Age/Birthdate: 08/05/2023 • Current Weight: 45lbs • Breed Guess: Black Lab mix • Fully Vetted: Yes • Adoption fee: $350 Any Medical or Special needs: No Temperament: Dogs: Highly social and LOVES other dogs! Cats: unknown Strangers: Has never met a stranger in her life! Loves EVERYONE she meets! Children: She has only met 2 kiddos (ages 4 & 6) so far and she sat nicely and let them pet her! Training needs: Crate trained: Yes Housebroken: Yes Willow is an OUTGOING Lab mix weighing in around 45 pounds at about 2.5 years old! This girl has NEVER met a stranger- whether it's a new dog or a new person, she loves them all making her a GREAT option for a multidog home! She is very active and LOVES to play with toys, play fetch, run around the yard, and go for walks! She would also make an excellent running buddy! While she is about 2.5, she has a lot of puppy energy so she would love another young dog to run and burn energy with (having two energetic dogs is actually a perfect combination as they just wear each other down)! As she has puppy energy, she also has some puppy behaviors like jumping and leash pulling. If you're up for taking a basic training class or two, Willow is down to train as she LOVES treats and is SUPER eager to work making her easy to train! Currently, she is working on "sit", "stay", "leave it", and "off"! If you are looking for a super social, larger than life personality, Willow is your girl! She is bound to fill your life with love and of course, smiles (just look at how cute her smile is)! If you're interested in meeting outgoing Willow, please fill out the application below! https://www.rubywhiskers.org/adopt This dog is currently located in Chicago's southwest suburbs and can be seen by appointment once an adoption application is completed and approved by the rescue. Story
Age/Birthdate: 07/14/2016 • Weight: 80lbs• Breed Guess: Siberian Husky • Fully Vetted: Yes • Adoption fee: $175 Any Special Medical or Special Needs: Yes, Takes Proin 1 time a day due to urinary incontinence. The medication has been effective for her resolving incontinence. Temperament with: Dogs: Great Cats: Came from a home with cats Children list specific ages: All ages Strangers: Shy at first then wants all the attention Training Needs: Crate Trained: No, doesn't need to be crated Potty Trained: Yes Izzy is a GRACEFUL 8-year-old Siberian Husky weighing in around 80 pounds! This stunning girl has aged like fine wine with her beautiful grey and black coat and bi eyes (one blue and one brown eye)! This gal has a heart full of love and just the right touch of Husky sass so don’t let her age fool you, she still has plenty of playful zoomies left in her! Izzy is the perfect mix of couch potato and adventure buddy as she loves lounging on cool floors but also enjoys running happy laps around the backyard with her foster siblings! Izzy gets along wonderfully with other dogs and even lived with cats in her previous home, making her an easygoing companion who could fit beautifully into almost any household! She absolutely ADORES children — especially her foster’s grandkids (ages 9 and 11) — and would LOVE a home with kiddos to dote on! Izzy can be shy and is a girls girl so she tends to warm up to women a little faster than men but regardless, Izzy is always polite and warms up quickly with kindness and patience! Once she feels comfortable, she’s all about snuggles, belly rubs, and gentle affection! This smart, well-mannered girl is also fully potty trained and does GREAT when left alone — no crate needed! She knows a few tricks like sit, lay down, and paw, and she walks beautifully on leash, making her a great walking buddy for peaceful neighborhood strolls! Izzy also takes treats very gently (especially Milk Bone peanut butter bites — her favorite!). Izzy is still building trust in some areas after a tough past — her former owners kept her in a crawl space before rescue. Despite that, she has blossomed into a loving, loyal dog who just craves affection and security! She can be nervous at the vet (who isn't, right?), but she handled everything like a champ with a gentle, patient approach. Sweet Izzy also prefers to be brushed rather than bathed for now, as she continues learning that people can be kind and safe. With the right family that is willing to take things at Izzy’s pace while showing love and affection, she’ll continue to blossom into the confident, happy dog she was always meant to be. Izzy’s gentle spirit and forgiving heart are truly remarkable — she just wants to be loved and to know she’s finally safe! Once she trusts you, she’ll reward you with endless loyalty, soft snuggles, and that sweet Husky smile that lights up the room! If you’ve always dreamed of having a Husky but worried about the high energy or mischief that comes with having a husky, Izzy is the perfect introduction to the breed! She embodies all the best Husky traits — beauty, loyalty, and charm — without the chaos! Whoever welcomes Izzy into their home will be incredibly lucky to have such a sweet, resilient, and loving girl by their side This dog is currently located in Chicago's southwest suburbs and can be seen by appointment once an adoption application is completed and approved by the rescue. Please note that we cannot hold dogs for any reason. If the dog or puppy is not yet fully vetted, we can only consider applications from adopters within an hour's drive or 40 miles of Lemont, IL, due to required vet visits at our partner veterinarians. For fully vetted dogs or puppies, we welcome applications from out-of-state or beyond the 40-mile radius. Please only apply if you are ready to meet and welcome a new companion into your home within five days of approval. Breed and Age Information: Unless the puppy was born in our care, we cannot guarantee the breed or age. Breed and age estimates are based on veterinary