Story
Hi my name is Mary. A lot of people say Mary? That’s your name and what happened is I already had that name when my mom adopted me and she didn’t want to change it because I responded to Mary. I love car rides! Before I lost some of my hearing, anytime I would hear keys jingle I would get up and was ready to go! I am a little on the older side so I enjoy cuddles and sleeping more than anything. Sometimes though I love to go outside and sun bathe or go for a small walk around the block! Sadly, my mom can no longer care for me. I would love someone who gives me all their attention, only dog, and preferably no small kids.

Story
Hawk is a Pointer mix male who was born 8/28/18. He was adopted from us as a pup and is now looking for a new home as he is not doing well in his current home environment. He is currently living with his owners to avoid being returned to a kennel environment. We will be screening applicants for his owners in order to hopefully facilitate a successful adoption! His owners say the following about him... "Hawk is an intelligent athlete. His speed and aligity is matched by his willingness to please. He'll play fetch for hours and make running around look easy! He is a true introvert-enjoys people but sometimes people can be overwhelming and will need a soft bed to relax in while company is over. When given time to warm up, he'll paw you for head scratches and nudge you for cuddles. He's curious in nature and is a great problem solver. Although he isn't allowed on the furniture, he loves to curl up next to you but also enjoys a playful wrestling match. Sunbathing is his jam but don't ask him to cool off in the pool or go out in the rain. He needs an owner who can help protect his boundaries when he is feeling insecure and unsure. The perfect owner will be willing to reinforce the 2+ years of professional training. He is very food driven and loves to please. He heals, comes when called and stays in place and waits when told. Hawk is crate and house-trained and is trustworthy to be out in the house uncrated in his current environment. He plays well with the dog in his current home, and those in daycare, BUT is leash and barrier reactive to other dogs so will not do well through a fence or on leash. With the right intro and dog personality match he could successfully live with other dogs. He has never lived with cats but will chase small animals so no cats would be best. He lives with small children currently but would really like an adult only (14+) home." Please email availablepets@gmail.com if you are interested in adopting Hawk and giving him the home he needs!

Story
Maddy - Female Great Dane Age - 3 years Good with: Cats - Yes, with cats that ared use to big dogs.  Dogs - No, Maddy will be respectful of other dogs when all dogs are leashed. She tolerates the other dogs in her foster home and does nice nose sniffs separated by gates. Her foster home considers this a very very slow dog to dog introduction because she was initially barrier reactive in the foster home and over the weeks the reactivity has completely diminshed and all barriers are respected by all dogs in the home. The longer Maddy is in her foster home the longer her foster family will continue to work with her.  Kids - She does well with respectful kids that can give her a slow introduction. Once the home hierarchy is established (ie: Maddy is NOT the mom) she LOVES kids; she cuddles and plays with children from 9 to 16 years old in her foster home. Be warned though she will steal toys and hide them in her kennel which could lead to potential resource guarding. Location - Illinois Weight - 117 lbs Do you love a silly great dane? This girl is hilarious! Maddy acts like a goofy kangeroo when she has the zoomies - which happen daily now that she is comfortable in her foster home. She loves to toss around her giant stuff animals and no area rug is safe in the house - she will slide and jump and toss her toys without abandon. Maddy has a huge heart which has been broken repeatedly in her short life; she wants to play and snuggle and go for long walks to anywhere and anytime. Maddy had a rough start to life so she is very timid when meeting new people and in new places but her foster home has her slow introduction needs down to a science. She has to sniff new people without them trying to touch her; and she loves to make it super uncomfortable for everyone in the room becuase she wants to smell a person's breath - you can blow in her direction and she loves it; once she nudges a hand for pets then the intro is done and everyone is set. Once she warms up, she is a lover and will want to be by your side at all times. She will need a patient adopter that will take it slow with her and work with her foster home to make her transition to adoption as smooth as possible.  Maddy is a typical guardian dane - she needs her personal space (aka a kennel) to feel safe and secure and will bond with her people very intensely. She will guard your home and family so she needs a knowledgable adopter; please be prepared for several meet and greets and different locations before adoption.  Until the profile is removed from the public’s view, the dog is considered available for adoption.  Meet and greets can be scheduled with approved adopters.
