Story
Meet Geeno (a.k.a. Grandpa Gee) - Big in Size, Bigger in Heart.Geeno is an extra-large, extra-special senior Great Dane with a heart as grand as his paws. After being found scavenging through neighborhood trash cans just to survive, this gentle giant landed in animal control-emaciated, exhausted, and in need of some serious TLC. At just 113 pounds when he arrived, Geeno has now worked his way back to a healthy weight of 145 pounds. Geeno is missing one eye, likely due to an old injury, but it`s fully healed and causes him no discomfort. He has some skin tags (typical for a dog his age!), and the ones that needed attention have already been removed. He`s also been neutered and had a full dental, so he`s feeling fresh and fabulous!Currently living with two other dogs in his foster home, Geeno does well with slow introductions, but deep down, he`d love nothing more than to be your one and only. He`s a classic Velcro dog-loyal, loving, and never far from your side. If you`ve got love to give, Geeno wants it all. Though he`s a senior, Geeno still has plenty of pep in his step! A fenced-in yard is a must, as he enjoys stretching those long legs and trotting around like the majestic boy he is. That said, a home with no stairs is ideal, as his back legs are beginning to show signs of age, and we want to keep him comfortable as long as possible. He will need to stay on Gabapentin for life (at the adopter`s expense) to support his mobility.Geeno is house-trained, crate-trained, and a perfect passenger in the car. He`s a total lovebug who will happily settle into your lap (yes, all of him), snuggle up in your bed, and make himself right at home.If you`re ready to open your heart to a gentle soul who`s been through a lot and still has so much love to give, Geeno is waiting for you. Help us give this beautiful boy the retirement home he so deeply deserves. Apply today to meet Geeno-- your loyal companion in a giant, lovable package.Adoption fee is $140Email: kristym@almosthomefoundation.netAlmost Home Foundation`s adoption requirements:1) Be at least 21 years of age2) Have the consent of all adults living in the household3) Have approval from the residence owner4) Have valid ID with current address5) Be approved by Almost Home Foundation as a suitable adoptive home6) Live in the suburbs surrounding Schaumburg (Illinois Residents only)*** Please note that Almost Home Foundation accepts o

Story
You may have heard Yale’s medical story—he’s been through more than most dogs ever should. And yet, here he is, stronger than ever, with a quiet resilience and a heart full of hope. We’re so grateful he’s here to tell us more, and now, he’s ready for his next chapter. Yale is available for foster or foster-to-adopt as he searches for the perfect match.Yale is a handsome adult Husky/Shepherd mix with soulful eyes and a calm, steady presence. After a tough start in life, he’s looking for a calm, peaceful home where he can finally relax and just be him. This sun-loving guy is happiest when he`s lounging outside, soaking up rays, and watching the world go by. He’s great on a leash and enjoys relaxed walks at his own pace. At home, Yale is low-maintenance and independent—he doesn’t need much more than a comfy spot, a soft stuffed animal, and someone who understands him.Yale is potty trained, though he’s polite and quiet about it. Keep an eye out for his cues—he’ll head to the door and circle when he needs to go out. He’s also crate trained; while it’s not his favorite place, he handles it calmly and without complaint. He’s currently going through professional training (primarily due to some protective behaviors shown commonly with his breed), and we want him to keep building on those skills as he thrives with structure, consistency, and a confident handler who can reinforce what he’s currently learned/learning. His future foster or adopter should be committed to continuing training and his adoption will include free in-home training sessions to set both him and his humans up for success. Yale will do best as the only pet in the home and in a household without young children. He’s a great match for experienced, dog-savvy owners who can appreciate his quiet nature and give him the steady, understanding environment he deserves.Yale has already overcome so much. Now, he’s just waiting for someone to give him the peaceful, loving home he’s always deserved. Please fill out a no-obligation application today if you feel you can provide a temporary or forever home for sweet and handsome boy, Yale. Please email his Placement Coordinator, Kristy, with any questions: Kristym@almosthomefoundation.netAdoption fee is $360Almost Home Foundation`s adoption requirements: ?1) Be at least 21 years of age2) Have the consent of all adults living in the household3) Have approval from the residence owner

Story
Hi Everyone! My name is Syrah and I am a young Shepherd mix, with a heart of gold. What can I say? I have tons of love to give! I am told that for a puppy I’m learning everything very quickly….potty-training, simple commands, fetching the ball and crate training, to name a few. I am a pup that is naturally loyal. I will thrive in a dog-savvy home that can offer me consistent guidance to help me build my confidence. I am dog-friendly and can live with a canine companion, as long as my protective behavior is carefully managed. Because I am still learning, my adopters should know that I come with 6 months of free training classes, and two in-home sessions with a personal trainer. This will ensure that I am set up for success! I am also going to do well as being the only dog in the home, as long a there are people around to give me the love and attention I need and deserve. I would be more comfortable in a home with no younger children, for now. I’m still learning a lot of things and need that calm, understanding environment to feel secure. Don’t get me wrong, I’m just “full of personality”. I’m a devoted and affectionate pup, just waiting to give my heart to my new family. Fun facts: I love watching Bluey on the TV when it’s time to go in my safe place (my crate) to relax or eat. My favorite snack is ice cubes! If you think you are a good fit that can love and support my puppy ways, please fill out an application! I will entertain you non-stop and also bond in a way you’ve never known before! I’m anxious to meet you and move into my forever home.Adoption fee is $360Email: dogs@almosthomefoundation.orgAlmost Home Foundation`s adoption requirements:1) Be at least 21 years of age;2) Have the consent of all adults living in the household;3) Have approval from the residence owner;4) Have valid ID with current address;5) Be approved by Almost Home Foundation as a suitable adoptive home6) Live in the suburbs surrounding Schaumburg (Illinois Residents only)*** Please note that Almost Home Foundation accepts only cash, Zelle, or checks for adoption fees; we do not accept debit or credit cards. ***

