Story
Lumen is a ten-month-old Cattle Dog/Pittie mix (or as we like to say, a mix of a mix!) who is ready to light up someone’s life. Found as a stray in the local area and never redeemed, Lumen is now looking for a fresh start with a family to call her own. True to her name, Lumen shines bright—especially with her striking blue eyes that have earned her the nickname “headlights.” Her unique look is completed by her adorably quirky ears, and her petite frame at just around thirty-five pounds. Lumen is a social butterfly who does great with other dogs and absolutely loves playtime. No cats. You’ll often find her digging through the toy bin, proudly trotting around with her latest treasure like it’s the best prize in the world. She’s goofy, full of personality, and always ready to make people smile. If you’re looking for a fun-loving, eye-catching pup who will keep you laughing and fill your home with energy and affection, Lumen might just be your perfect match. Her adoption fee is $200, which includes her vaccines, fecal exam, deworming, current heartworm/flea prevention, heartworm test, registered microchip, and spay. She is already fixed! Story
Dash is a 2½-year-old Husky mix with a big personality and an even bigger zest for life! He was found as a stray and luckily, he had a microchip. We had no luck with his owner but found out he was with CACC multiple times in 2025. He has just been in and out of the shelter system for so long. Now, he’s more than ready for stability and a true forever home. Dash is high-energy and loves to go 100 mph. Zoomies are his specialty, and he’ll happily run laps around us on a retractable lead in the field to help burn off that Husky stamina. He thrives on activity and would do best with an active family committed to providing plenty of daily exercise—both physical and mental. Long walks, hikes, runs, puzzle toys, and structured playtime will help this fun-loving guy be his very best self. Because of his high energy, zooms, and being mouthy during playtime, Dash is looking for a home without young children (8+). He does well with other dogs that can appreciate (and keep up with!) his big personality and impressive endurance. Dash is hoping this is the LAST time he ever has to call a shelter home. He’s ready to trade kennel life for couch cuddles, outdoor adventures, and a family who will love him for the energetic, spirited companion he is. His adoption fee is $200, which includes his vaccines, fecal exam, deworming, current heartworm/flea prevention, heartworm test, registered microchip, and neuter. He is already fixed! Story
Hi everyone! So my friends at Joliet Township Animal Control said I needed to introduce myself to the internet world to see if I can boost my visibility here. I keep hearing over and over that I am the longest resident of 125 plus days. Let me tell you my story.Back in December, I was looking about in a neighborhood for some shelter from the cold and found someone`s back porch. They luckily called animal control and I was scooped up by a female officer that put me in her warm van with a blanket. We took a quick ride to this big facility, where I was greeted by a team of smiles faces and treats. They were examining me and said I was skinny, dirty (how rude!), and needed a bath. After a few pokes of some vaccines, they gave me a warm bath and a soft blanket in my kennel and I felt RELIEVED. It`s been a minute since I have had a bowl of food and warm and somewhere soft to lay down. Days past and adoption day finally came and I was thrilled! I could not wait to start meeting new families! As time went on, people came and went and I was puzzled as to why I was never chosen... I met several families with kids and I showered them with kisses and affection. I met couples and I showed them how fun I could be with toys. I sat patiently for treats and gently took them from their hands. But it wasn`t enough and days and days passed and my kennel walls became my new home...I was originally fine with dogs and loved to play but my stress became unbearable. Hearing 25+ dogs in a room constantly would drive you nuts too. I`m okay with other male dogs that are my size but no small dogs or cats. Thank goodness for the staff and volunteers here. They love to keep me busy with long walks, treats, and peanut butter frisbees (my favorite). You can always know where I am because the staff always greet me with a loud `SIDDDDDDDDDYYYY` and I repay them with my shimmy of my butt and tail wags. I just can`t get enough of it and loves to wet them with a kiss. I hope you all share my story and help me find my forever home. I was in roughhhh shape when I came in and I just need a chance. Feel free to check out my full adoption memo at https://www.joliettownshipanimalcontrol.net/adopt/Call my friends at JTAC for details or stop by to see me! I`ll be waiting!

Story
Jake is a three-year-old Pittie who came to us as a stray, and to our surprise, no one ever came looking for him. It’s hard to imagine why, because Jake is packed full of personality and charm that instantly wins people over. This playful boy is an absolute social butterfly with other dogs—he loves to zoom, wrestle, and bounce around with his canine friends. In the playroom, Jake turns into a full-on comedian, springing from wall to wall like a fifty-pound kitten. He’s known for flopping onto his back mid-play and enthusiastically digging through the toy bin in search of his next favorite toy. Jake’s goofy, high-energy spirit keeps everyone laughing and on their toes. He would thrive in an active home that can keep up with his playful antics and give him plenty of outlets for his energy. If you’re looking for a fun-loving companion who will bring constant entertainment and joy into your life, Jake just might be your guy. Jake was recently adopted and returned due to not settling in the home with the five kids. It was a lot at once to decompress and settle in. Also no cats for Mr Jake. His adoption fee is $200, which includes his vaccines, fecal exam, deworming, current heartworm/flea prevention, heartworm test, registered microchip, and neuter. He is already fixed! Story
Ziggy is a lively six-month-old Pittie with a stunning red brindle coat and a personality to match. Found as a stray, Ziggy had an owner come forward, but sadly, they never returned to bring him home. Despite that, Ziggy hasn’t let his past dampen his spirit—he’s a happy, energetic pup who is ready to start his next chapter. This playful boy is always up for an adventure, whether it’s tagging along for errands, strolling through the neighborhood, or hitting the trails for a hike. Ziggy does well with other dogs and would love a companion to romp and play with. As a young pup, Ziggy is still learning his manners and will benefit from a family committed to continuing his training and helping him grow into the well-behaved dog he’s meant to be. With guidance, consistency, and lots of love, Ziggy is sure to blossom into an incredible lifelong companion. Good with kids, Not good with dogs, Not good with cats, Needs experienced adopter, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Need rehomed due to recent aggression against other male dogs, anxiety issues. Is very protective of family members but is still sweet and affectionate. Plays well with older female dog in the home. Is very playful with balls and rope toys, likes to be active especially in a fenced yard. Anxiety has seemed to increase with recent new babies being added to the family which has raised the desire to have him rehomed. We really don't want to have to, he's still a very good dog, has just had some personality shifts and would probably do better somewhere that can provide him more individual attention. Please consider giving him a chance!
