Story
Archie is such a special little guy in so many ways that we aren’t sure that writing this bio will do him justice, but we sure are going to try! Archie was found as a skinny stray at six weeks old. At animal control it was quickly discovered that he had a vision impairment, and was clumsy and wobbly on his feet. The Animal Control veterinarian wasn’t quite sure what condition he had specifically, but knew something neurological was going on. When our team met him, and saw how spirited, loving, and happy he was despite his challenges, she knew that WISH had to help him and get him into a foster home. We didn’t know what was going on with him exactly, but we were committed to finding out as much as we could with the help of our veterinary team. Archie has seen our regular veterinarian, as well as an eye specialist. Despite some subtle facial deformities (that somehow just add to his cuteness), and his vision impairment, Archie is a fairly normal developing puppy. It is suspected that he may have cerebellar hypoplasia (which causes him to have a wobbly gait), that has improved as he has grown and gained more muscle (as is typical with cerebellar hypoplasia). If he does have cerebellar hypoplasia, he is pretty steady compared to other dogs and cats with the condition! He can run, jump, and play! In fact, he loves to play so much with other dogs that we are hopeful to find him a home with another playful dog to wrestle around with and play. Although we learned that Archie is blind, you’ll swear that he can see! He is able to quickly map out his surroundings and navigates them well. And if he gets confused, he lets out these little whimpers and cries almost like he is calling mom for help. We happen to find it so darn adorable! Archie is also able to follow sound, which is helpful when he is playing in the yard or can’t see you, but knows you are there. For Archie’s safety we think a home with no stairs or minimal stairs, and a fenced yard would be best. Archie is an incredibly friendly pup who really thinks everyone and everything wants to be his friend. Strangers? Yup! Kids? No doubt! Dogs? You betcha! He’s just a happy, go lucky guy. Which is pretty amazing considering the adversity he has experienced. He romps around with favorite toys, and likes to play chase like any other puppy. He loves a good nap, and is a world class snuggler. He quickly forms attachments with things he uses regularly like his crate, dog bed, and preferred toys, and thrives on routine. This is a skill that can take some dog owners months to train a puppy. But not Archie! He is calm in his crate, and quietly sleeps through the night. He is happy to find his favorite dog bed and take a nap, and is even doing well with housebreaking. Archie comes to find us when he has to go potty, but like any other puppy his age, he will still need support in this area. Archie’s breeds are a mystery to us, but given the area he came from, and his personality, we think it is likely that he is a pitbull or pitbull mix. Regardless of that we do know that he is 100% cute. Our vet thinks he will grow to be about 60 lbs. Archie is a really special boy looking for that special person or special family to share his life with. Every person that meets Archie falls in love with him. He’s got something about him where you just can’t resist his charms. Archie needs a home where he can safely explore and be afforded the opportunity to be his absolutely lovable self. Special needs dogs make outstanding companions and Archie is ready for the challenge.

Story
HI! My name is Yrene (pronounced Irene), and I am 2-3 years old! Funny story about my history of names: when I first came into animal control, they thought I was a boy because I was so scared that I wouldn't stand up, and named me Waylon. Waylon is actually a pretty cool name, but so is Yrene! My foster mom was looking for a boy dog to foster, but once she met me and saw how sweet (and skinny) I was, she couldn’t say no. I was weak and shut down when they found me, but I’ve blossomed into a couch cuddling, silly, and loving girl. The things I love most are food, toys and snuggling. Loving food makes me treat motivated and easy to train, too. I’m a pro at kenneling up, and walking on leash. I won't pull you, or bark at other dogs. My foster mom actually really enjoys taking me on walks because she says it is such a peaceful experience having me with her. I'm not overly needy for affection, but do love my people that I bond too. Other people are cool too, but I may be shy with them. But, its okay to be shy! Imagine if our world was full of only extroverts. I love cuddling with my foster mom and pretending I’m a small lap dog. I currently live with other big dogs and a cat, and especially love being around my dog foster brother. My dream home has a backyard to romp around in, followed by a comfy spot inside to take a long LONG nap. One of my favorite activities is to take all my toys out of the toy bucket to pick which one to play with for the day and then carry it outside and forget about it. My foster mom doesn't mind, and is just so happy to see me happy. Maybe someone can train me to put all my toys back too! My foster mom loves me, and I love her, too. But, I'd really love a person or family of my own, and she'd love to keep saving dogs to foster. I'm low maintenance and wouldn't mind a quiet or low activity home. I'll show my gratitude daily with my cute paw waves and head tilts with the most adorable face wrinkles. The adoption fee for Yrene is $400. This donation helps to cover veterinary expenses including spay/neuter, microchip and vaccinations. Wish Upon a Rescue is a 501(c)3 non-profit, foster based animal rescue. If you would like to meet Yrene please complete our adoption questionnaire at www.wishuponarescue.org/adopt. We will review your responses and be in contact to schedule a meet and greet at a time and place convenient for your family and our team members.

