Meet Channing! Channing is a vibrant and playful pup just over 4 years old, looking for a loving forever home. Adopted from our rescue four years ago, Channing has grown into an energetic companion who loves to play catch and run around the yard. He would thrive in a home with a fenced yard where he can enjoy plenty of playtime and outdoor adventures. Channing is the perfect match for a family that enjoys an active lifestyle and can provide him with regular exercise. We were told he loves other dogs; however, since he has been in the kennel environment, he seems particular with his dog friends. He is kid friendly though. He would love the company of older children to play with. When he's not running around, Channing is incredibly affectionate and will let you know when he wants some love and attention. He's also a pro at cozying up at the end of the bed or next to you on the couch while you watch TV or read a book. Channing is house-trained, responds well to basic commands like sit and stay, and is up to date on his vaccinations. He's also neutered and ready to be your loyal companion. With his loving personality and zest for life, Channing is a wonderful dog with so much love to give. If you're looking for an energetic, affectionate, and playful dog to join your family, Channing might just be the perfect fit! Complete our online application at animalfriendsva.org and we'll arrange a meet and greet to see if he's the one you've been looking for.

Story
Meet Jack: Your Future Furry Best Friend! Jack is a charming Foxhound and Beagle mix, surrendered because his high energy levels were too much for the toddlers in his previous home. This handsome boy may look like a black lab, but he's a unique and beautiful blend of two spirited breeds. Personality and Energy Jack is full of energy and love, making him a perfect fit for an active home with older or no children. He is picky about who his doggie friends are but does ok sometimes with other dogs. Jack is incredibly intelligent and knows a variety of commands, including sit, shake, look at me, touch, and spin. His favorite pastime is being outdoors, chasing squirrels and birds, so a fenced-in yard or an active family is ideal to help him burn off his abundant energy. Perfect Companion After a day of outdoor fun, Jack loves nothing more than to cuddle up on the couch or in bed with his people. He bonds quickly and deeply, making him a loyal and loving companion. Jack is a perfect gentleman when it comes to waiting for his food, displaying excellent manners. Training and Behavior Jack walks beautifully on a leash with his head halter but still needs a bit of work with a harness. He does have a typical hound dog trait of resource guarding his food from other dogs, though he's perfectly comfortable with his humans. Ideal Home Jack would thrive in an active household where he can get plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. He needs a family that can match his energy and provide the love and companionship he craves. If you're looking for a loyal, energetic, and loving companion who will keep you on your toes and cuddle up with you at the end of the day, Jack is the perfect match for you. Come meet him and see how quickly he'll become your new best friend!

Story
Meet Clyde, the epitome of tranquility in the form of a senior dog. This seasoned canine companion embodies a serene demeanor that effortlessly puts everyone at ease. With a heart eager to please and a gentle spirit, Clyde naturally falls into the role of a loyal follower, content in the company of both humans and fellow canines. While initially reserved around strangers, Clyde quickly warms up once he senses the sincerity of their intentions. His calm nature extends to his living habits; he's house trained, though may need extra attention if left alone for extended periods. However, Clyde finds solace in his crate, where he often retreats to unwind and relax. Despite his mature years, Clyde hasn't lost his playful spark. He has bounce in his strut, and he eagerly awaits the return of his foster parent from work, ready to engage in some delightful antics. While he's adept at handling a few steps, Clyde hasn't ventured into staircases indoors, preferring to keep to familiar ground. Though generally composed, Clyde can exhibit defensive behaviors when he feels threatened. However, his bark is much worse than his bite, as he's never resorted to aggression, instead opting to ease into calmness when met with a tranquil environment. Clyde isn't just a senior dog; he's a testament to the enduring charm and loyalty that age brings. With his chill demeanor and unwavering companionship, Clyde is the perfect addition to any loving home looking for a serene soul to share their days with.
