Story
Meet Kal-El! The Superdog! The Last Dog of Krypton! Faster than a speeding ball! More powerful than any tug toy! Able to leap tall stick piles in a single bound! Kal-El, secret identity Clark Kent, is looking for a forever home. He wasn’t found in a cornfield after his ship crashed, but I did find him wandering the streets of Chicago, looking for someone to save him. After taking him home, we discovered that while he has some dog and human reactivity, manageable resource guarding, and a high prey drive, he is the biggest cuddle bug, incredibly smart, and very easy to train. He would be the perfect addition to any home with adults only and no other pets. Please let us know if you are up to the task of housing, training, and, most importantly, loving, The Dog of Steel. The adoption fee will cover his neuter surgery.

Story
If you’re looking for brains, beauty, and a big ol’ shepherd heart, say hello to Merkur! This handsome boy is the full package: wicked smart, endlessly loyal, and charming enough to make you cancel your plans just to hang out with him. Seriously—Merkur doesn’t fall for tricks... he teaches them. Merkur is all about his daily walks (sniffing every bush = very important business) and has a serious weakness for treats—bonus points if they’re crunchy. He’s the kind of pup who thrives when he knows his people are all in. Give him love, structure, and lots of reassurance, and he’ll give you his whole heart in return. He’s already stolen ours—probably because we can’t resist those ears or his sweet, soulful eyes. Now, he’s on the lookout for a forever home where he can feel safe, secure, and oh-so-loved. Think Merkur might be your perfect match? Fill out an adoption application at animalcareleague.org and come meet your new best buddy!

Story
Meet Huckleberry Huckleberry is the kind of dog who doesn’t just walk beside you — he sticks with you. This handsome German Shepherd mix is loyal to his core, and once he decides you’re his person, you’ll have a best friend for life. At first, Huck can be a little shy. He likes to take his time getting to know new people, but when he trusts you, his sweet and affectionate side comes shining through. He’ll lean in for pets, look up at you with those big soulful eyes, and make you feel like the most important person in the world. One of Huck’s favorite things is going for walks. He lights up the moment he sees his leash — trotting happily along, sniffing everything, just enjoying being out in the world with his person. Huckleberry is looking for a calm, patient home where he can feel safe and loved. Once he’s comfortable, he’ll give you all the quiet loyalty and steady companionship you could ask for. If you’re looking for a true friend — someone who’ll walk with you, love you, and always have your back — come meet Huckleberry. He’s ready to find his forever person.