Story
Miss Grace (grace) was found as a stray locally. She`s a young adult and weighs 11 lbs. Breed???She has Shih-tzu hair so she will need a regular grooming. She`s really soft. Grace has never met a stranger. She loves everyone human or dogs. She`s all about play and has a lot of energy. She loves toys and will play with any dog. Unfortunately she is unaware some dogs may not like her. She always wants her foster brothers to play and may be a little pesty. She would love a human kid to run around with but would probably be a trip hazard for someone not so steady on their feet. We are working on not walking between my feet or waiting to go down the stairs. She may have tripped me a time or two. She so quiet sometimes you don`t realize she`s there.Grace doesn`t mind being touched on her feet or face or even her tail. Now if you put your face close to her you are going to get licked... Grace is housebroken and walks ok on a leash. She just needs a little work on not pulling. She sleeps in bed with her human sister but is crated when no one is home. She`s still very puppy. I haven`t heard her bark yet. She doesn`t bark when my own dogs go crazy because someone has the nerve to walk by the yard. She just gets excited hoping they will come pet her. This is a Pay It Forward dog. This means the adoption donation of $650 will help to save another pup needing rescue and vetting. If you are interested in this dog, please complete an adoption application.Email: dogs@almosthomefoundation.orgAlmost Home Foundation`s adoption requirements:(1) Be at least 21 years of age;(2) Have the consent of all adults living in the household;(3) Have approval from the residence owner;(4) Have valid ID with current address;(5) Be approved by Almost Home Foundation as a suitable adoptive home; and`(6) Live in the suburbs surrounding Schaumburg (Illinois Residents only)*** Please note that Almost Home Foundation accepts only cash, Zelle, or checks for adoption fees; we do not accept debit or credit cards. ***

Story
Puppy breath, soft fur, a round belly, big innocent eyes and lots of puppy kisses- this is what I have to offer. I just joined the Almost Home Foundation family and am now in a foster home waiting for my forever family. Puppies are a bit like babies…we are cute and adorable, but we require a lot of work and attention. We need help with socialization and housebreaking and should not be left alone for too long, as this could cause social and dysfunctional problems later on. Do you think you are the right person to take on the job? Then come meet me at the next adoption show or email AHF.The adoption fee is $555 which includes deworming, microchipping, 3 sets of puppy shots, rabies and neuter when old enough. After his/her neuter, you will get a $55 refund.Email: puppies@almosthomefoundation.orgAlmost Home Foundation`s adoption requirements:(1) Be at least 21 years of age;(2) Have the consent of all adults living in the household;(3) Have approval from the residence owner;(4) Have valid ID with current address;(5) Be approved by Almost Home Foundation as a suitable adoptive home; and(6) Live in the suburbs surrounding Schaumburg (Illinois Residents only)*** Please note that Almost Home Foundation accepts only cash, Zelle, or checks for adoption fees; we do not accept debit or credit cards. ***

Story
Hi Everyone! My name is Agatha Christie and I am an adorable pup with the most adorable, squishy face. In the beginning I was very shy, but after a couple weeks with my foster mom, I get all excited when I see her now and get crazy butt wiggles and my tail wags uncontrollably. My nickname is Aggy and I must say that I have always been great with kids. I also love being around other dogs. I bonded immediately with my four-legged foster sister. I love running around in the back yard and I`ve been told that I am super-fast! I picked up on potty-training quickly. I do like my crate and I`m also a great sleeper. I`m a sucker for `baby-talk` and most of the time will go to my foster mom when she calls me. She thinks I`m a real sweetheart, and I love her too, but would REALLY like to find my forever home. Could that be you?Adoption fee is $360Email: dogs@almosthomefoundation.orgAlmost Home Foundation`s adoption requirements:(1) Be at least 21 years of age;(2) Have the consent of all adults living in the household;(3) Have approval from the residence owner;(4) Have valid ID with current address;(5) Be approved by Almost Home Foundation as a suitable adoptive home; and`(6) Live in the suburbs surrounding Schaumburg (Illinois Residents only)*** Please note that Almost Home Foundation accepts only cash, Zelle, or checks for adoption fees; we do not accept debit or credit cards. ***