advice, shelter records, physical appearance, and information provided by previous owners. The adoption fee includes: Spay/neuter (performed at one of our partner veterinarians as scheduled by the rescue) Microchip Rabies vaccine DHPP vaccine Bordetella vaccine 4DX test (Heartworm, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichia, Lyme Disease) General wellness care, including deworming, heartworm prevention, and flea/tick prevention Your adoption fee also helps support medical care for other rescue animals, including heartworm treatments, surgeries, and emergency care. Spay/Neuter Policy: We spay/neuter dogs at 16 weeks or older, at the discretion of the rescue and in consultation with our partner veterinarians. While some veterinarians recommend delaying the procedure based on a breeds projected size, as a rescue, our primary goal is to prevent unwanted litters. Spaying and neutering also provide significant health benefits, including cancer prevention and reducing behavioral issues. The American Animal Hospital Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association support pediatric spay/neuter for cats and dogs as early as 16 weeks. We carefully assess each case to determine the best timing for the procedure. Interested in Adopting? Submit an adoption application at www.rubywhiskers.org/adopt

Story
Age/Birthdate: 01/30/2022 • Weight: 70lbs• Breed Guess: Pittie mix • Fully Vetted: Yes • Adoption fee: Has been generously sponsored by her foster family Temperament with: •Dogs: Prefers to be an only dog in home. •Cats: Not a fan of kitties •Children list specific ages: She lives with kiddos but would probably do best with teenagers or in an all adult home! •Strangers: She is great with women but she can be weary of men Training Needs: Crate Trained: Yes Potty Trained: Yes Chelsea is a SPIRITED Pittie mix weighing in around 70 pounds at just under 4 years old! She LOVES her toys and can be full of energy during playtime and she’s a BIG fan of car rides and walks! While she used to be afraid of water, she’s gotten much better with baths through diligent work with her foster family! This smart girl REALLY loves treats and will happily work for them making training easy! Speaking of being smart, she does knows how to open push-down door handles- be impressed AND be ready to child-lock your doors lol! She enjoys lounging on soft beds and is a wonderful cuddle buddy at night, often nudging your hand or lifting your arm with her nose to ask for more love which is the sweetest thing ever! Her personality is a fun mix of goofy, moody, and affectionate! She doesn’t bark much and usually only speaks up when she’s excited or when she feels the need to step in if the kids start arguing (she's the bossman around here lol)! She can get overly excited during play, so hands should stay away from her mouth (she is a mouthy gal), and she does best with calm, structured interactions! Regardless of her bossman front she puts on, she can be a scaredy baby as thunderstorms can scare her, but she finds comfort in being close to her trusted people! Chelsea is also a reactive dog who has made steady progress with the right structure and tools! She now walks well on a leash, especially with a prong collar, as she’s surprisingly strong for her size. Without it, she can be difficult to walk alongside other dogs. She has a history of reacting to the male dogs in her home, so careful management is important. She also eats separately from the other dogs and has shown food-related growling before, though she has improved as her trust grows! Feeding her separately/in her crate is what's easiest for everyone- it keeps everyone, safe, happy, and well fed! Because of her sensitivities, Chelsea will thrive in an older teenager/adult-only home. She is fearful of men and teenage boys and can become growly if startled/their is rambunctious behavior going on (unpredictable to her), although she has made progress as she’s accepted pets from men while out on walks or in stores with proper introductions! It's clear that men haven't always treated this girl right and she so with a family of adults and older, calmer kids, she will bond deeply and show her sweetest side! Chelsea is incredibly smart, full of personality, and loyal once she trusts you! She’s not destructive, does well free-roaming, and is crate trained when her family leaves. She’ll even use her paw to sneak a bone or counter surf if she thinks she can get away with it lol! Underneath all her quirks is a loving, snuggly dog who wants connection, structure, and a family who understands her. If you’re looking for a clever, cuddly, adventurous companion who will adore you with her whole heart, Chelsea just might be your girl. If you're interested in meeting spirited Chelsea, please fill out the application below! www.rubywhiskers.org/adopt Please only apply if you are ready to meet and welcome a new companion into your home within five days of approval. Story
Age/Birthdate: 03/17/2023 • Weight: 60lbs• Breed Guess: Pittie mix • Fully Vetted: Yes • Adoption fee: $350 Any Medical or Special Needs: Yes, recovering from surgery 11/24 for a common orthopedic condition in dogs where the kneecap (patella) dislocates from its normal position, leading to pain and mobility issues. (covered by the rescue). He is more than able to be adopted but any family interested in him must be willing to take him to and from any appointments needed! Temperament with: Dogs: Great Cats: Not a fan of kitties Children list specific ages: All ages Strangers: Happy to meet anyone and everyone! Training Needs: Crate Trained: Yes! Potty Trained: Yes! Kane is a SWEET American Bulldog mix weighing in around 60 pounds at about 2.5 years old! This guy has the biggest head with the smushiest jowls and the most LOWEABLE personality, BUT he has convinced absolutely no one that there are