Story
Even though Odie was abandoned by his previous family, he still loves people.  He gets along with other dogs and children.  He is high energy and hasn't learned to meet other dogs.  He can be a bit intimidating to other dogs.  His foster brother is a small 13 yr old rat terrier and Odie loves to sleep with him.  It takes a slow introduction for him to settle down.   If you want a hiking or camping buddy, Odie is your guy.  Playing fetch and tug are also favorite things that he likes.  He would love a family who would treat him like a family member.  .  He has already had his dental and is ready to start his new life as a family member.  If you are interested, please contact Rainbow Rescue at 757-472-1583 or rainbowanimalrescueva@gmail.comApril 25, 2024, 2:30 pm

Story
Luther was picked up as a stray in one of the surrounding counties.  He was heart worm positive and had a mast cell tumor on his side.  He has been treated for the heart worms and the tumor was totally removed.  Our sweet energetic boy is now looking for his furever home.  Luther loves to play and go on walks.  His best bud is Huck and they play in the yard until they drop and then they play some more.  They would love to be adopted together but that is not a requirement.   He would love to be your TV buddy also.  He walks well on a leash and is learning to be a dog.  He needs more training but that should be a lifelong adventure.  If you are that special family who would love this boy furever, please contact Rainbow Rescue at 757-472-1583 or rainbowanimalrescueva@gmail.comApril 25, 2024, 2:30 pm

Story
Sweet Huck was  a volunteer favorite at the shelter.  He is  2 years old (a baby who was stuck in a rural shelter), 56lbs( is on a diet), neutered, heart worm negative, and current on vaccines.  He revels in attention and knows basic commands.  Huck was an owner surrender and is house and crate trained.  He takes a while to warm up to some men so a slow intro with treats wins him over.   Like most dogs and people, he doesn't respond to yelling or rough treatment.  He loves to go for walks and would love to have a running partner to help him see the world.  He would do best with older children. Huck is a fast learner and is eager to learn new cues and tricks.  He is a snuggle bug according to his foster but would also like to go for a long walk or run.   Because he is a typical beagle, he loves to chew so he would need someone who will work with him and take him to training class.  If you think this adorable boy would make a wonderful addition to your home, PLEASE contact Rainbow Rescue at 757-472-1583 or rainbowanimalrescueva@gmail.comApril 25, 2024, 2:30 pm

Story
Our bouncy Ben was picked up by a local animal control.  He was very thin, heart worm positive, and had intestinal parasites.  All of that is behind him now as he has completed treatment for all and is ready to find his forever home.  We really should have named him Tigger as he bounces every where he goes.  He loves to play and also can be a snuggler when he has gotten his energy out.  We don't know how he is with cats as he hasn't been around them.  Ben knows sit and down and is eager to learn more.  He would like a family who will continue with training, and include him in their adventures, keeping in mind that he is a hound and must always be leashed when out because he likes to follow his nose.  He would be a great walking, running, hiking buddy.  If you are that special family who would love  this boy forever, please contact Rainbow Animal Rescue at rainbowanimalrescueva@gmail.com or 757-472-1583April 25, 2024, 2:30 pm

Story
Our sweet Harris was picked up as a stray by animal control in one of the surrounding counties.  He had a raging ear infection to the point that the exudate was running out of his ear and down his chest.  Consequently, he is deaf in that ear.  It is thought that he can hear in the other ear. He also has advanced heart worm disease.  He has been  treated for the heart worms and has been treated for the ear infection and his ears are fine now.  Sugar is a good name for him because he is sweet as sugar.  He gets along with other dogs and is really good with his foster kids who are older.  We don't think that he would be good with cats.  He loves to snuggle on the sofa and watch TV with his foster family and also loves car rides.  He is great in the kennel and loves Toys he can shred but also likes bones that are long lasting.   He has not been neutered yet but is scheduled for May after he has completed his heart worm treatment.  The ideal family for out boy is one that is loving, patient, and calm.  You couldn't get a better companion and one that would love to learn new tricks.  He rides well in the car and is waiting for his family.  He will be ready to go home with that family in May 2024 but we are accepting applications now.  Get your applications in early so you don't miss out on this special boy.  Call 757-472-1583 or rainbowanimalrescueva@gmail.com if you are interested in adopting this little cuddle bug.April 25, 2024, 2:30 pm
