Story
Milo is 8 1/2. We rescued him in January 2018 from Thailand. He was a street dog who was then placed in a pound, then a rescue organization. Brought to the US by a friend of a friend. We thought we could help him as he suffered a lot of abuse young. He has had lots of training and does well with the standards(heel, sit, place), but struggles when someone comes into his home or too close to him. He takes fluoxetine for anxiety and it helps a little. Seperation anxiety and people coming into his home unless he knows them well. He growls aggressively and barks. He needs someone very familiar with training dogs and dealing with a potential biter. We spent the last 8+ years with him. Our circumstances have changed enough that it will only build on his anxiety and we have grandchildren that we feel would be in danger if they were to visit us. We currently do not allow them to be with Milo. This is not an easy decision and we will not give him up if it is not a good move where he’ll be happy.

Story
Meet Honey Honey is a beautiful mixed-breed dog the color of sweet golden honey, with a heart to match. She truly believes she is a lap dog, and whether or not she fits has never stopped her from trying. If you sit down, she will gladly make herself at home right on you. When Honey first came to the shelter, she was very scared and shut down. Everything felt new and overwhelming, but even then, she always looked to people for comfort. That quiet trust showed just how gentle and loving she really is. With time, patience, and kindness, her personality has begun to shine. Honey loves her toys, her people, and pretty much everything life has to offer. She gets along well with other dogs and even cats, making her a wonderful fit for many types of homes. She is affectionate, sweet, and happiest when she is close to the people she loves. Honey is the kind of dog who will curl up beside you, lean into your affection, and remind you every day how powerful love and reassurance can be. She is ready to find her person and her forever home. Honey is living the good life in a foster home, so if you would like to meet this gorgeous girl, fill out an adoption questionnaire at animalcareleague.org and we will set up a time for you!

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Canelo is such a great little dog! He’s very attuned to his people and loves to be close to them, but he is very polite about it! He will sit quietly and wait for your attention and push up against you occasionally to check in. Canelo loves playing with the large resident dog in his foster home, and he is politely avoidant of the small dog who prefers her space. His fosters report that he loves to be carried around like a baby and to be in a cuddle puddle as often as possible. Weight: 43 lbs Spayed/Neutered: Yes! Up to date on vaccines: Yes! Microchipped: Yes! Housebroken: Working on it! They're doing well on a schedule but will have occasional accidents in the home. Crate-trained: Yes! They will settle in the crate easily and are comfortable staying in it for 4+ hours. Leash behavior: Good! They enjoy walks and are easy to handle while on leash. Dog sociability: They love them! They thrive with a dog buddy and would love to live in a forever home with other dogs. Cat sociability: They are working on their cat manners! They have lived with cats and have mostly been fine, but will occasionally chase them or play a little too rough. Kid sociability: Good with kids of all ages! They are comfortable being around even very young children and do not jump on them, play rough with them, or get mouthy with them. Likes: Playing with his dog friends, cuddling with his people, quiet time with his chews, being treated like the actual human baby that he is Dislikes: Not being treated like the actual human baby that he is If you’d like to meet Canelo, please fill out an adoption application at animalcareleague.org/adoptions and send us an email at adoption@animalcareleague.org to schedule an introduction!

Not good with cats, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Phineas our handsome gentleman with ears that could rival any floppy-eared dog celebrity. While he might take a little time to warm up (he’s got to get to know you first!), once he does, you’ll be charmed by his calm demeanor and playful side. He’s the kind of dog who loves to chill, but when the mood strikes, he’ll bring out his goofy, fun-loving personality. Phineas would thrive in an adult-only home where he’s the one and only dog, with an experienced handler who understands that he may need a little time to settle in. Once he’s comfortable, he’ll give you all the loyalty and love you can handle, and maybe even a few floppy-ear wiggles! If you’re looking for a sweet, mellow guy who’s got a playful side and plenty of love to give, Phineas could be your perfect match. With a little patience and guidance, he’s ready to be your new best friend!

Story
Our boy Gabe is basically a ray of sunshine wrapped in fur—he’s playful, goofy, and rocks a permanent smile that could light up an entire room (seriously, it’s contagious). Literally a cutie pie! This happy go lucky guy is always down for some fun, whether it’s zoomies in the yard, a game of fetch, or just flopping over for belly rubs like the lovable goofball he is. He’s a total people-person and loves making new human friends. He would prefer to be the only canine king of the castle. Other dogs? Meh. Gabe knows he’s the whole package— so no extras needed! If you’re looking for a buddy that is silly, sweet, and always smiling, Gabe’s your guy. Come meet him and prepare to fall in love (and maybe laugh a lot). If interested, you can fill out our application on our website at animalcareleague.org!

They thrive with a dog buddy and would love to live in a forever home with other dogs. Cat sociability: They are working on their cat manners! They have lived with cats and have mostly been fine, but will occasionally chase them or play a little too rough. Kid sociability: Unknown! They have never met children while in foster care.