many thoughts going on behind those eyes lol! He is the kind of dog to scratch his ear with his foot and then smell it, he is the kind of dog to bang his head on the corners of a wall, and he's the kind of dog to walk into doors or windowpanes because he doesn't understand how they work lol. Everyone loves him so much for his personality, not so much his smarts lol! With that said, this boy is AWESOME! He’s potty and crate trained, is AMAZING with all dogs (even when they’re being mean to him) and currently lives with dogs as big as 110 pounds and as small as 25 pounds and is on the submissive side towards dogs! Kane has this goofy habit of what his foster family calls "the play trap" where he rolls around on his back until another dog comes over to check on him and then gets trapped into playing with him lol (check out the video and picture of him belly up- Spot fell into the trap and got stuck playing with Kane)! Kane is pretty similar to a small child in the sense that he never wants the fun to end so the play trap usually comes out after he has had a good play session but doesn't want to keep running around so he just lays there until a poor, innocent victim comes over to check in on him and then gets stuck playing with him! Kane is also such a SNUGGLER and enjoys wearing sweaters and pajama's, lounging in comfy beds, and being tucked in at night (look at how cute he is in his little bed)! Kane also shares toys and water great (he is still working on sharing food from a bowl has made leaps and bounds and is able to eat food right next to another dog now! In the meantime, though, he will happily eat his food in his crate)! While he’s not a fan of the kitties, that’s ok- he has so many other amazing qualities! He’s medium energy, rides great in the car, is GREAT during bath time, and walks well on the leash! He is still learning not to jump up but he LOVES treats so training isn’t too hard (you just have to get past the lack of brain content lol)! Kane also takes treats SO gently and is overall just such a sweet boy! He LOVES affection and is ALWAYS trying to smother others with love and kisses- affection is definitely this boy's love language! Additionally, Kane has never met a stranger and can often be seen getting his whole-body wagging when he sees his most favorite people! He goes to work with his foster every day and is always such a well-behaved boy! Kane is not destructive and does a good job self-entertaining with toys! As he hasn't shown destructive tendencies, Kane would most likely do well when left out! If you are interested in seeing more pictures/videos of Kane in his foster home, please visit this Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/share/1HGxDfybVi/?mibextid=wwXIfr If you're interested in meeting sweet Kane, please fill out the application below! www.rubywhiskers.org/adopt Please only apply if you are ready to meet and welcome a new companion into your home within five days of approval. Age/Birthdate: 06/17/2023 • Current Weight: 42lbs • Breed Guess: Pocket Pittie/Black Mouth Cur mix • Fully Vetted: Yes • Adoption fee: $350 Any Medical or Special needs: NO Temperament with: Dogs: Great! Cats: Friendly! Children list specific ages: She is GREAT with kiddos and has met kiddos as young as 2 years old! Strangers: Great! Training Needs: Crate Trained: Yes Potty Trained: Yes June is an ADORABLE Pittie/Black Mouth Cur mix weighing in around 42 pounds at about 2.5 years old! Have you ever seen ears as cute as hers? Her foster parents call them the "wind shield wipers" because they are just SO CUTE! Additionally, she comes up right to around knee height making her the PERFECT size for any family! This sweet baby is a quiet, gentle girl who has blossomed into a confident and affectionate! While she can sometimes still be shy and bashful in new settings, June has come leaps and bounds and has even gone to adoption events and met lots of new people and other dogs and did AMAZING (she even shared toys and treats with a puppy friend)! June is potty trained (with occasional accidents, usually once every few days) and can be crated if needed, though she prefers lounging on a couch or chair! June is still a little shy around new people, but once she warms up, she LOVES cuddles, playing fetch, and spending quality time with her favorite humans! She enjoys walks around the block, and you might even find her happily jogging by your side once she’s comfortable! June does best in a home with another playful dog — having a canine friend has helped her open up, play more, and find her happy side! She enjoys tug-of-war and has no food, toy, or water aggression towards people or other dogs AND respects boundaries of others making her the PERFECT addition to any household with another furbaby (she has never met a dog she doesn't love)! She is also not reactive towards other dogs making her a PERFECT walking companion! June tends to forget cats are as small as they are and will play try to play with them/mouth them so a home without kitties is probably a better match! Additionally, June would do best with children 7 and older who understand her need for patience and gentle interaction! While it might take a second for June to warm up, once she does, she is a loyal, gentle, and affectionate companion who will shower her family with love, enjoy cuddles and playtime, and bring calm, steady joy to any home! She thrives with patience, consistency, and a loving environment, making her the perfect addition for someone ready to give her the security and companionship she deserves! ***Please only apply if you are ready to meet and welcome a new companion into your home within five days of approval at rubywhiskers.org/adopt This dog is currently located in Chicago's southwest suburbs and can be seen by appointment once an adoption application is completed and approved by the rescue.
