Story
Nova is a 6 year old red and white malamute that came in with Sequoia and Luna. Sequoia seems particularly bonded to her. While these three do very well with each other, they have displayed some dislike toward other dogs of both sexes, especially when they are together a pack. Nova is a very tall girl and presents herself as the reserved lady of the the three, putting up with their shenanigans and maintaining her dignity. Her clown comes out every so often. Story
Poor Harvey. He was left alone when his jerk of an owner moved. Lucky Harvey. A friend rescued him and took him in. He was fearful at first about being left alone, but got over that in about a week. Harvey is a great dog. Our vet staff loved him right away. According to his foster mom, he is housebroken, not an inappropriate barker, and sleeps through the night in a dog bed. He goes out on a walk daily and is good on a leash. He got along with the resident dog instantly and allows the resident dog to be the leader. He likes having another dog around. We think it makes him feel safe. His foster mom reports that he is a very easy dog to take care of. He would be the perfect dog for a senior person looking for a low maintenance dog. Unfortunately, his prior owner didn't leave any information about his prior medical history. He has had a very thorough exam by our vet and was found to have an ear infection which has now been treated. His teeth were a mess and he has now had a thorough dental cleaning and one extraction. His pre-op blood work shows everything normal. He has a little arthritis in his back knees on x-ray, but he has no outward symptoms of pain or lameness. Harvey weighs in at 59 pounds. Our vet's best guess, and also according to the friend that rescued him, Harvey is 7 to 8 years old. So there is a lot of life left in this guy! We think he is a cattle dog and shepherd mix, though he looks more like a cattle dog in his photos but he looks more like a shepherd in person. He has a cute "one-ear-up-and-one-ear-down" pose that you will often find him in. If you think you're the one to give Harvey a nice home and family for this next chapter of his life, he is ready to meet you! Harvey's adoption fee of $295 includes: Vet exam, 4DX heartworm-lyme test, Chemistry and CBC blood panels, rear leg x-rays, dental cleaning, Bordetella vaccine, DHPP (distemper combo) vaccine, Rabies vaccine, deworming, microchip, heartworm preventative, flea/tick preventative, and he is neutered. This guy is ready to go!

Story
Rocky and Hunter found themselves dumped in rural Minnesota, where thankfully, a Good Sam stepped in and took them in. Tried for months to locate owners, and none could be found (dogs were not chipped) and so they came to IAMRA. Both Rocky and Hunter absolutely love humans and can’t get enough attention. Rocky is an absolute goof ball who will walk himself on lead and has the cutest overbite. He has settled a lot in group and is finding success navigating the yard with our other dogs. Hunter is a little more dog selective, but it learning to be comfortable around more dogs and has shifted from serious to a softer self. Hunter when he wants attention will do adorable nibbles almost grooming his human to get some attention! Hunter and Rocky have made a big change of environment and are still adjusting to the urban area. The trainers at Zen Dogs are working with them everyday to adjust to this change and are finding success with the use of food and some fun! Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Meet Sweet Lilly!Sweet Lilly is an adult, 55-lb. mix with a beautiful brindle coat. She has a lot going for her! She has an energy level many would consider ideal: she is calm and laid back in a home but still enjoys a romp in the yard (a fenced yard is required for her), playing fetch, or a forest preserve walk. Sweet Lilly already knows commands and is fully house-trained. She doesn't have accidents, is not a barker, and is not destructive when you leave her loose. Sweet Lily enjoys car rides. She would like to be the one and only dog in your home, but she does not act up if she sees another dog and has done well on pack walks. What makes Sweet Lilly a dog that is not for everyone is that once she settles in at a home, she becomes protective of things she considers "hers," including toys, beds, and people. Although she has never hurt anyone, Lilly needs an adults-only home for this reason. Sweet Lilly comes with free in-home training and ongoing support to ensure that her people know how to handle her proclivity for resource guarding. We are certain that Lilly can and will thrive in the right home, with the right support, and will make a wonderful companion. Adoption fee is $320Email: fosteradog@almosthomefoundation.netAlmost Home Foundation's adoption requirements:Be at least 21 years of age;Have the consent of all adults living in the household;Have approval from the residence owner;Have valid ID with current address;Be approved by Almost Home Foundation as a suitable adoptive home and live in the suburbs surrounding Schaumburg. Brody

Shepherd (Unknown Type) Labrador Retriever

Elk Grove Village, IL

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
As a pup Brody and his siblings were found running in an abandoned parking lot, where they were abandoned. He had worms and was covered in fleas and ticks. Luckily at AHF his foster family was able to nurse him back to health and give him a fresh start in life. His foster family fell in love and adopted him, but as his health and energy improved he unfortunately became too much for the established senior dog in the home. The increasing conflict wasn't fair to either of the dogs, so in order to give Brody the best chance at a happy life the difficult decision was made to allow Brody to find a more suitable forever home. Brody is a big boy and very high energy. Brody loves to play with everything and anything and had yet to find a toy he cannot conquer. He needs some training to learn what is acceptable to play with and what is not. One of his favorite things is Himalayan cheese chews! These last him at least a few days. Brody also loves ice cubes! He enjoys running and jumping, playing catch, looking out the window, car rides, and just enjoying life. While he is not a huge snuggle bug, he does occasionally like to snuggle up close to his people.Brody has not spent a lot of work on leash and still needs some work in that area. He is crate trained. The ideal home for him would be with an active and experienced owner. He would enjoy being an only dog or with an equal energy dog. A fenced yard would be recommended due to his energy level. It's unknown if Brody is tolerant to cats. He would do best with older children. Adoption fee is $320Email: dogs@almosthomefoundation.orgAlmost Home Foundation's adoption requirements:(1) Be at least 21 years of age;(2) Have the consent of all adults living in the household;(3) Have approval from the residence owner;(4) Have valid ID with current address;(5) Be approved by Almost Home Foundation as a suitable adoptive home; and(6) Live in the suburbs surrounding Schaumburg (Illinois Residents only)*** Please note that Almost Home Foundation accepts only cash or checks for adoption fees; we do not accept debit or credit cards. ***