Story
Hi, I’m Shirley Temple! Don’t let my Resting Grump Face fool you, I am far from grumpy! I’m actually a very happy girl who loves being loved on. I give lots of love back too! I’m a 3-4 year old bully mix and weigh 37 pounds. I was found as a stray and brought to the police department kennel, where I lived for about 2 weeks before my foster mom picked me up. I love car rides, walks, napping, and treats! Speaking of treats, they’re probably my favorite thing ever; especially apples, peanut butter, pumpkin, and banana! I get very excited over food, especially my foster mom’s, but every day I’m getting better and better about not trying to get it off the table! I’m a pretty good girl when we’re walking. Sometimes we see kiddos and other dogs when we’re walking, and I don’t even bark at them! I just stop and watch them, because I love everyone and just want to know what’s going on! I'm a go with the flow girl. My favorite thing to do at home is be right next to my foster mom , whether we’re doing chores, sitting outside or relaxing on the couch. I even try to jump in her lap while she’s working. I do love to lounge, so I may be better in a home with older kids. Don’t get me wrong, I love everybody but I might not be able to keep up with little ones. I’ve been working REAL HARD on potty training. I’ve made a ton of progress since being in my foster home. I still have accidents in the house but they’re mostly on potty pads. I'm even learning how to tell my foster mom when I have to go outside! It’s only a matter of time before I’m fully housebroken! Well, I think that’s enough about me … I can’t wait to meet you and see what you think! The adoption fee for Shirley Temple is $400. This donation helps to cover veterinary expenses including spay/neuter, microchip and vaccinations. Wish Upon a Rescue is a 501(c)3 non-profit, foster based animal rescue. Story
Do you believe in love at first sight? Well I believe in love at first sniff. Being born blind robbed me of the opportunity to see my forever family but it did not take my spirit, or my striking good looks. Somehow pictures never do me justice. Imagine the petite roundness of a bulldog body with a big block pittie head. And don't forget the double merle coat. I'm a beauty, its okay, I know it! Everyone who meets me is amazed at how special of a dog I am, too. Some say I would make an amazing therapy dog because I am so relaxed, lovable, and gentle. I enjoy the little things in life like listening to the wind and feeling the sun on my skin. I love to spend hours outside napping and sniffing. If I’m not ready to go inside yet I like to scrunch down into a little ball then spin and bark. I also love being inside, the cold floors, nice smells, and my foster siblings are great. The cats don’t seem to care about me, which is fine. We can coexist! But that’s okay me and the ferret got a bromance going on! I have a dog foster brother too! But, we haven't really figured out how to play together. He likes to play chasing games, and I just can't do that because I can't see him and he is so fast. So we stick to the roommate life which is okay with me! It will take me a bit but I will learn my surroundings, and map out my house, like all other blind dogs, and then be able to navigate the house with ease. People always swear that blind dogs can see because of how well these use their intelligence and other senses to find their way around! I’ve been with my foster mom for almost 2 months and in that time I’ve learned how to go from my room to the water bowl to the back door and then to NARNIA! I’ve also learned that I like squeaky toys and do not like tug a war. I am crate trained though and don't mind just laying down and napping. I actually really enjoy napping. Give me outside time, a good bed to nap on, and some cuddling and I'll be your perfect companion. As for home life a single story home would be ideal. More than few steps can be dangerous for a blind dog. I would love to find my forever family. Could it be you? The adoption fee for Wonder Boy is $450. This donation helps to cover veterinary expenses including spay/neuter, microchip and vaccinations. Wish Upon a Rescue is a 501(c)3 non-profit, foster based animal rescue. Story
Hi, my name is Beatrice! "Bea” for short. I am a 9 year old chihuahua rat terrier. I wasn’t dealt the best hand early on and along the way I lost a leg but now my life is a ray of sunshine. I love people and will stop at nothing to steal your heart. I recently found out I can bark (I wasn't allowed to in my previous home) and occasionally love showing off my new skill. Good thing my Mom says I have the sweetest little bark. I move around great but need someone who will help with stairs. I love being outside and with my foster mom/family. I prefer adult company especially ones who like a lap friend. Do you have a lap I cuddle on? The adoption fee for Bea is $400. This donation helps to cover veterinary expenses including spay/neuter, microchip and vaccinations. Wish Upon a Rescue is a 501(c)3 non-profit, foster based animal rescue. Story
Hi everyone, my name is Murphy and I am a delightful and active young guy! I am a puppy, so like every other puppy I am still learning. I have so much love to give! I am an all American mutt, the rescue thinks maybe poodle mix, but who knows. I am about 7 months old, and could grow to be 60 pounds of adorable! I like other dogs, but I’m ok as a single dog, I would love all of the attention. Although I am so polite when I meet other dogs on leash, I love to play and wrestle with my doggy friends, so no little doggy friends for me, only ones that can play and wrestle back, please. I like kids, but am still learning that the little ones are a bit more fragile. Best to have the kiddos in my family be a bit older… I don’t want to knock anyone down because I am so excited to see them! I like to ride in the car in the backseat and I just settle and lay down, and thoroughly enjoy walks. My foster mom thinks I’d enjoy swimming too! Maybe you can take me on a swimming adventure. I do not like to be left alone for too long, so really no more than 4 hours in the crate for now. I would love to have a family that was home with me a lot. My foster Mom gives me lots of puzzles, bones, chewy things in the crate when she is not home. This helps keep my brain engaged so I don’t get into trouble or feel anxious. I am super smart and look forward to training so I can learn everything you would like me to learn. My foster Mom loves me, and says I don’t have a mean bone in my body. “Everything is cute about him!” she says. And I have to say that obviously I agree. I love getting love from you! And in return you will get all the love and snuggles you could ever wish for. Her favorite thing is how I snuggle my head into her neck like a baby when we cuddle. Thanks for taking the time to read my bio. I hope you will set up a time for a meet and greet because when you meet me in person you’re going to fall in love, and I’m sure I will too. Can’t wait to start the next chapter…with you. The adoption fee for Murphy is $450. This donation helps to cover veterinary expenses including spay/neuter, microchip and vaccinations.
