Story

We have had Belle since she was a 12-week-old puppy, and she is about to be 7 later this year. She has been the sweetest of pups with our family. She has always been incredibly cuddly, affectionate, and loving. She loves playing and going for walks. The only issue we have had with her is people coming to the house. For some reason, she has always been afraid and has behavioral issues. We have to put her in her kennel when our children have friends over. We are looking for a home that would not have small children over constantly, as we do. We feel awful about how much she has to be in the kennel, and it's the reason we want her to have a home where she is out and about more. Oddly, we are foster parents and have had 0 issue with any of the children we brought into our home. The issue has solely been with children who come into our home to visit and not stay.

Pheobe, Pheebs, Pheebs Ma Dweebs. The elf eared, white pawed pretty pittie who has my whole heart. I got Pheobe in 2022, at Chicago Care and Animal Control when she was about a year, which means she’s around 5 years old. She is sweet, a kiss monster, and loves people. She is, in true pittie fashion, a total couch potato. She knows basic commands and is housebroken. I am making the heartbreaking decision to rehome her because I have young children, and she is leash aggressive towards other dogs (off leash, she is a lover and likes other dogs.) As much as I am an advocate for the breed, I also recognize that I don’t have the time or skills to work with her on her reactivity. She will stay home with us until she is safely placed in a home that will love and care for her. The ideal home will be with older children or no children (only because of her size and strength) and with no other dogs or with submissive dogs. Experienced adopters are a must.

Story

Carrie is such a sweet chill doggie! She is about 8 years old. She loves people and belly rubs and isn’t afraid to ask for more pets if she doesn’t think she got enough. She loves kids and has played and slept with both the girls and boys ages 8 and13 in her foster home. She loves to be with her pack and will look for anyone still sleeping in the mornings after waking up. She’s got the best of both boxer and American bulldog. She’s got some quirkiness from the bulldog ( she does a great half sploot with her back legs and takes a few pieces of food away and sets them down and gets comfy before eating them and going back for the whole bowl when she’s ready) and the classic boxer butt waggle with her whole rump when she’s happy. She walks so politely on her leash and doesn’t even need a fenced yard. She comes back when she’s called and is housebroken and willing to crate. She’s really a fantastic dog just looking for a loving family to be a part of. This dog is good with people and other dogs. If you would like to meet this dog, please call Teri at 630-897-7454. I love my comfort duck toy and will run around with it. I get along with dogs. I am learning to play with my foster pack and with my foster parents. I like laying at your feet once I get comfortable around you. I have not been around cats. I do not like crates. At night, I sleep on a dog bed so I can watch my foster family. I am working on my house-training. I am not good on a leash, so I would prefer a fenced in yard, so I can run. I know sit. I love chicken treats. Cocoa is the sweetest 12 1/2 year old girl who loves everyone she meets (including kids)! She loves dogs of all sizes who give her space and do not get in her face. She currently lives with two calm dogs around her size and loves to cuddle with them. She also attends doggie daycare a couple times a week. In June 2026, Cocoa had a cancerous tumor removed from her back left leg. She has fully recovered and enjoys taking long walks. Cocoa is extremely strong on leash and will pull throughout her walks especially when she sees a squirrel! She will need someone strong enough to keep up with her. Cocoa is well mannered in the home and knows basic commands. She is especially good at stay! She would love a family that will allow her to sleep in the bed!
