Story
Lumen is a ten-month-old Cattle Dog/Pittie mix (or as we like to say, a mix of a mix!) who is ready to light up someone’s life. Found as a stray in the local area and never redeemed, Lumen is now looking for a fresh start with a family to call her own. True to her name, Lumen shines bright—especially with her striking blue eyes that have earned her the nickname “headlights.” Her unique look is completed by her adorably quirky ears, and her petite frame at just around thirty-five pounds. Lumen is a social butterfly who does great with other dogs and absolutely loves playtime. No cats. You’ll often find her digging through the toy bin, proudly trotting around with her latest treasure like it’s the best prize in the world. She’s goofy, full of personality, and always ready to make people smile. If you’re looking for a fun-loving, eye-catching pup who will keep you laughing and fill your home with energy and affection, Lumen might just be your perfect match. Her adoption fee is $200, which includes her vaccines, fecal exam, deworming, current heartworm/flea prevention, heartworm test, registered microchip, and spay. She is already fixed! Story
Jake is a three-year-old Pittie who came to us as a stray, and to our surprise, no one ever came looking for him. It’s hard to imagine why, because Jake is packed full of personality and charm that instantly wins people over. This playful boy is an absolute social butterfly with other dogs—he loves to zoom, wrestle, and bounce around with his canine friends. In the playroom, Jake turns into a full-on comedian, springing from wall to wall like a fifty-pound kitten. He’s known for flopping onto his back mid-play and enthusiastically digging through the toy bin in search of his next favorite toy. Jake’s goofy, high-energy spirit keeps everyone laughing and on their toes. He would thrive in an active home that can keep up with his playful antics and give him plenty of outlets for his energy. If you’re looking for a fun-loving companion who will bring constant entertainment and joy into your life, Jake just might be your guy. Jake was recently adopted and returned due to not settling in the home with the five kids. It was a lot at once to decompress and settle in. Also no cats for Mr Jake. His adoption fee is $200, which includes his vaccines, fecal exam, deworming, current heartworm/flea prevention, heartworm test, registered microchip, and neuter. He is already fixed! Scylla Marie

Rottweiler German Shepherd Dog

Female, Adult
Crest Hill, IL
Size
(when grown) Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
Details
Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Scylla is 6 years old, she is very loving. She loves to lay in bed and be around her people. She will follow you around the house and lay by you. She can be left at home while you work; (she will not tear up couches or make a mess). Scylla does have a bit of social anxiety; we are working through this because we got her during the pandemic. She is protective of her house and the people in it. She will bark when people approach the house or come in the house if she doesn’t know who they are. Once Scylla becomes accustomed to them she will be very loving with them as well. She is shy with other dogs and cats but she will play with them once she gets to know them.

Good with dogs, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Kermit was adopted at 8 weeks old last July. Since we live in a condo, he's been trained to use potty pads. He is very energetic, friendly and likes to play tuggies. He sleeps in his crate, not a cuddler. Loves to chew on bully sticks and his stuffed toys. He tends to be overwhelming when meeting other dogs. He's not vicious at all, just wants to play and will not settle down. It would be great if his new owner could match his energy level a bit more. I'm older and am having some unexpected health issues. I feel that it would be best to find him a more suitable home now while he is young and and it's not an emergency situation.

Story
This is Chester. He has been with his foster since he was about 4 months old, but is still looking for just the right family. They will be patient, with a quieter household, willing to give a nervous boy time to adjust to them and a new environment. He does love other dogs and would do well in a home with a confident 4-legged sibling to show him the ropes. Because of his nervousness, Chester will require a home with a fenced yard. Our adoption process is usually quick but may take up to two weeks. When you find an animal you are interested in, we ask that you fill out an application on our website, PawsUp4Rescue.org/adopting as a first step so we can determine if your family is a good fit for the animal. If you are, then we will contact you to arrange a time for you and your family to meet the animal so you can decide if it is a good fit. If you currently have dogs, we require them to be present at the meeting to ensure it's a good fit all around. Once compatibility is determined, we move on to the paperwork and finalize the adoption. If the meet is not a good fit, we will keep your application on file for 6 months and will gladly consider your family for another dog.
