Story
Max is about 5 y/o & has been in our household since January 2022 when I captured him & his sister as strays. Probably abandoned. He gets along great with kids,is very playful but not over energetic. He behaved well w/ 2 other dogs for 2 years but lately has been attacked by one dog.He may be apprehensive now with other dogs.He is a relentless hunter of mice, chipmunks & anything else that moves.A fenced in yard is highly recommended He will hunt all day & follow his nose if he's on a scent. He keeps my shop clear of all rodents. We fostered him when we rehabilitated him but decided to keep him 4 years ago because our entire family adores him.Sadly he has been in too many fights with our other dog & he is in constant danger. He does not like being alone, he is very affectionate, sweet & loves to cuddle. He'll make a great companion or support dog.He has possibly been abused & is a bit hand shy at first. It is extremely difficult for us to rehome him but it's for his safety & ours.

Story
Bentley is fostered in Pleasonton, KS. Meet Bentley.  Bentley was surrendered to us when his owner had some medical issues and was unable to continue caring for him.  Bentley came in a little under-socialized and slightly overweight but he has come A LONG WAY! Bentley is 3 year old male Australian Shepherd mix who is working towards his ideal weight of approximately 50 lbs.   Bentley previously spent great deal of time in his crate.  For this reason, he did not receive proper socialization. Socialization is something his foster home has diligently been working on with him.  She has been desensitizing him to many things, including leash walking, grooming, other dogs and other people.  Bentley previously experienced some fears in some area, but he really has put in a lot of work and he is making wonderful progress in all areas. Bentley is in a foster home with several other dogs of ages and sizes, and does well with them.  We are unsure about cats.   Bentley is more of a low-key guy who is looking for an adopter who enjoys the same type of lifestyle. He prefers a home where there are less comings and goings.  We also recommend a physically fenced yard and a home that is both patient and has no children under age 12.  Bentley is a talker. The more you talk to him, the more he expresses his feelings.  Bentley is what we term a "work in progress", but he is the type of dog that will quickly become your best friend once trust is gained between you.  Are you looking for your new best friend? Bentley is neutered, up-to-date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, microchipped and receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization.  For more information on our adoption process or to complete an adoption application, please visit our website at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org. NOTE:  All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers so we need an approved application on file to set up a meet with a dog you might have an interest in.  Please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application.  We pride ourselves on matches that work for both the dog and your family.  MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org ##2407689##

Story
Banjo is fostered in Waukesha WI Introducing Banjo!  This ADORABLE little male Australian Shepherd and Dachshund mix was born on 1/23/2026.  He and his littermates will be ready to head to their forever homes AFTER 3/20/26.  Momma is a red merle standard Australian Shepherd with just the sweetest personality, easy going temperament and just delightful.  Momma weighs 40lbs at 2 years old so is a bit of a smaller standard Aussie as well.  Daddy was one of three Dachshunds in the home so we just don't know which one. We imagine full grown they will be between 20 -40 lbs. Banjo is smart, brave, curious and inquisitive.  Banjo is potty training already!  Aussie pups need to be socialized with the world around them once adopted or they can become guard dogs and protective of their people and spaces.  They need to be exposed to various types of stimuli at a young age and it needs to be continued throughout their lives. If you have never had an Aussie or a working dog before, we recommend doing a little research before committing to this high energy working breed!  He will need a MINIMUM of 2-3 hours of exercise throughout the day.  He is also way too young to be home alone.   Banjo is dewormed, microchipped, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations and now receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms. ##2670701##

Story
Whisper is being fostered in Waukesha WI Meet Whisper. This stunning black German Shepherd was born on 11/24/2024.  He is about 75lbs and just a total looker. This super bright pup is ready to report for duty, in exchange for treats. He is potty trained and crate trained. He is highly treat/food motivated, this boy is ready to follow your lead so long as you got those treats in your pocket.    Whisper is eager to please, while he knows the basics, he would really excel with someone that wanted to do some obedience training with him.  He would love to have a fenced yard, maybe another dog to play with and someone to love on!  He loves to go for car rides and walks well on leash. His play style with other dogs is a bit rough, so someone that can hold their own with him would be ideal.  He could also do well as an only dog.  His recall is excellent.  Looking for a conversationalist? Whisper is happy to talk to you using his big, beautiful voice, usually when getting into his crate. Desire a workout buddy? This pup has the energy to run you through your paces and would be the PERFECT partner for obedience and/or dog sport training. Prefer a companion with a playful nature? This goofy boy lives for fun and games. Whisper is hoping to find a forever home with someone that has German Shepherd or Belgian Malinois experience. He would be happiest with a fenced yard to run and bounce in, but no fence is required so long as he has someone willing to continue reinfrocing his recall and some treats. Additionally, Whisper loves every person of every age he has ever met but isn’t fond of cats. Whisper is seeking a human companion that has plenty of time to cuddle, play, and teach him with positive reinforcement. Whisper is neutered, microchipped, negative for all tick borne diseases, up to date on his vaccinations and he is receiving monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworms. Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization.  For more information on our adoption process or to complete an adoption application, please visit our website at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org. Story
50 Scent is fostered in Salem, WI. These adorable puppies were born February 5, 2026, and are growing into happy, fluffy little personalities! There are seven puppies total, four girls and three boys, and all of them have full tails and are starting to get their soft puppy fluff.  They are ready for their forever homes!  They are pretty small for 8 weeks old so we think daddy was a smaller breed. At almost 8 weeks old, they are between 4-5lbs.  At full grown, they could be between 35-50lbs. Their mom, Paoli, came into rescue as a stray while pregnant, so we aren’t exactly sure what the puppies are mixed with. What we do know is they are absolutely adorable and already showing sweet, playful personalities. Even at this young age, these puppies are starting early socialization and gaining confidence as they explore the world around them. They are being exposed to normal household activity and human interaction to help set them up for success in their future homes. Because they are young puppies, they will need families who are committed to continuing their development. This includes: Ongoing socialization Positive training Potty training Plenty of exercise and mental stimulation Puppies are a lot of work, but the reward is a lifelong companion. With the right guidance, these little ones will grow into wonderful companions! Puppies will be 8 weeks on April 2nd, 2026 and ready to go to their forever homes!
