Story
"Hey there, I'm Cookie! I'm a 2-year-old, 55-pound bundle of love who's just itching to find my forever family. I live for belly rubs, games of fetch, and any toy you throw my way—I'm a total toy connoisseur! I'm a super affectionate gal who thrives on love and attention, and I'm on the hunt for a family who's ready to play and go on adventures with me. I'm currently living it up with my foster family, enjoying long walks, hiking in the great outdoors, and making friends with everyone we meet. They say I'm a real gem with excellent house manners—I'm not one to chew up your stuff, promise! Guess what? I'm already a pro at potty and crate training, and I'm eager to show off just how much more I can learn. I've got 'sit' and 'drop it' down to a tee, especially when there's a tasty treat involved! My foster family thinks I'm pretty smart and oh-so-special. While I'm perfectly content being the only dog in your life, I wouldn't mind having a furry friend to pal around with in my forever home. So, what do you say? Are you ready to make me a part of your family? Don't let this wonderful girl slip through your paws—fill out an adoption application today and let's start our happily ever after together!" Cookie is being fostered in a private home. Appointments to visit her will be set up for approved adopters only. Her adoption fee is $300 which includes all age appropriate vaccines. She is spayed and microchipped. She is also up-to-date on all vaccinations and preventatives as well as Heartworm negative. Please visit our website and fill out an application if you are interested. http://newstartdogrescue.org

Story
Leia is just a little over 1 year old. She is full of energy and sometimes isn’t sure where to put it. Recently she has not been getting along with our other dog which leads us to this decision. Leia would do best in a home as a solo dog. She does well with cats and is very gentle with children. Leia is very timid initially and can appear aggressive at first encounter. Once she warms up she is the biggest lover and enjoys giving kisses. Leia will need a very patient caregiver who is experienced in difficult to train dogs. She gets nervous going potty outside and needs to be reminded frequently.

Story
Hey there, I'm Scooby! I'm almost a year old and they say I'm a Bull Mastiff mix. Right now, I'm about 70 lbs, but I'll probably bulk up to around 90 lbs when I'm all grown. I used to live with some humans, but they couldn't keep me anymore. It was really stressful being in a shelter, I kinda shut down. But then, these amazing folks from a local rescue brought me to a foster home. Within just a day, I started feeling like myself again. I absolutely adore hanging out with other dogs! Playing, sharing toys and bones, it's the best. I'm all good with going potty outside and chilling in my crate. Oh, and I need a fenced yard, you know, for safety reasons. I gotta admit, I'm pretty shy around new people and places. I'm a bit of an introvert, you could say. But once I get to know you, I'll be your loyal shadow. New folks take me a while to warm up to, so I'd prefer a calm home where there aren't too many strangers coming and going. Kids, though? I'm cool with them. They seem to understand me quicker than adults. And don't worry, I'm all about love, no aggression here. If things get overwhelming, I'll just retreat to my cozy crate until I feel better. Local adoptions only. We do not adopt out of the state of Illinois. Scooby is being fostered in a private home. Appointments to meet him will be set up for approved adopters only. His adoption fee is $300 which includes all age appropriate vaccines. He is neutered, microchipped and Heartworm negative. He has also been kept on both flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. Story
Hi my name is Socks! I’m a happy, healthy and playful little pup. I was born on 2/13/24. My mom came to New Start Dog Rescue when me and my siblings were still in her tummy. So we were born in a foster home and have been well taken care of since birth. I currently weigh 9 lbs. Not sure who my dad was but my mom is 35 lbs. and is a Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler mix. I’ll probably get to be more than that cause I’m a chunky baby right now! The rescue sent out a DNA test on me and my siblings, turns out we’re part Australian Cattle Dog, American Pit Bull Terrier, American English Coonhound, Miniature Pinscher, and Supermutt! Talk about a great mix! Local adoptions only. We do not adopt out of the state of Illinois. Puppies are being fostered in a private home. Appointments to meet them will be set up for approved adopters only. The adoption fee is $350 which includes all age appropriate vaccines. The puppies are neutered/spayed and microchipped.
