Anne Bonny (AB) is guessed to be about 5 years old and weighs around 8 lbs. She came to us from Texas where she had been found with a large number of dogs in an abandoned house. We believe she did not have much human contact in her formative years and therefore has an extreme fear of handling. She is a very special girl who will need a very special home. AB is very shut down and scared. She will hide and tries to avoid contact- it is heartbreaking. She doesn't seem to have a mean or aggressive bone in her body, but due to her level of fear we recommend a very slow approach and taking time with her to prevent her from feeling in a position where she is in flight or fight and cannot flee. She has no reaction to the cats or dogs in the foster home, so we think she could co-exist fine with either. AB has been started on fluoxetine to try and help with her fear. We think she would do best in a quiet home without much activity or new people. She needs a patient person who will accept her as she is, but be willing to work with her to help her gain confidence and comfort with human contact. ABs adoption donation of $250 helps cover the cost of her vet care (spay, microchip, bloodwork). Adopters must live within a 1 hour driving distance from Romeoville, IL. *REAR PARALYZED* Sweet Pea came to us from Arkansas where her family had surrendered her as a young puppy saying the mom dog stepped on her. Based on x-rays Sweet Pea has a spinal deformity that our vet believes was a genetic issue and not one due to trauma. She is rear paralyzed, but loves her cart! She does not know when she needs or is going potty. We do express her several times a day to keep her comfortable, clean, and dry. She does wear a diaper when she is not in her crate. She gets along with other dogs, cats, and kids. She absolutely loves all people and has never met a stranger. We did a DNA test on her and her main breed came back as American Pit Bull Terrier, although we were told the mom was some kind of shepherd mix. She is petite - only about 35 lbs and not super stocky. Sweet Pea was guessed to be born in April of 2022, so she is still young. She loves to play with the other dogs and has a good energy. Sweet Pea's adoption donation has been waived to a qualified home. She will come with her special crate, wheelchair, and harness. Application, reference checks, and home visit required. Meet Sprite! This little guy is just a little love. He is guessed to be about 8 years old and weighs 10 lb. He is overweight and we have him on a diet. He does have bilateral grade 4 luxating patellas, but the vet determined surgery was not necessary at this time as he is currently getting around well and using both legs. Maintaining him at a healthy weight will be critical in keeping his knees in the best shape as possible. He also has some lameness on his front right leg, due to undetermined reasons. He is currently not able to do stairs or jump, so he will need to be carried. We are hoping once he gets to his ideal weight he will be able to work on this, but for now, adopters should be prepared to carry him. His liver values were elevated on his bloodwork, so he is currently on some liver supplements and we will recheck his bloodwork about 6-8 weeks after starting the supplement. He is a really sweet boy who loves tummy rubs and enjoys attention. He gets along with other dogs his size and cats. We think he would love a home where he can get a lot of attention, but one that isn’t too active or busy. Sprite's adoption donation of $395 helps cover the cost of his medical care. Story

We are so happy at how Kennedy has come along in the short 2 weeks she has been in her new foster home Kennedy. Since she’s been here, she’s been eating and drinking like a champ, chilling with foster brother Ted, and after a short warm up period, loves anyone who comes to the house. In the past two weeks, zero accidents, she doesn’t love the crate (but goes in when you lead her to it - although she seriously doesn’t need it), and has learned to love treats from Two Bostons and Ava's Pet Palace (if you haven’t checked out Ava’s treats, your pets are missing out - these guys love everything she makes!). She also walks on a leash like a dream. She does have a few quirks - she hates loud noises - garbage trucks, school buses, snow plows (her safe space in the house is on the landing going upstairs). Her other one is that she won’t walk on the hardwood floors so there are some extra throw rugs down for her. She would love to play with other dogs, but has quickly realized her foster brother isnt a "player". We have taken her through all her vetting- spayed, rabies vaccine, distemper vaccine, bordatella vaccine, fecal negative, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Hi there, my name is Huey, and I am a Chihuahua/Schnauzer/Terrier mix about 7 years old. I have been in the rescue for quite some time as it takes me a little time to trust people. I was abused in my past so on my initial meet and greets with new people I am unsure, and sudden movements make me scared and I get barky and growly. Once I get to know you and trust you can't get rid of me, I am looking for someone that understands it takes time for trust and won't push. Once we are BFFs, I am the most loyal, fun, sassy and most of all cuddly friend. I am looking for my forever home with somebody who is either a stay at home, work from home, or retired as I like to be with my people as much as possible. I am completely up to date on my vetting which includes neutered, rabies vaccine, distemper vaccine, Bordetella, negative fecal, negative heartworm, and microchipped. My ideal home would be with a fenced yard, and no other dogs.
