially shaved) red tri male aussie with a tail.  His coat is recovering nicely.   Charlie has impeccable politeness.  He knows several commands:  sit, stay, shake, lay down and stay.  He walks excellent on a leash (no pulling) and is also crate trained, although he would prefer to be with you instead.  He is quiet once in his crate and has been sleeping in his crate at night.  He is house trained, but being an outdoor dog all his life, he does need to stay on a consistent schedule so this is solidified.   Charlie is a typical aussie who loves to be with his people.  He would be best in a physically fenced yard.  He has been doing well with the teenagers in his foster home, but a quieter environment might be best suited for this guy.  Charlie would LOVE to join you for a morning walk around the neighborhood and then settle in for some daytime television.  Charlie Bear is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped and receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  If you'd consider this sweet boy as a companion, you would be so rewarded in love and cuddles.  Please visit our website for more information on the adoption process and apply to adopt. www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org ##1786659##

Story
Tucker is being fostered in Dennison IL Meet Tucker!  This stunning black tri Mini American Shepherd AKA Mini Australian Shepherd weighs 43 lbs and is a total goofball.  He is very focused on being where the action is. Tucker's date of birth is 5/10/21. Tucker absolutely adores people and other dogs, he even tolerates cats.  At 43 lbs. he needs to lose about 5-10 lbs to be at his ideal weight and his foster mom is working on helping him slim down a bit.  He is SO sweet, gentle, loving and goofy that you can't help but fall for this hunk!   Tucker will alert bark and do his job as a guard dog but he expects his humans to take over from there.  He would rather nap than take on an intruder or whatever sound made him alert bark.  A casual stroll with occasional rounds of playfulness is just his speed.  These would of course be followed by naps with, near or ON his person.  He likes to snuggle up! Tucker rides well in the car and is good on leash. He has great house manners, is crate and potty trained.  Tucker came to rescue because his mom was elderly and needed medical care and could not care for him anymore.   In his forever home, Tucker would love another doggie friend to play with, a human he can snuggle with, a home with children over 10 or without children would be fine.  If he has a cat in his new home, it needs to be a cat this is dog savvy because he may want to chase.   Does Tucker sound like he is your speed?  Tucker is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, negative for all tick borne diseases and on monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworm.  If you are interested in this hunk, fill out an adoption application at https://midwestaustralianshepherdrescue.org/home/adoption-application/ ##1802023##

Max is being fostered in Dennison IL Meet Max!  Max is a 45lbs Mini American Shepherd AKA Mini Australian Shepherd.  He is a typical black tri boy and was born on 8/1/2021. This boy is an old soul in a young body.  He enjoys walks and occasional playful escapades, but his extra weight limits his endurance right now.  He is a person centered dog who is just learning how to be content with alone time.  Max's preferred location is resting near his people.  His heart is a big as his large boned frame.  He will never be a small mini but he certainly needs to lose about 10lbs to be healthy.  He is working on this in his foster home.  His ideal weight would be 35lbs. Max will alert bark to unusual things and sounds but is content to give control to the human in his life.  He is house trained, crate trained, curious about cats but has been sweet with them.  Max is as sweet as they come! Max rides well in the car and has good house manners.  Max came to rescue because his mom was elderly and had too many medical problems to be able to continue to care for him.  Max is looking for a home with children over 10 or even a home without children is fine, maybe another pup to play with but it isn't necessary.  He would LOVE someone with ALL of him and enjoy being their sidekick.   Max is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, negative for all tick borne diseases and on monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  If Max sounds like your newest family member, please fill out an adoption application today.   ##1802012##

Story
Finn is being fostered in Griffith IN.  Meet Finn.  This cutie is a whopping 20lbs. He is a red tri Mini American Shepherd, also known as a Mini Australian Shepherd.  His date of birth is 9/22/2022 so he will turn a year this month!  Finn is potty trained and crate trained.  He is a lower energy boy, probably a 5 on the 1-10 scale.  He aboslutely has puppy energy to burn off but once he has a good hour or so of exercise he is ready to to chill.  Finn is VERY happy to go with the flow and has adjusted perfectly to his foster parents' schedules.   He LOVES toys! He also will need a forever home with an over abundnace of dog toys because he likes them all, squeakers, balls, bones, tugs, chews, etc.  He really enjoys having options of different toys to choose from.  Finn would probably really like a doggie friend to play with in his forever home, but he will need a slow introduction because he will be scared at first.  Once he knows the other dog won't hurt him, he will engage in play.  He loves to play with his canine friends that he has met while in foster care.  We do not think the other dog in the home should be super alpha though; he is delicate and a little shy so his forever people need to be patient and gentle with him while giving him guidance, structure, training and positive reinforcement ONLY.   Finn came to us from a home where his parents were an older couple and his daddy got sick with the C word.  His mom was caring for his dad and didn't have time to socialize him with the outside world.  He is GREAT with his people, but new people are a bit scary.  Finn is great on walks in the neighborhood, hiking on trails and generally good on leash.  When he gets scared, he will bark.  Barking is his sign that he is scared of something and needs reassurance from his humans and sometimes gets picked up and held.  It makes him feel safe again.   When Finn is on a walk and a neighbor approaches to chat with his foster parents, he will sometimes bark, but if they ignore him and the humans continue to chat, he settles and realizes that they aren't so scary.  The perfect home for Finn would be someone that would NOT want to take him everywhere they go.  He is very happy being at home with his people and not having a TON of people over.  Finn needs SLOW and gentle continued training socializing with new people.  Classes like nosework, barn hunt, agility would be EXCELLENT for this boy to gain confidence and become a regular boy.   Finn's needs: a physically fenced yard.  An adopter that will be patient, loving and use only positive refinforcement. A quieter home with not a ton of comings and goings. No children under 14.  Finn's wants: another confident resident dog that is playful.  An owner that would consider taking him to classes to build his self confidence.   Finn is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, negative for all tick borne diseases and on monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworm.  If Finn sounds like your boy, please fill out an adoption application today @ https://midwestaustralianshepherdrescue.org/home/adoption-application/ ##1743966##
