Story
Click here for Bourbon's Facebook Album April 2026: Bourbon is a very handsome Orange and White English Setter- not a Golden Retriever but he is big and fuzzy and friendly like one. He is an owner surrender and originally came from a breeder in Kentucky. Sadly his owner passed away and he wound up in a kennel because the older widow couldn't handle him. He was loved on and is a very sweet dog and is getting along with the dogs in his temporary foster home. He is deaf- but he is very attentive and affectionate. We are looking for a pet home in the Chicago area that has a safe fenced in yard for obvious reasons. Deaf dogs can learn hand signals and Boubon is food motivated so that will help with his training. He is doing well with cage training but will need work on house manners and house training. No kitties as he is too interested. We are doing blood work the week of April 27th as tick born disease is a huge problem in Setters and can cause deafness if transmitted from mom to pup. We'll know soon, but he seems to be responding to proactive antibiotics already. If you would like to help, please click HERE to submit a foster to adopt home application. Markus and Melvin's Facebook Photo Album: https://www.facebook.com/media/set?set=a.1159748329529604&type=3 (copy and paste into your browser). 8-12-2025: The boys have been in doggie day care/ boarding for a couple of weeks are are doing great!! They are warming up to the staff at Tail Gate for Dogs and having a blast playing with all their new friends. We have decided that the boys can move into separate homes but there needs to be a playful dog buddy in their new foster to adopt home. They are doing great with our heartworm slow-kill program and we are hopeful they will be negative by the end of the year. The great part about our program is there is no exercise restriction so they can play and take walks. 7-13-2025: The boys have been in doggie day care/ boarding for a couple of weeks are are doing great!! They are warming up to the staff at Tail Gate for Dogs and having a blast playing with all their new friends. We would love to move them into a foster home, however, with a loving, caring patient family to help them get ready for their forever home. 6-21-2025: Marky and Melvin are youngish Beagle brothers we saved from an over-crowded shelter in Memphis, TN. Sadly both boys have heartworms and both have a grade 2/6 heart murmur that we hope will improve the longer they are in our heartworm slow-kill program. My guess is they are about 2 years old and have not suffered too much kindness from humans as they are timid and a little feral-- but there is hope. They are great with other dogs and cat safe. I have seen them fight with each other, but for the most part, they are a pair. We need a loving, patient foster to help them learn that most people are kind. Marky- the bigger one is a little more open to pets and cuddles. I found that both boys liked hot dogs and food is going to be a huge part of their recovery. We will be doing blood work soon, but I can just about guarantee that they both have at least Lyme disease that may be causing the heart murmurs. We are treating them as if they are infected as part of our heartworm slow-kill protocol anyways. We will also be adding some good supplements to help their heart and bodies heal. If you are interested in fostering, our application is at helpibr.org If you would like to help sponsor their care, we have PayPal at www.illinoisbirddogrescue.org VENMO with @illinoisbirddogrescue and ZELLE with info@illinoisbirddogrescue.org

Story
Emma's Family GOFUNDMEEmma's Family Facebook Page Ella was born on April 7th to the cutest most amazing Beagle we rescued from a shelter in Central, Illinois. We are not sure who the daddy is but we do plan to DNA test when they are 6 weeks old and hope to get an idea. The puppies are doing great, growing like weeks and their mamma Emma is playing with them and their foster mom and friends are handling. They will be confident little pups when it is time for them to move to their new families. We are only looking for Foster to Adopt in the Chicaqo area. As Beagles are very social dogs, it would be ideal if the puppies find homes with other friendly confident dogs. I can go over our Foster to Adopt protocols once and application is in. They should be ready to move to their new families after their first vaccination the first week in June. If you would like to help, please click HERE to submit a foster to adopt home application. Story
Click here for Arnold's Facebook Album May 2026: Arnold has waited and waited for over 10 months to get out of boarding to find a foster home. All he needs is a little time and patience to adjust to family life. We really need your help!!! DNA results are in and Arnold and Dempster are 86% Beagle with another 6% Bassett and Labrador. They do have longer bodies like a Bassett Hound but sound all Beagle. Arnold, Dempster and Queenie as seen in their original Memphis, TN shelter video: https://youtube.com/shorts/FdASOSHTyP4?feature=share were dumped by family members after their owner died. All 3 tested positive for heartworms and all surely have tick borne disease and I can only imagine how bad Queenie's teeth are. They are all now safe in the Chicago area after a transport out of Memphis on 9-26. These 3 dogs have suffered some neglect besides their health care neglect, but with some time and patience they will learn to trust humans. Queenie has moved to her own foster. Arnold and Dempster just need a lot of human interaction and cuddles to help build their confidence. They are great with other dogs so a foster with confident well socialized dogs in the home will help them adjust to kindness. We need some exceptional fosters or foster to adopt homes that will help with their heartworm slow kill treatment plan. If you can help a frightened, neglected Beagle over come some serious neglect and learn to trust humans again, please PM me.
