Story
Don is here to campaign for the position of “Best Boy Ever,” and honestly… he’s already winning by a landslide. This nine month old Pittie arrived at our facility through no fault of his own, and from day one he has been nothing but a giant sweetheart wrapped in puppy energy. Don’s favorite hobbies include giving unlimited kisses, making his humans proud, and convincing everyone he meets to be his best friend. He absolutely adores other dogs and is always ready to wrestle, zoom, and play until everyone needs a nap. No cats for Don. He also does great with kids, making him the total family package. Around the shelter, Don has become the unofficial “Tech Office Intern.” His daily duties include playing with toys, supervising computer work from under the desk, and curling up by your feet for moral support. Unlike some interns, Don doesn’t make messes, doesn’t complain, and happily accepts payment in Cheez-Its. This goofy, lovable boy is still young and ready for all the adventures life has to offer. If you’re looking for a playful companion, professional cuddler, and full-time best friend, Don is ready to clock in for forever. His adoption fee is $200, which includes his vaccines, fecal exam, deworming, current heartworm/flea prevention, heartworm test, and registered microchip. He is already fixed! Call our office for adoption details at 815-725-0333. Located in Joliet, IL. Don was adopted but returned after a few weeks due to the resident dog not getting along with him. He was too playful and full of little brother syndrome. The adopter loved him but knew he deserved a better fitting home.

Story
Meet Lumen, an one year old Pittie mix—or, as we like to say, a mix of a mix! This adorable girl is ready to light up someone`s life and finally find the forever family she`s been waiting for. Lumen was found as a stray in the local area and, sadly, no one ever came looking for her. Now, she`s ready for a fresh start and a place to call home. True to her name, Lumen shines bright, especially with her stunning blue eyes that have earned her the nickname `Headlights.` Her unique look is made even cuter by her adorably quirky ears and petite frame, weighing in at just around 35 pounds. Lumen is a social butterfly who does wonderfully with other dogs and absolutely loves playtime. She is not a fan of cats and would do best in a feline-free home. One of her favorite activities is digging through the toy bin and proudly parading around with her newest treasure as if she`s found the greatest prize in the world. Goofy, affectionate, and full of personality, Lumen has a way of making everyone around her smile. If you`re looking for a fun-loving, eye-catching companion who will fill your days with laughter, adventure, and unconditional love, Lumen might just be your perfect match. Her adoption fee is $200, which includes her vaccines, fecal exam, deworming, current heartworm/flea prevention, heartworm test, registered microchip, and spay. She is already fixed! Story
Meet Eevee, a sweet, two-year-old Pit Bull with a gentle soul who is happiest simply being by your side. She arrived at our facility as a stray and, sadly, was never reclaimed. Despite everything she`s been through, Eevee has remained a calm, affectionate companion. Eevee gets along well with other dogs and would love a laid-back canine friend who matches her mellow personality. While toys don`t seem to be her thing, she`s perfectly content spending quality time with her people, whether that`s relaxing together or enjoying a peaceful walk. If you`re looking for a loyal companion who will happily keep you company through life`s everyday moments, Eevee may be the perfect addition to your family. Her adoption fee is $200, which includes her vaccines, fecal exam, deworming, current heartworm/flea prevention, heartworm test, registered microchip, and spay. She is already fixed! Story
Introducing Doc Harris, a five-year-old German Shepherd who was found as a stray roaming through a local forest preserve. Sadly, this area has become a common place for dogs to be found, whether they are lost or abandoned by their previous owners. Doc was clean and in good health when he arrived, so we hoped he had simply gotten loose and that his family would come looking for him. He was microchipped, but unfortunately, we were unable to get any information as it was not registered. We traced his microchip information and even reached out to our friends at Microchip Hunters for help, but sadly, no leads turned up. Now, Doc is ready to leave shelter life behind. German Shepherds can become stressed in loud, busy environments, and our shelter is no exception. Doc is struggling in his kennel and, unfortunately, visitors aren`t always able to see the best version of him. He often paces and barks out of anxiety while in his kennel. Once he`s out and away from the noise, however, you get to see a much different side of Doc. Doc enjoys one-on-one time with his people, whether that`s lounging at your feet while you work or having fun playing fetch and tug-of-war with his favorite toys. He also does well with other dogs, especially mellow companions who match his laid-back personality. No cats for him. Doc Harris is a big boy, weighing around 100 pounds, and he will need a family who has taken the time to research the German Shepherd breed and understands the commitment that comes with owning one. His future family should have the time, space, patience, and dedication to provide him with the training, exercise, and structure he needs to thrive. Doc has spent enough time waiting. He deserves the chance to show someone who he really is outside of the shelter—and we know his best self is still waiting to shine. His adoption fee is $200, which includes his vaccines, fecal exam, deworming, current heartworm/flea prevention, heartworm test, and registered microchip. He is already fixed! Story
Jake is a three-year-old Pittie who came to us as a stray, and to our surprise, no one ever came looking for him. It’s hard to imagine why, because Jake is packed full of personality and charm that instantly wins people over. This playful boy is an absolute social butterfly with other dogs—he loves to zoom, wrestle, and bounce around with his canine friends. In the playroom, Jake turns into a full-on comedian, springing from wall to wall like a fifty-pound kitten. He’s known for flopping onto his back mid-play and enthusiastically digging through the toy bin in search of his next favorite toy. Jake’s goofy, high-energy spirit keeps everyone laughing and on their toes. He would thrive in an active home that can keep up with his playful antics and give him plenty of outlets for his energy. If you’re looking for a fun-loving companion who will bring constant entertainment and joy into your life, Jake just might be your guy. Jake was recently adopted and returned due to not settling in the home with the five kids. It was a lot at once to decompress and settle in. Also no cats for Mr Jake. His adoption fee is $200, which includes his vaccines, fecal exam, deworming, current heartworm/flea prevention, heartworm test, registered microchip, and neuter. He is already fixed! Story
Blu is a 14 year old pitbull mix. We are her second owners and have had her for 8 years but unfortunately need to rehome her. We live in a small house with a toddler and new baby on the way and we cannot care for Blu in the same way anymore. She has been great with our kids of various ages but she does not like any other dogs. She is very sweet and loves to be close to people. She is house trained but does occasionally have some accidents and we’re thinking it’s due to her age. We don’t have a fenced yard and are not able to take her out as often as she needs to go out. Really hoping she can move on to another loving and caring home.
