Hello potential adopters! We would like you to meet our incredibly special girl, Willow! Not a special needs dog physically (she is healthy), but rather in the sense that she will require a patient, loving, compassionate adopter! *** PLEASE READ HER ENTIRE BIO BEFORE APPLYING AS SHE IS GOING TO NEED A VERY DOG SAVVY, EXPERIENCED ADOPTER ***
Willow is a beautiful red merle toy-sized aussie with a tail! We do not know her birthdate, but she is about 2-3 years old. She weighs in at a whopping….15 lbs.! Why is Willow special to us? Willow was rescued from a hoarding situation and was lacking in socialization skills on know how to be a dog. She will need a forever home that is quiet and someone who understands this and is willing to give her the time she needs to adjust, trust, become more confident, and feel safe in her new home.
Since Willow came into foster in May 2024 she has made a lot of progress. She will need a family willing to continue the progress she has made. She has learned and continues to learn that life is good, people are good, learning is fun, and good things happen. If her new family is willing to continue showing her new things, teaching her new things, and reinforcing the things she has already learned you will get one helluva good girl! Willow is learning to trust, and she will approach people, but she does take a while to warm up to them.
Willow had to learn to potty outside and she is doing great with this. Willow is crate trained but prefers to be out with the other dogs and humans. She gets fed in her crate to create positive associations with it and she is doing well. She barks when excited but not excessively. She is still learning about leashes and leash etiquette but is making progress. Willow lives with other dogs and does well with them. A laid-back, social dog is what she prefers. She will need a physically fenced yard and having a safe place for her to romp and play (especially with you) will help in your bonding. She will also need a home without younger children. Â
Willow is a smart little cookie and learns quickly. She just needs that initial time to adjust. She is looking for a home that is quiet, willing to go at her pace, and will give her the opportunity to become a member of the family. Willow WILL only be adopted to a home with someone with experience in under-socialized dogs, a quiet environment and someone who has time to continue the work that her foster home has been doing with her. Â
