Story
Sugar is a really good dog. Since we had a child we haven’t been able to provide her with the time and stimulation she deserves. She is a low energy dog who would just like to nap next to you as you watch tv or play games. She loves to go for walks and someplace with a backyard would be best. She doesn’t play with toys or fetch as much as we’ve tried. She gets along with other dogs and goes to dog parks. She loves to eat and will do tricks for snacks. She knows her tricks in hand commands, English and Spanish. She does snore a bit and makes “bubble noises”. She does have some issues to be aware of. She has separation anxiety. She doesn’t destroy things but she will howl and cry a bit and gets upset when she isn’t near you. She does like to try to steal food. She also has seasonal allergies right before fall where her paws get itchy and needs a shot from vet. Otherwise she is the sweetest and smartest dog you’ll meet. She has a big personality for a dog.

Story
This cutie is BONNIE, a very sweet, initially shy,  3-year-old, 17 pound, female, Maltese/Poodle cross. After a couple days of settling in with her foster family which has adults and teens, they found Bonnie to be easy going, a  “go with the flow”  kind of dog in the home. Her foster home has a couple Bully breed mixes and a couple smaller mixed breed dogs; Bonnie gets along easily with all but her best friend is Kimbo (a little Terrier mix) who is also up for adoption.   Bonnie is housebroken. She is trained to use potty pads but is being trained to toilet outside on the grass and is doing well with that, in part because of the other dogs in her foster home showing her. Bonnie really enjoys spending time in the backyard. She is a bit of a barker so she’s not appropriate for apartment or condo living. Bonnie requires a calmer home that has another dog with whom to socialize and a securely fenced yard.    Because her first owners didn’t introduce Bonnie to other people when she was a puppy, it takes her time to get comfortable with new people. Taking things slowly with her is essential - and it works! Once Bonnie is comfortable, she is very sweet and friendly. She enjoys going for walks but she can be reactive, which is her insecurity and fear to unknown people. She would benefit from continued gentle training to help her not find the world such a scary place. Bonnie’s foster family is taking her for short walks to help her have positive experiences.    This dog has been examined by licensed veterinarians, provided inoculations, been tested for diseases, dewormed, spayed, and microchipped. Story
This cutie is KIMBO, a male, Cairn Terrier/Chihuahua mix, who is around 5-6 years old and weighing around 16-18 pounds. He has a rough/wiry coat that just needs routine brushing. Kimbo is a sensitive dog who was treated unkindly when he was young so he requires time to adjust to his new surroundings and people; a patient and understanding adopter is a must for him, but he is SO worth it. He is a very sweet, shy dog who is great with other small dogs and enjoys playing with them for hours. When he’s done playing, he loves to nap on his foster mom’s lap. Kimbo lives easily in a foster home with two teenagers and his foster mom and a few dogs. We are seeking a calm, adult or adult with teen(s) household, another small, playful dog with whom he can buddy, and a securely fenced yard.  Kimbo enjoys going for walks and will benefit from continued walks to help him become more and more comfortable with seeing and hearing "life" going on around him. Kimbo is crated when people leave the home and at night, which he accepts easily. He is housebroken when taken out on a schedule.  He is uncomfortable meeting new people so he is not a dog that would do well with an adopter who wants to have a dog who goes out and meets people at events, restaurants, etc.  Kimbo's history is sad; his owner got him as a puppy and when the kids tired of him, he was relegated to living in the basement with minimal attention. He has done very well in foster care and will make a great companion for a Terrier loving person. This dog has been examined by a licensed veterinarian, provided vaccines, been dewormed, tested for diseases, neutered, and microchipped.  ADOPTION APPLICATIONS are available upon request from acaringplace@comcast.net.   A Caring Place - All Breed Dog Rescue adopts throughout the Greater Chicagoland Area. Story
Hi! My name is Fergie. I'm just a big ole love bug! Yup! That's me! I'm a 1-1/2 year-old, Boxer Bully mix with reddish color fur, a white splotch on my face and around my neck down my chest, four white paws, a paintbrush tail with a white tip, and a pink muzzle. Even though I'm around 50 pounds, I believe I am definitely a lapdog. I'm very sweet and gentle, and I just love people!  I love running around the yard, playing with my canine siblings and human kiddos, and chewing bones. But....my favorite activity is cuddling with humans on the couch! Oh, and I love napping and treats too. I do well walking on a leash, am crate trained, and am housebroken. By the way, my foster Mom says I am also a good watch dog because I bark when there is someone or something outside. I sleep well at night with no accidents and go in my crate on command during the day while my foster mom's at work. I love sleeping on the bed curled up with my canine sisters and humans.  So a really cool thing is that I am learning how to ring a bell to let my foster Mom know I need to go outside. I already know sit and I'm working on the command off. Off is a little hard for me, because I get so excited when I meet someone new, but I almost have it down. I'm pretty good at coming when I'm called too, but sometimes I get distracted. Would you like to share a forever home with lots of cuddles and sloppy dog kisses? Then, I'm your girl! I hope I get to meet you soon! Because Fergie-Faye does great with other dogs of many sizes, we are seeking an adopter with another playful dog in the home. Fergie has been examined by licensed veterinarians, provided inoculations, been tested for diseases, dewormed, spayed, and microchipped; she is housebroken and crate trained. Story
This cutie is Dixie, a 6 year old, 50 pound Pit Bull mix who is short in stature, and as sweet as pie with a little bit of spunk thrown in. Dixie loves giving kisses, really enjoys going for walks, playing with toys, and exploring and relaxing in the fenced in yard. Dixie warms up quickly to women and older children. When excited, she’ll get the zoomies and make the cutest noises. Dixie has been playful with most of the dogs in her foster home; she would be OK as the “one and only” dog in the home. She has good house manners and does not need to be crated when left alone.  Dixie came to our rescue after a neglectful owner kept her in the basement as a “breeding machine” for years. Despite that horrible existence, it did not affect her from being one of the sweetest little dogs. She will make a great addition to most households and is approved for households with children over the age of 10.  This dog has been examined by a licensed veterinarian, provided inoculations, been tested for disease, had a blood panel run (healthy), been dewormed, spayed, and microchipped. Story
Finn is great family dog to his current family, and has been for the past 4 years. He gets along with an older dog and an older cat, and is best friends with with a young child. He is trained with simple commands. He has a goofy, high energy personality. He loves belly scratches and a crunchy snack. He is very cautious and anxious about new people and animals, however, and as a result is very reactive. He needs a very patient home, where he has space to get out his energy and warm up to others at his pace. He does warm up to people faster than other animals, but it still takes him a while to feel comfortable. He really is a good boy, the best boy and we love him very much.
