Story
This cutie is KIMBO, a male, Cairn Terrier/Chihuahua mix, who is around 4-5 years old and weighing around 20 pounds. He has a rough/wiry coat that just needs routine brushing. Kimbo is a sensitive dog who needs time to adjust to his new surroundings and people, so a patient and understanding adopter is a must for him. He is a very sweet, shy dog who is great with other small dogs and enjoys playing with them for hours. When he’s done playing, he loves to nap on his foster mom’s lap. Kimbo lives easily in a foster home with two teenagers and his foster mom and a few dogs; we have learned he is frightened of most men, loud noises, and sudden movements. Therefore, we are seeking a calm, adult or adult with teen(s) household, another small, playful dog with whom he can buddy, and a securely fenced yard.  Kimbo enjoys going for shorter walks and will benefit from continued leash training since he pulls on his leash due to excitement; it appears he wasn’t taken for walks prior to rescue. Kimbo is crated when people leave the home and at night, which he accepts easily. He is housebroken when taken out on a schedule.  He is uncomfortable meeting new people so he is not a dog that would do well with an adopter who wants to have a dog who goes out and meets people at events, restaurants, etc.  This dog has been examined by a licensed veterinarian, provided vaccines, been dewormed, tested for diseases, neutered, and microchipped. Our online application is not functioning currently; therefore ADOPTION APPLICATIONS are available upon request from acaringplace@comcast.net.  We apologize for the inconvenience. A Caring Place - All Breed Dog Rescue adopts throughout the Greater Chicagoland Area. We are always in search of fosters care providers. If you are one of those special people willing to open your heart and home to an animal in need and would like to receive information on how you can foster an animal, please contact us.     August 24, 2025, 6:10 pm

Story
Introducing MAX, a 1 year old, 36 pound, VERY special Husky mix. When Max was around 8 weeks old he became the sole survivor of a house fire where he suffered terrible burns on his back, legs, and tips of his ears; it took him about 9 months for his skin to regrow and heal. He will likely never have fur in some areas so he needs a coat for protection in the cold and will likely need protection of his skin from the sun in warmer weather. Please don’t let that dissuade you from considering this wonderful dog! Max is such a sweet and loving dog who doesn’t have a mean bone in his body! He is very affectionate and loves to be hugged and petted. Because he genuinely seems happiest when another dog plays with him, we are seeking adopters that have another playful dog in the home. Max may be a little too much for some small dogs, especially older ones but his best buddy is playful Shih Tzu/Bichon mix named Bogie - who loves to play chase with Max in the yard. Inside the home, Max is calm and easy going. He is happy to chew and play with his Nylabones and Kong Chews for hours and is quite good at “self entertainment.” Max cannot be crated so his foster mom uses an inside dog pen when she goes to work. True to his Husky lineage, Max will serenade you when he wants to go outside or wants to eat. He still has some puppy characteristics so proper puppy proofing will be important in the home. Max would do best in an adoptive home with another dog or multiple dogs AND someone who is home more and who will take him for daily walks and have deliberate play-time with him. He is a smart dog who would excel at different types of training. Max will require a high fence as he can easily jump over a 5 foot fence. This dog has been examined by licensed veterinarians, tested for diseases, provided inoculations, treated for burns, been dewormed, neutered, and microchipped. ADOPTION APPLICATIONS are available upon request from acaringplace@comcast.net.  Our online application isn’t working correctly so please contact us so we can send a copy via email to you. A Caring Place - All Breed Dog Rescue adopts throughout the Greater Chicagoland Area. Story
Little pup seeking the back of your recliner or couch to share. Introducing Teddy, a 2 ½ year old, 7-8 pound, Morkie (Maltese/Yorkshire Terrier cross) with a silky, soft coat requiring routine grooming. Teddy needed a few months to decompress and settle into foster care so we could get to know him and help him secure his forever home. This little guy’s personality is more like that of a Terrier; he’s independent, knows what he likes and doesn’t like, is playful, and loving to his people. Teddy does not trust people right away and will require time to adjust to the adopter. Teddy came to our rescue after his owner fled her home because of domestic violence issues. Understandably, he requires a very calm home, without children, and a patient, understanding adopter.  As you could maybe tell from the opening sentence, one of Teddy’s favorite places to lay is on the back of his foster mom’s recliner chair. He enjoys overseeing the activities of the house’s other dogs from his perch, having a good cuddle, as well as sleeping under his blanket. Teddy’s foster home has several small dogs in the home and he really enjoys playing tug and chase with them.   Teddy has some emotional scars from the life he lived prior to rescue, but he has made a lot of progress these past several months. We are hoping that you are that special person willing to give this boy a chance to become your best buddy. He deserves a wonderful new life. ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS: Must have a securely fenced yard, and an adult only household. This dog has been examined by licensed veterinarians, provided inoculations, dewormed, groomed, tested for diseases, neutered, and microchipped. Story
This handsome little fella is Gizmo, a 3-4 year old, 16 pound, Yorkshire Terrier mix who came to our rescue as a stray a couple months ago. Gizmo is a super sweet, super friendly, and sensitive little dog. He loves kids and enjoys running and playing with them. Gizmo does better having a fenced yard where he can run and play safely; he does walk nicely on a leash too for those daily walks. Gizmo is completely housebroken.  Gizmo has some separation anxiety so we are seeking adopters who are home most of the day. In addition, there must be another smaller dog in the adoptive home to keep him company because it helps him feel safe and less alone. Gizmo does not do well in a crate; he is not destructive in the home but will bark and drool if crated alone. He really is a super great little dog.  This dog has been examined by licensed veterinarians, provided inoculations, tested for diseases, neutered, and microchipped. Story
This cutie is Dixie, a 6 year old, 50 pound Pit Bull mix who is short in stature, and as sweet as pie with a little bit of spunk thrown in. Dixie loves giving kisses, really enjoys going for walks, playing with toys, and exploring and relaxing in the fenced in yard. Dixie warms up quickly to women and older children. When excited, she’ll get the zoomies and make the cutest noises. Dixie has been playful with most of the dogs in her foster home; she would be OK as the “one and only” dog in the home. She has good house manners and does not need to be crated when left alone.  Dixie came to our rescue after a neglectful owner kept her in the basement as a “breeding machine” for years. Despite that horrible existence, it did not affect her from being one of the sweetest little dogs. She will make a great addition to most households and is approved for households with children over the age of 10.  This dog has been examined by a licensed veterinarian, provided inoculations, been tested for disease, had a blood panel run (healthy), been dewormed, spayed, and microchipped. Story
Louie, Louie, Louie. We absolutely love this guy! He is big. He is fun. And, best of all, he is loyal. Louie, a very sweet American Bully mix, is about 2 years old, 75 pounds, and sports a cropped tail. Louie is a happy-go-lucky dog who craves human attention, love, and companionship. He very much wants to please his human. Louie would benefit from an adopter who will not only give him love and kindness, but also guidance and training to improve his overall use of basic commands. He is very treat and toy motivated which is a bonus.  Louie seems to like pretty much everyone and seems to settle easily into the home. He loves to run around and play in a fenced yard, so a secure yard is a must for him. Louie is very strong and will need some additional training on the leash due to pulling from excitement. This dog is best suited as an only dog. Louie is housebroken and crate trained and is approved for households with adults and children over the age of 12;  he could easily knock young children over due to his enthusiasm. Louie will make an amazing loyal companion to the right family.  This dog has been examined by licensed veterinarians, provided inoculations, tested for diseases, neutered, and microchipped.
